The Best Actor Insists On Living With Me!
Chapter 1016 - 1007: Vacation (1)

Chapter 1016: Chapter 1007: Vacation (1)

In ancient times, it was cliff diving; in modern times, it’s not as dramatic as jumping off a building.

But chasing cars, riding heavy motorcycles, and parkour across urban rooftops are all basic moves. This film is scheduled to start shooting after the New Year, and there’s a break period in between. Xia Siyu has already decided to learn how to ride a heavy motorcycle and might even get certified.

While she could hire a stunt double for these scenes, the thrill of riding a motorcycle herself is something no double could replicate. Not only does she want to learn to ride motorcycles, but she also wants to familiarize herself with firearms. For this, she figured she’d need to enroll in a class as well.

After all, guns are banned in her country. Though she could get by without practicing, posing for the shot and having a stunt double handle the action would suffice. But Xia Siyu believes that even if her own presence in the film lasts for just a few seconds, the sense of mastery and boldness she exhibits would be entirely different.

Her character in the film is a drug trafficker, the second-in-command, someone with blood on her hands. Flowery, flashy martial arts for show just wouldn’t suffice. If that’s the case, she might as well be acting in web dramas. And nowadays, well-produced web dramas even rival the cinematic quality of films, but only poorly-made productions would do for such superficial performances.

This sense of sharpness and decisiveness isn’t something she can achieve by merely striking a pose—it requires hands-on experience to achieve that authenticity.

If her goal was simply to take any random job and earn a quick paycheck, it’d be a different matter entirely. But right now, she wants to improve as quickly as possible, so naturally, she has to double down on her efforts.

She could only blame herself for wasting the past seven years in a haze, spending time watching dramas and variety shows at home. She realizes she could have used that time to get a diving license, a firearm license, rehearse more stage performances, or enhance her professional skills.

Art knows no bounds, but youth and time lost certainly aren’t easy to reclaim. Thankfully, she still has an opportunity now, a chance to work hard and prove herself.

Bo Yan had just been shaken by her talent, and now, seeing her New Year plan, he felt a vague sense of shame.

Only an incompetent man would feel jealousy and imbalance because of his wife’s brilliance. In the end, such a man would shift the blame to her, accusing her of being "too assertive" or saying she "didn’t give him the dignity a man needs."

Dignity is earned for oneself, not granted by others. Xia Siyu’s success may be partly due to innate talent, but she matches it with 100% effort. This is something even he might not be able to achieve.

Of course, he does have a diving license, and while he doesn’t have a firearm license, he did learn how to handle guns when he studied abroad in America. As for heavy motorcycles—he once competed in racing with Bo Yi and won eight million yuan from him.

When it comes to stage plays, before entering the entertainment industry, he performed in university clubs. And when he first joined the acting industry, he trained his craft by working in theater productions. But these achievements are not what he takes pride in. Perhaps the smooth sailing he’s experienced in recent years caused him to forget the principle that learning has no endpoint.

Xia Siyu’s diligence shouldn’t be a source of his insecurity; instead, it should serve as his motivation to strive harder.

After finishing her skincare routine, Xia Siyu noticed Bo Yan staring fixedly at her. She froze for a moment. "Did I not rub my lotion evenly?"

Bo Yan shook his head. Xia Siyu was puzzled. "Then why are you staring at me like that?"

Bo Yan extended his arm, pulling her into his embrace. "You’re so beautiful."

Xia Siyu, though confused, proudly lifted her chin. "Is this the first day you realized I’m pretty?"

Bo Yan shook his head again, gently pushed her away, and kissed her cheek. "You’re beautiful everywhere."
