Chapter 94: When Luck defies Death (2)

Standing several meters from the hole in the secret realm was Loli Elga, who was currently staring at the traces of crimson blood on the withered leaves. She bent over, picked up a leaf, and sniffed.

The corner of her lips tilted down. It doesn’t belong to a monster, which means it must be from a player.

Elga swept her eyes away from the surroundings and noticed a trail of blood leading in a different direction. She walked along the bloody trail, heading towards the mountaintop.

Monsters popped while she trudged along the path, but the double-handed weapon Master hacked them to pieces.

-----

[You’ve got a Gold-Grade, Crestfallen Alchemy Cauldron.]

A metal cauldron with a diameter of half a meter and radiating blue faint light appeared. Weird inscriptions of unfamiliar monster were forged on its body, flying on the clouds.

Little Mantou and Little Ginseng circled around the cauldron curiously and touched the cold surface.

"The carvings are so lifelike that I thought they would come out. I think I’ve seen this monster from a book in my father’s library." Little Mantou commented, looking at the monster whose body was of a feral lion tribe and the head and wings of a long-beaked bird from a winged tribe.

"Ji ji ji." (It’s so ugly.) Little Ginseng stepped back.

What?

An alchemy cauldron?

Siri was in disbelief. From what he knows, the one that had the highest chance of being obtained in these system reward chests was equipment that was one grade lower than the quality of the chest. But his master actually got a golden-grade item and even triggered the lowest possibility.

Was it just mere coincidence?

The elf was knowledgeable when it came to alchemy. The blue light signifies that the material used was an astral ore, which was rare in the Elven Kingdom and only transported from a special dwarf planets specializing in mining and forging equipment.

Although it wasn’t the most powerful cauldron, it was still sought after among the circle of Master Alchemists due to its good heat conductivity, which increases the chances of successfully concocting master-grade potions, elixirs, and pills.

Li Chunhua wanted to see the cauldron up close, but because she was in the middle of injecting qi into the man, she left the task to the elf, who had already stood up and was admiring the big pot.

The shape and size were no different from the ones her master used. Only the silver carvings were peculiar.

She tapped on the item description.

[Crestfallen Alchemy Cauldron- Gold-Grade

-Increased the success of concocting the Beginner-grade formula by 15%, the Apprentice-grade formula by 10%, and the Master-grade formula by 5%]

Li Chunhua tilted her head, having no clue if the item was good enough. Thus, she waited for the elf’s reactions.

The more Siri looked at the item’s properties, the more he was satisfied, particularly with the alchemy buff the cauldron possessed. A 5% boost was already very good. If they were to auction this item, it would easily be priced for at least 10,000 gold coins.

"This cauldron is enough for a Master Grade formula, a healing potion. With this, we only needed the herbs." Siri’s mind returned to reality after he realized that it was impossible for them to obtain the herbs from the chest just because they needed them.

Ah.

How could he forget?

The system wasn’t a benevolent fairy godmother with a magic wand that would cater to everyone’s wishes.

It was enough?

Li Chunhua’s eyes lit up after receiving the feedback. She eyed the remaining chests and hooked another gold chest with her foot.

She silently chanted in her heart three times, ’Ancestor, thank you for your blessing. Please help Little Baozi again. I promised to reduce my food consumption by 1% starting from the next meal’, before opening the chest.

Little Mantou and the Baby Jiji Ginseng ran behind Li Chunhua after noticing her opening the chest. They looked intently at what sort of item they would get this time.

Siri observed the hopeful expression on his Master’s face. The elf didn’t have the heart to deliver the truth.

The cauldron was without a doubt just beginner’s luck, and it won’t happen again. His hand, which was placed on top of the cauldron’s lid, was clenched. He was so useless.

But his perception of the system as being a stingy godmother who cuts off her children’s allowances was broken when he saw something unbelievable.

-1 golden chest

Ding

[You’ve got Third-Class Ivory Sassafras.]

"I got it!" Li Chunhua was thrilled.

-1 golden chest

Ding

[You’ve got a second-class Sanguine Mustard.]

"The second one!" Li Chunhua’s eyes brightened.

-1 silver chest

Ding

[You’ve got Second-Class Star Borage]

(@^0^)

"It’s done!" Li Chunhua, after getting the three herbs in a row by opening two golden chests and a silver chest, was very happy and couldn’t help but exclaim. "The system is so kind!" It must be making up for its deeds earlier in confiscating their loots.

