Chapter 97: A Foodie’s Ruthless Verdict

Inside the living room, Long Haoran sat on his knees on the floor while the Elf and Li Chunhua were sitting on the wooden lounge chair across him.

The little fox and the ginseng were biting their hands and watching on the sidelines because they were unable to take sides with two handsome beings around.

The current scene is like when a famous boy band suddenly disbands and two of their members become at odds with each other. The chibi fans didn’t know what to do besides continue watching in anxiety.

Long Haoran stayed quiet and only waited for their verdict. He was not ungrateful. It was just their behavior of throwing pots and spouting threats when he just regained his consciousness that made him think that they were a part of a lawless gang and if they were planning to make him a lackey.

It was the reason for his window escape.

Siri and the two little freeloaders were in the kitchen when Long Haoran attempted to escape, leaving Li Chunhua to be the only witness.

Li Chunhua leaned in closer to the elf’s ears and whispered while looking at the contents of the paper on the elf’s hands. "Don’t you think that is too much? "

Siri looked at his verdict and didn’t find anything wrong. He shook his head. "What are you saying, Master? This is so perfect."

Li Chunhua’s eyes looked at the phrase ’free laborer for six months’ and gulped.

The second, after Li Chunhua ripped her gaze off the paper, Siri took out something behind him and struck the table, creating a dull sound. "You are under the rules of Salted Fish Territory’s court!"

Li Chunhua jolted and widened her eyes. She recognized the item through the original owner’s memory. Isn’t that a gavel? The small mallet used by judges in court to oversee cases?

Where did you, Brother Siri, get it? And what’s up with Salted Fish’s Court? How come she had not been informed?

Long Haoran was also staring at the gavel. Is he being taken into court? Are lawless gangs so civilized now?

Siri crossed his legs and placed the gavel on the table before starting the court session. "Young man, state your name! Failing to do so will result in us stripping you naked, and we’ll let you run around the territory! "

The chibis clapped and drooled, imagining such scenarios. They want to see it, especially the abs, if a handsome stranger has any. Kyaa! The two blushed.

Li Chunhua was taken aback. Isn’t that the punishment she’s given to those three stooges who thought of overthrowing the government? Li Chunhua silently approved. Great minds think alike.

His name? Long Haoran was in deep thought before coughing in between his lies, "It’s Long...San." He would never give his name to a gang with unknown propaganda.

His blue orbs, swirling with vigilance, secretly surveyed the possible escape routes he could use, but beside the narrow path leading to the door outside, which was blocked by the iron-faced lady, recalling how easily she lifted him by the collar, how fast she was, and how tough her face was, Long Haoran ultimately gave up.

His sharp brows, resembling blades, furrowed, imagining countless scenarios in his mind, all of which ended up getting him caught.

Siri didn’t mind the man being Long San, Long Er, Long Li, or whatever; she just wanted to establish the slavery contract.

The court session progressed with the elf immersed in his character; question after question was thrown at the man.

Li Chunhua, on the other hand, was reduced to being a spectator as she listened to the pretentious judge inquire about the defendant’s age, stats, and many more personal details, turning the court session into a job interview.

The interrogation goes on and on, making her feel bored. She yawned until...

"What was your previous occupation?"

"A cook." Long Haoran answered this one truthfully, contrary to the previous ones, because it was his passion, which he regretted confessing in the near future.

That answer was like a bomb exploding in the depths of a certain someone’s mind, eradicating all the drowsiness and invigorating the person’s spirit with tons of stimulants.

"What did you say?"

This time, it was not the elf that asked, but Li Chunhua, whose sleepiness vanished the moment she heard the man’s answer.

"Cook," Long Haoran repeated.

Li Chunhua stared at Long Haoran for a few seconds before a series of questions gushed out of her mouth, turning the next segment into a rap battle between the two on the subject of food.

Li Chunhua would mention a variety of dishes from Sichuan cuisine, Shendong, to the Cantonese regions, and the Long guy was able to come up with different ways of cooking, wetting Li Chunhua’s palette until her lips were moist.

The words became hard to understand as the seconds went by, contrary to their master’s eyes, which seemed to be hiding a malicious intention and glowing with a red glint whenever her opponent rapper was able to keep up. The other three spectating suddenly had a bad premonition.

"Noodles!"

"Scallion oil noodles, bacon pan-fried noodles, Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles with beef..."

The two kept croaking like frogs about recipes until their voices sounded like sandpaper grazing on the surface of the wood.

When Li Chunhua was fully satisfied, the paper on the elf’s hand was seized brusquely, and in an ugly voice, she delivered her verdict.

"Master, let me do it."

Siri looked at his master in confusion, who was in turn eyeing the long guy with a hungry-filled gaze as if the man were some kind of Michelin-starred dish.

What’s more baffling was...

The contents of the paper were supposed to be this:

The salted fish landowner took pity on the defendant and used her most precious herbs and cauldron to heal him.

The summary of expenses is here as follows: 1000 gold coins for Third-Class Ivory Sassafras, 500 gold coins for Second-Class Sanguine Mustard, and 750 coins for Second-Class Star Borage. The total amount of the defendant’s liability is 2250 gold coins.

The defendant is either given a choice to be a free laborer of the territory for six months with meals and accommodation included in the benefits or subjected to Siri’s 1001 creative ways of torture.

But Li Chunhua twisted the words to this:

The salted fish landowner took pity on the defendant and used her most precious herbs and cauldron to heal him.

The summary of expenses is here as follows: 100,000 gold coins for Third-Class Ivory Sassafras, 50,000 gold coins for Second-Class Sanguine Mustard, and 75,000 coins for Second-Class Star Borage. The total amount of the defendant’s liability is 225,000 gold coins.

Defendant is either given a choice to be a free laborer of the territory forever with meals and accommodation included in the benefits or be gone in the face of Green Planet.

225,000? Gone from the face of the planet? The elf sucked in a mouthful of cold air and peeked at the paper, making sure he didn’t write the price wrong or the death sentence part.

Which eye did Master use to read the paper? Or is she number-illiterate?
