Chapter 100: Chapter 98: Self-inflicted Trouble

"I..." Jingjing lowered her head, unable to utter the rebuttal that had reached the tip of her tongue.

Once they reached the third floor, it was indeed much quieter, though intermittent noises could still be heard.

Li Qian led them straight to the only few vacant rooms, smiling at Li Chuan and the others, "You can clean up and stay in these rooms."

The advantage of having a spiritual power wasn’t all that great, Su Mo inwardly sighed.

"There are only three empty rooms," Li Qian said.

Jianxiong forcibly opened the doors to the three rooms at the furthest end of the corridor, even pulling off all the door handles, revealing one standard room and two double rooms.

Upon seeing the pristine double bed, his eyes gleamed, and immediately turned to Li Qian, "I’ll bunk with you tonight."

Without a second thought, he dragged Li Qian toward that double room. Before closing the door, he maliciously said to Lu Chen, "We’re hitting the sack first, boss. See you tomorrow."

"Wait," Su Mo called out to him. She extended her hand and beckoned him to open his. A yellow-brown crystal stone fell into his palm.

"You should be able to use this crystal stone, its level 3 effect should be quite good."

Jianxiong was stunned for a moment, then deeply moved, "Sis..."

"Alright, go to sleep now," Su Mo waved her hand and pushed him inside.

"Changsheng, I’ll then leave this old woman in your care," Su Niang amiably said to Zhao Changsheng.

When she caught sight of the double room, she snorted from her nose and reluctantly swayed her hips as she followed into the adjacent room.

There was one clean room left; Su Mo glanced at Lu Chen and coughed lightly, "Let’s go in."

The remaining rooms either had a dead body sprawled inside or a live zombie knocking on the door. Thankfully, they were all level 1, so their attack wasn’t strong, and they were cleared out quickly.

Li Chuan leaned against the wall, staring at the door Lu Chen had entered for a while, only stepping into the room that had been cleaned next to him afterward.

Just in case, Sheng Yuan also had someone lock the stairwell door on the third floor, marking out a temporary safe zone for them.

The room reeked of mustiness. The large floor-to-ceiling window was tightly sealed with heavy curtains. Lu Chen lit several candles on the small table inside, and a layer of thin dust covered the huge bed’s duvet.

Su Mo grabbed a chair to block the entrance, returned to flick dust off the duvet, then tossed the duvet to the floor, revealing the mattress underneath still clean, "This duvet is too dirty; we better sleep in sleeping bags."

"Hmm," the man complied, tossing out two sleeping bags from his Space and throwing them to her.

She spread them on the bed, then sat down at the table to take out the tea set from the cabinet.

She adeptly placed tea leaves into the pot, adjusted the temperature, "Tomorrow morning, while we’re looking for fuel, let’s also check if there are any new varieties of tea leaves."

It had been a long time since she last experimented with new tea breeds, always too busy on the run — this wasn’t acceptable.

"Sure, I’ll take a bath later," the man ruffled her hair and headed to the bathroom.

Su Mo paused, reflexively sniffing her arm — it seemed she had smeared some zombie mucus on herself during the fight, and it did stink a bit.

She brewed several pots of Jasmine Tea to restore her superpowers, bottled it, and placed it on the table to prepare for giving it to Jianxiong and the others tomorrow. Her System Bag could keep her and Lu Chen supplied for now.

From the bathroom came the sound of Lu Chen freezing ice cubes. Su Mo pondered for a moment, taking the small pot to heat some water. Just as she stood up to go over, she froze in place.

In the dim, flickering candlelight of the room, the man’s well-built upper body, half-undressed, was reflected through the bathroom’s glass.

Hmm... the hotel’s bathroom on the side next to the bed was transparent.

Su Mo very much wanted to remind him, but the words just wouldn’t come out of her throat; her big eyes were glued to that perfect Adonis belt and wouldn’t budge an inch.

She just watched as he took off his shirt and picked up a towel, wet it with ice water, and wiped it across his impressive figure.

Su Mo swallowed and didn’t even notice that Lu Chen had deliberately turned half his body to the side and the hint of a smile that flickered in the darkness.

She just kept holding the teapot, holding her breath and fixating her gaze on those long fingers as they moved to his belt.

"Had enough?"

"Not yet..." Su Mo shook her head in response, then realizing something was amiss, she quickly looked up to meet his half-smiling face, and then heard a snap as he pulled down the blinds on the glass.

"..." Did she even have a chance to argue that she really wasn’t being bad?

In the darkness, under Lu Chen’s annoyed gaze, there was an uncontrollable bulge in his lower body.

With a sigh, Su Mo moved to knock on the door, "That... I meant to remind you, I’ve boiled some hot water for you, not much, just mix and use it, it has gotten cooler tonight."

In the bathroom, the sound of the towel being washed paused, and the door opened a crack. All was dark inside, and she handed over the teapot with her head lowered.

A large hand reached out to take the teapot and then banged the door shut.

Su Mo pouted outside and muttered, "We’ve already kissed, won’t even let me look."

"What did you say?" A flat male voice came from the bathroom.

"Is the hot water enough, or do you need more?" She raised a smiling face toward the door, beaming.

There was no more movement inside. Su Mo sat down on the bed with lips pursed, waiting for Lu Chen to change his clothes and come out. When he did, she smiled again, but the man, carrying a hint of coldness, walked past her and pulled opened a small slit in the thick curtains.

It felt like he had wiped his whole body with ice blocks, so chilly.

Hum!

Su Mo stood up from the bed and went into the bathroom where she found more ice cubes reformed for her and a set of new clothes laid out. She boiled another two small teapots of water, mixed it to clean herself before coming out.

Lu Chen was still standing by the window, motionless, as if looking at something.

She moved beside him and peered through the curtain slit. Distant flickering lights were visible: "Is that the group from tonight?"

"Mm," the man replied indifferently.

Su Mo frowned, "Did they discover us too?"

"Mm," he pulled the curtain closed, blew out the candle with one breath, and turned to lie down in the sleeping bag on the bed.

Su Mo felt that the man might be upset. She climbed onto the bed feeling somewhat troubled and slipped into the sleeping bag. It couldn’t be, she had seen it before.

The person beside her was turned away. Su Mo, not giving up, poked at his stiff back, "Lu Chen, are you mad? I really didn’t mean to peep."

The girl’s soft voice did not elicit a response from the man.

Propping herself up, she leaned closer, somewhat annoyed, "We have already kissed, what’s the big deal about one look!"

The refreshing scent after a bath hit her as Lu Chen’s voice, tinged with restraint, said, "Go to sleep."

Su Mo looked puzzled; she moved even closer, even went so far as to throw a leg over his waist and hugged him tightly, "I won’t!"