It was so kind that Li Chunhua almost called it Benefactor on the spot and had an urge to build an altar and lit incense sticks.

Little Mantou and Little Ginseng also nodded and approved her praise. "Woohoo, handsome brother/ stranger will be saved!"

Siri: "..."

He guessed that among the four, he was the only stepson. Siri lamented.

----

In the kitchen, Siri was still dazedly looking at the herbs that he was brooding, which were difficult to find given that they were still in the early stages of the game.

After racking his brains for a possible explanation for the phenomena, the elf, who was called by his mentor a book sage, was unable to come up with a logical reason.

If it was just once, then it would be a coincidence, but if it’s happening multiple times, then it’s no longer a fluke.

The expression on Siri’s face changed.

His master must...

Ate several tons of Seventh-Class Lucky Clover!

Sigh. Who am I kidding?

In the history of their elven race, only one was able to see a lucky clover, and it was one of their founders, Victor No. 78, and that was the main factor in him winning the centennial games.

The very first spellcaster- Nox Winterfrost.

----

Meanwhile, Li Chunhua, after luckily obtaining the needed ingredients for the healing potion, opened the some of the chests in a good mood.

The ten bronze chests gave her nine pieces of equipment of bronze quality and an herbal seed called Astralagaux Stalk, which she had found before.

Opening the four silver chests provided her with two pieces of equipment, aside from a weapon called the Moonshadow sword and a mana ore, a necessary component of some magic facilities that require mana to operate. An example would be a fire-magic arrow tower.

The other higher-level chests were tossed back in her inventory as she returned her focus to the man who struck her with familiarity.

She gazed at him for more time, engraving his face on her mind, trying to find a match.

After a few minutes, she was hungry, though, the book suddenly sprang into her mind. Why is that?

"Master, have you fallen in love with him?" Little Mantou teased at the side, observing his master’s roguish behavior.

"Ji ji ji." (Master likes handsome brother?)

"Actually, his face reminded me of food," Li Chunhua honestly replied without an ounce of romantic hint.

If Brother knows it all had a beauty filter, Li Chunhua had a food filter on and it was the latest upgraded version. No matter how pristine, peerless, or handsome a person can be, her eyes only saw shadows of food.

Oh, right, she didn’t have dinner yet in the secret realm. She checked her inbox and was startled to see more than dozens of messages from Player Hua asking about her well-being and as to why she couldn’t be contacted.

Little Mantou and Little Ginseng were speechless. "..." Their master’s brain is wired differently.

---

[Player Little Baozi]: I was away in a special place.

[Player Hua]: I thought something bad had happened to you. My husband and I were worried.

The middle-aged woman patted her chest in relief after knowing their benefactor was alright.

Li Chunhua, on the other hand, didn’t want to tell them about her encounter in the Secret Realm because it would expose her identity, so she chose to change the topic.

[Player Little Baozi]: Uhm, about the breakfast...

[Player Hua]: I have them. I will reheat them for you, and once I’m done, I will send them right away.

[Player Little Baozi]: Thank you.

[You’ve received a roll of cotton fabric.]

[You’ve received one set of sewing tools.]

[You’ve received a blanket.]

The middle-aged woman was stunned. These are rare items. How can Baozi give them away so easily?

[Player Hua]: I can’t take it.

[Player Little Baozi]: I have something to discuss later.

Li Chunhua looked at the redundant supplies in her inventory—the 200 treasure chests too (10%)—and began to think about exchanging them to hasten the territory upgrade. So she could have a proper rest. All those running in the secret realm made her exhausted.

Sigh. Life is so hard.

Creak-

The door of the bedroom opened and Siri with a pale face came in with a cup in his hand with small amount of red liquid. .

Li Chunhua stood up, ran towards him.

"Brother Siri! Are you okay?" Li Chunhua worriedly asked.

Little Mantou and Little Ginseng also followed surrounded the elf.

"I’m alright." Siri responded before stuffing the cup in his Master’s hand. "Make him drink it."

With the Elf’s insistence, Li Chunhua grabbed the cup and instantly went over the man because his condition was urgent. She squeezed the man’s cheeks and went to pour the contents of the cup slowly on his mouth.

The red liquid flowed and disappeared after touching the man’s tongue and the HP that was on the critical line slowly increased by 1 point every second.

This made them feel relieved.

(A/N: I will upload the second Chapter later because I had Christmas party. It ended quite late and I’m tipsy.)
