Chapter 26: A Solution to the Foodie Crisis
After the Elder Foxes of the Celestial Clan left, Little Mantou was delighted. He started running and skipping around the territory in a celebratory mood.
Li Chunhua looked at him, while Siri looked at his Master. "Master, they nearly killed you. Why did you let them go easily?"
He asked the question in a slightly angry tone. His brows creased, making his visage slightly sharper. If it weren’t for being the little fox’s clansmen, Siri would have bestowed a heavier punishment on those audacious foxes that dared to hurt his master.
Li Chunhua turned around before replying, "Who said I’d let them go?" If it were any other person, he or she would be dead.
Li Chunhua remembered the strength of the attack and patted her chest in relief. If not for the qi that shielded her or because of her ridiculous stats, she will likely sustain injuries or maybe even perish.
But those Uncle Foxes didn’t have any bloodthirsty aura surrounding them like Little Mantou, which made her adapt another method of punishment.
Siri raised his eyebrows, confused by her words. Clearly, his master just let them escape unscathed and even gave them gifts, so what does she mean by those words? Did he miss something?
Noticing Siri was pondering, Li Chunhua cleared her throat before satisfying his curiosity: "I placed a milder version of Level 5 Cuckoo Bird’s spell on them."
"Cuckoo Bird’s spell?" It was his first time hearing that such a spell existed. Even with his extensive knowledge of the Grimoire, he never came across such a spell, and his Master even stated it was a Level 5.
A 5th-ring spell? Did he really miss a book in the Elf Forest Library? But hold on, how can a human learn such a high-level spell when it’s barely the first day and his Master hasn’t even undergone a class change yet.
And if she did acquire a class related to spell casting, shouldn’t she be learning a 1st-ring spell first? How can she skip to the 5th-ring?
And the amount of mana used in the 5th-ring spell is quite large. How is she able to supply the mana required to activate the spell?
This is absurd.
He doesn’t want to believe her, but his Master didn’t have the habit of bluffing.
"This reminds me that I need to check on Xun Minsheng and his goons. I’ll check on them tomorrow to see if Senior Sister’s spell is working."
Who is Xun Mingheng?
And a Senior Sister?
Could she be Master’s Personal Mage Tutor?
But aren’t the players of the Centennial Games from a civilization without magic?
There were thousands of questions in Siri’s mind about his Master, but it would be quite impolite for him to pry into her origins, so he chose to stay quiet and wait for his Master to personally divulge them.
After they finished sending the guests off, Li Chunhua remembered the pastries and biscuits Brother Siri made. She called Little Mantou and Siri inside for a snack break, and while at it, she made a rough inspection of her inventory.
There were seven types of seeds she had gotten from exterminating the bloodthirsty rabbits: cabbage, tomato, bell pepper, rice, corn, carrot, orange, and cucumber, and the rest were edible plants from their foraging.
The third class had a thousand units, the fourth class had less than five hundred, the fifth class had less than two hundred, excluding the ginseng, with only seven remaining, and the sixth plant only had seven units left after giving some to the Uncle Foxes.
The previous loots she obtained including those golden chests, happy fat water, and copper coins from exterminating the rabbits, were all gone, as were the woods and limestone.
Now, she was a pauper and couldn’t even build a single territory building.
Recalling this, she suddenly remembered her post in the trade market about the acquisition of lime stones. She needs to take it down.
She opened her interface, and the moment she clicked on the icon of a small house, she was immediately bombarded with blue screens popping.
[You got a message.]
[You got a message.]
[You got a mes...]
Shocked, she quickly disabled the notification function, and the silence she wanted finally returned. With those heart-attack-inducing sounds gone, Li Chunhua was able to navigate the interface in peace, and after taking down the post, she tapped her inbox, which had a staggering 99999+ messages.
"What’s the matter, Master?" Siri asked while setting another tray of pastries on the table, detecting the hint of fatigue in her expression.
A player’s interface would not be visible to others unless the player itself gave permission, and so that’s why Siri didn’t know the cause of it.
Little Mantou didn’t join them at all because he was busy admiring and playing with the loots he indirectly acquired from the old fogies.
"So many people messaged me." Li Chunhua responded and selected one message.
[Brother Niu]: Little Brother Baozi, please help me out. Do you have fresh Nori seaweed? I need it for my native. I’m willing to exchange happy fat water, wood, seeds, copper coins, or anything else you demand.
Before she was rich, she didn’t place importance on the copper coins, but after experiencing poverty, Li Chunhua will not look down on them anymore, but Fresh Nori Seaweeds. Isn’t that something from the sea? But there’s only a forest here.
She was instantly deflated.
[Little Baozi]: Unfortunately, I don’t have the seaweed that you wanted. I only have other plants. But since seaweed is also a plant, how about trying it first?
Li Chunhua crossed her fingers, wishing she could win some deals. She needed copper coins for the territory buildings.
The player with the pseudonym ’Brother Niu’ looked at his native sitting on the portal that had not come down from the stone platform since he was summoned because it was waiting for his seaweeds. The merman was fanning itself with his hands while languidly basking under the sun.
There was a pink bar above its head labeled [Loyalty], and it was less than half.
If he waits any longer or offers it something it doesn’t want, it will probably jump like the Unluckiest player’s Paladin immediately.
Either way was dead end, so why not try Little Baozi’s suggestion? Though he did not have much confidence if it will succeed.
[Brother Niu]: Alright, Brother Baozi, can I see it?
Li Chunhua immediately sent one of the 3rd-class plants to Player Niu.
[You’ve got one unit of Axtralaugus stalk.]
A half-foot grass talk with a greenish blue hue appeared on player ’Brother Niu’. The weird-looking stalk emitted a distinct mixed scent of mint and jasmine. Brother Niu could feel his mind refreshed when he inhaled the a single whiff, and this increased his hope.
[Axtralaugus Stalk
- Grade: 3rd-Class
- Main guiding herb for dispelling basic debuff...]
The merman sniffed the air, and its body flickered.
Brother Niu wanted to read the rest of the description, but a blue shadow that smelled of ocean water appeared in front of him like a ghost, snatching the stalk from his hand and laughing in the air. "What great luck! I’m so lucky!"
Brother Niu stepped aside and observed the man, who was laughing out loud.
So he doesn’t have to find seaweed anymore, right?
The merman seems happy.
A few minutes later, in the Global Chat, in the midst of the foodie summoning crisis that is not yet resolved, Brother Niu posted something.
It was a picture of a human and a blue-haired, stunning, slender merman. They were both looking at the camera, raising their fingers in a peace sign.
There were more pictures in which the two assumed different poses showing their friendly bond, like bending their arms into a heart shape or climbing on each other’s backs.
If the other players hadn’t known beforehand that the merman was a summoned native, they would have thought that the two were brothers who had a great relationship with each other because of the chemistry between them.
[Brother Niu]: This is my new brother Medina! Show him some love!
In an instant, almost all players with summoned natives kneeled and kowtowed in front of the screen with Brother Niu’s blatant display of arrogance.
⊙﹏⊙
[Seafood Noodles]: Darn it! Granpa Niu, teach me how!
[Beef Noodles]: +1
[Under the Earthen Sky]: +1
[I’m Miserable]: +1
[Fast and the Curious]: +14506
Meanwhile, on Li Chunhua’s side, she looked at the 40 copper coins, two happy fat water, and the wheat seed with tears of happiness.
She wasn’t poor anymore!
Just then, her inbox was flooded with messages ordering plants.
Li Chunhua read the contents and stretched her lips into a smile.
(Little Baozi: Thanks to Fireyaro for the gift. (❁´◡`❁))
