Chapter 69: The Thug-like Cheering Squad

[Hallow Village: Nightmare Difficulty Dungeon]

Long Haoran was currently being chased by a group of monsters. Their appearance was very similar to creatures in several sci-fi movies and apocalyptic games his brother had watched and played before.

[Undead Lv. 1 (HP: 30/30)]

There were a dozen of these monsters, and their speed was two times faster than that of a normal human being. They swung their rotten arms, trying to catch him.

He couldn’t go over the forest and the village since they were blocked by something, which had led him to navigate his way to the path wisely.

The dirt road was only two meters wide and fifteen meters long, which was too small to move around while dodging the series of attacks.

Bang-

Bang-

Bang-

Long Haoran’s hands gripped the handle of the frying pan tightly before delivering blows. Small red screens showing damage indicators floated [-15], [-10], [-20], and so on.

He noticed all of his attacks that landed on the monster’s head caused the most damage, so he started aiming for their heads, and after spending roughly another 20 minutes, he was finally able to eliminate all of them.

The corpse of the undead disappeared. The dagger he used before was dropped on the ground.

The frying pan, whose butt was full of rotten-smelling mucous liquid, was crying miserably.

His previous master constructed a special box for it and treated it very well, like its son, placing it on the golden pedestal wherever it went, but his current master treated him so horribly!

Long Haoran had tried using a dagger, but he couldn’t retrieve it after it sank onto one of the monsters, leaving him no choice but to turn the frying pan into the main weapon, and it actually worked, although it was a lot weaker than before when it defeated the huge snake.

[Special Skill: Smashed everything to smithereens is not triggered. Enemy units are not qualified to be ingredients.]

The system had informed him of this before he was surrounded by the first wave.

He viewed his status screen and noticed the debuff of ’Fatique’ next to the status ailments. He needed to rest, but the system had other plans for him.

[Wave 2 is coming at 5:00]

[Player, be ready.]

The scenery once again changed, and he was now standing inside a room. A single wooden bed with a mattress, pillows, and blankets was in the left corner. There was a wooden cabinet beside it.

It seemed abandoned for quite some time due to the cobwebs and layers of dust.

Long Haoran frowned after inspecting the size of the room, four by four meters, much smaller than the dirt road.

With the debuff, his strength and agility were reduced by ten percent. If he continued with this pace, he wouldn’t be able to hold on, especially when he didn’t know how many of these so-called ’waves’ were left.

But it wouldn’t do him any good if he wasted his time complaining and thus made preparations for the battle based on his experience from minutes ago.

He picked up his dagger and began tearing the mattress and blankets to create a shield pad on his arms, legs and stomach before inspecting the closet.

Clothes belonging to a young lady entered his sight. He started rummaging until he found a wooden chest on the bottom, which was locked. He searched for the key, groping around, but found nothing.

When he was certain there was nothing valuable in it, he closed the closet door and tried breaking the lock of the wooden chest, which was the size of a standard toolbox. After spending another two minutes, the contents of the chest were revealed.

There was a pink notebook, a pendant, and paper.

[You’ve obtained Anira’s journal.]

[You’ve obtained a mysterious pendant.]

[You’ve obtained the Hallow Village Map.]

Long Haoran wanted to skim through the things, but looking at the time of [1:54] floating over the center of the room, Long Haoran stuffed them inside his clothes instead, securing them in his waist.

There was a door two meters ahead. He picked up the frying pan with his right hand, approached the door, and pressed his ears against it. After he didn’t pick up any familiar snarling or other sounds, he slowly opened the door.

---

Inside the gym, after Gong Panli had rejected his father’s offer and gave the map and the key back, he returned inside the gym, followed by the rest.

The man sent by his father didn’t insist and went back after seeing that Gong Panli was stubborn in his decision.

"Since the team was created, we’ll go over the opponent’s abilities." Gong Panli started explaining things about the composition of the rival team. Although Gong Panli didn’t show his true thoughts, the people could still detect that his mood was low and he was trying to hide it.

They were curious why he didn’t accept his father’s generosity. This is the case for Tan Ge and his friend.

While Siri and Mr. Fang could guess the reason behind Gong Panli’s choice,.

This lad knows he wouldn’t be able to keep those supplies. Mr. Fang shakes his head in resignation.

On the other hand, the simple-minded Li Chunhua and Little Mantou listened attentively like diligent students, motivated by the mission rewards.

Bring it on! Foodies never back down if it’s related to food!

"There are five ability users in his team, and their abilities vary from strength-enhanced to speed-enhanced to wood, metal, and lightning..."

Little Mantou and Li Chunhua nodded.

Gong Panli continued to explain.

Tan Ge and his friend didn’t have the energy to listen because they already knew the results. They were only low-tier ability users, and against opponents of high caliber, they wouldn’t even last for a minute, but their fear of Li Chunhua overwhelmed their fear of the other party.

The time ticked by, and soon enough, the designated hour for the match has arrived.

The group opened the door of the gym, and they were astounded by what they saw.

There were many grandmothers and children with bandanas tied around their heads with their sleeves rolled, and each was carrying a pot, a ladle, and other things.

When they saw Gong Panli and the rest, they shouted their cheers in loud, booming voices before beating the pots like drums and gongs, producing thunderous noises.

The cheers being yelled are summarized in this statement.

"Beat their ass*s! Turn them into scum! And make sure they regret living! Destroy them!"

Li Chunhua and the rest: "..." Is this still the Outer District? Why did they feel it had turned into a den of thugs?
