Chapter 779: Chapter 467 For the Wizard (5.6k)_2

Third Rank Wizards were already High Rank Wizards, and although specific statistical numbers were unknown, they were clearly not numerous based on everyday observations.

Among the limited Third Rank Wizards, finding up to several dozens of suitable candidates willing to undertake the mission was not an easy task.

However, a conversation with Lance had made him suddenly realize that he had perhaps been too presumptive.

Among the wizards, while there were those who were weak and self-serving, there were also those who harbored hatred towards the Divine and were willing to sacrifice themselves for the wizards.

The wizards who had been chosen, at least from what was seen now, belonged to the latter group.

Colin looked around and shook his head in his heart.

Compared to these wizards, he was actually the one with the least awareness.

"What about you, Sir Colin? Why are you taking part in this mission?" Yeats suddenly asked.

Colin paused and replied calmly, "I am here to obtain the Divine Blood."

He too hated the Divine, wanted to eradicate the Divine, and had people he wanted to protect.

But those were more specific targets, not the broad concept of ’wizards’ as a group.

After all, he wasn’t born in this world and didn’t have the willing heart to sacrifice for the side of the wizards, like the people here did.

Yeats was taken aback for a moment. After a brief reflection, Lance suddenly smiled,

"The rewards for this mission are indeed generous. If we can complete it, it would probably be the best way for us, the Third Rank Wizards, to obtain Divine Blood.

Otherwise, other methods are either unrealistic or require much more effort and also depend on luck."

Colin nodded in agreement.

"And you, Lord O’Keefe? Why are you participating in this mission?" Lance asked again.

"...Just like you, it’s for the wizards," O’Keefe said, somewhat nervously.

Lance nodded, then smiled again, "Although I am indeed participating for the sake of the wizards, on the other hand, like Sir Colin, it is for the generous mission rewards. My School has lost its Fourth Rank inheritance due to some reasons..."

"As long as it doesn’t involve betraying the wizards, enhancing one’s personal power is in some ways beneficial for the wizards too," Jacqueline suddenly said.

Colin slightly raised his brows; this view was quite unique.

But then again, it made sense as the individual wizards and the community of wizards shared common interests. In some ways, the strength of an individual was the strength of the whole, and vice versa.

"Next."

At that moment, the door of the adjacent room suddenly opened. Mill’s calm voice, along with Ryden stepping out, carried through.

Ryden’s assessment had ended, and it was time for the next person.

Yeats’s gaze flickered, he stepped forward and as he brushed past Ryden, he suddenly paused and asked,

"Was the assessment smooth, Lord Ryden?"

"Not bad," Ryden nodded calmly.

Yeats nodded, took a deep breath, and walked into the assessment room.

Although Ryden had finished his assessment, he didn’t leave; he needed to wait for the results.

In the following time, they mostly remained silent.

Lance tried to ask Ryden for specifics about his assessment but was refused as Mill had instructed confidentiality.

Thus, two hours quickly passed.

Everyone had completed their assessments.

Colin felt quite good about himself; Mill’s assessment wasn’t actually hard, involving some written tests and some practical operations.

However, to be safe, he still gave it his all.

Bright Crystal shone, spreading soft White Light throughout the room.

Mill stepped onto the podium and announced the results slowly,

"The assessment is over. I’m sorry, O’Keefe, you might need to opt out of this mission."

Seemingly not intending to disclose the specific rankings, Mill stopped after that announcement.

Below the podium, the blonde Witch was slightly taken aback, her face a bit downcast, but she quickly accepted the result and nodded lightly.

She stood up, took a light breath, turned to face the gathered wizards, and said, "I wish you all a successful mission, the wizards will ultimately prevail over the Divine!"

The room suddenly went quiet. Just as O’Keefe’s face flushed, Ryden was the first to laugh heartily,

"Wizards will ultimately prevail over the Divine!"

Echoes of agreement followed soon after.

"Indeed, wizards will ultimately prevail over the Divine," Mill also showed a smile on the podium,

"Tonight’s training is over. Everyone, make sure to revisit the content we’ve studied recently as there are only a few days left until the mission officially begins."

"As for O’Keefe, these days you might need to keep staying here until this mission ends, and then you will be free to leave."

With that, Mill’s figure quietly vanished from the podium.

Seeing this, the wizards also stood up, preparing to leave.

Colin exited the basement, suddenly feeling a stirring in his heart.

’No sounds of battle, has the daytime fight initiated by the wizards ended?’

He pondered for a moment and then headed alone to the castle garden.

Below the dark night sky was the similarly dark ocean. The wizard’s fleet had returned to its original position from dawn, as if it had never moved; the dull surface of the ships nearly merged with the sea. From afar, only flickers of light were visible, resembling a starry sky sunk into the ocean.

’It was indeed just a feint.’ Colin understood in his heart, no longer pausing, he turned and walked towards his room.

In two days, he would have finished reading all the research material on Divine Power. Then, he would know whether he still needed to continue participating in this mission.
