Chapter 82: Chapter 82 New Year’s Eve Prayer for Blessings

After several months of building momentum.

The Bilibili account Xiao Fei originally created to document the baby’s growth now has 300,000 followers.

For all kinds of reasons, though,

most of these followers are not here just for the baby.

So even though the follower count broke past 300,000, the system didn’t hand out another reward.

Shortly after Tang Yuxin posted this update, a flurry of comments started popping up below.

[Waaah, I’m so jealous of the uploader’s life!]

...

"Hahahaha..."

These silly netizens sure have a knack for bringing endless joy to people.

Reading through the humorous comments under the post, Tang Yuxin laughed uncontrollably, curled up in Xiao Fei’s arms, gasping for air between the fits of laughter.

"Eeya...?"

"Ya... ya... guya..."

"Eeya ya... pfft..."

The three little angels were drawn in by Tang Yuxin’s laughter and thought Mommy was playing some sort of game with them, so they started to join in the excitement.

Soon, around 11 PM, the two families went out with the babies.

They planned to go to Buer Temple to burn incense.

Right before heading out, though, Wang Fang suddenly decided to stay behind.

"All three little ones are asleep. We can’t drag them out in the middle of the night, can we? Babies need their rest to sleep peacefully, so I’ll stay back."

Everyone agreed after thinking it over, so Xiao Jun decided he’d burn incense at the temple on Wang Fang’s behalf.

And so, five people piled into Xiao Jun’s minivan and drove off.

As the car gradually left the city center, entering the surrounding towns...

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Suddenly, brilliant fireworks lit up the night sky.

"Wow! Fireworks!"

Tang Yuxin pressed her face against the car window, wide-eyed as she watched the fleeting, blooming beauty of the fireworks.

"Honey, I still remember when I was a kid, fireworks used to be everywhere during New Year’s, even in the bustling city. Now you only see them in small towns."

"Well, they banned them in the city, after all."

Xiao Fei wrapped his arm around Tang Yuxin’s waist.

She was wearing a soft red beanie, a white wool sweater with a fleece-lined short skirt, and thick, fleece-lined tights paired with knee-high heeled boots. On top of that, she had a bright red coat trimmed with fluffy fur around the collar and cuffs.

Her delicately made-up, sweet face glowed under the light of the fireworks, making her look like an enchanting sprite of the night.

"Mmm..."

Noticing Xiao Fei’s arm tightening slightly around her waist, Tang Yuxin’s body involuntarily leaned closer into him.

The familiar scent in the air brought a lazy smile to her lips, making her not want to move at all.

As they approached Buer Temple, the car slowed down.

The streets outside were becoming more crowded.

It was packed with people coming to burn incense.

After much effort, Xiao Jun finally managed to park the car. Stepping outside, Tang Yuxin cupped her hands to her mouth, exhaling a puff of warm breath.

A misty cloud formed in front of her.

"Phew phew, honey, it’s so cold!"

Practically bouncing in front of Xiao Fei, Tang Yuxin shivered.

Mrs. Tang couldn’t help but scold her, "Who told you to wear so little? It’s winter and you’re still showing off your legs."

"Mom! This is super thick!"

Tang Yuxin pouted, puffing out her cheeks as she lifted her right leg slightly.

Xiao Fei laughed and took Tang Yuxin’s hands into his own, using the warmth of his palms to warm her up.

"Feeling better now?"

"Mmm-hmm, much better!"

Having him by her side was like carrying a personal heater around—instant warmth.

Tang Yuxin’s crescent-shaped smile became even more radiant.

Holding Xiao Fei’s hand, she looked around at the environment of Buer Temple.

The place was bustling with a huge crowd, men and women, young and old, all kinds of people gathered here.

There were businesspeople, government workers, regular laborers, housewives, and children.

Some enterprising street vendors had set up stalls outside the temple, selling all kinds of warm snacks and even firecrackers.

Watching kids darting around with sparklers in hand, Tang Yuxin’s gaze softened with a hint of longing.

One day, her and Xiao Fei’s kids would probably be like this too, right?

She glanced up at Xiao Fei beside her. The lighting traced the perfect contours of his profile.

His tall and strong figure exuded an overwhelming sense of security.

On second thought, Tang Yuxin decided their future children would undoubtedly be a million times cuter than those little brats!

"What are you thinking about?"

"I was just thinking..."

At that very moment, the New Year’s bell rang out from within Buer Temple.

Tang Yuxin took advantage of the moment to wrap her arms around Xiao Fei’s arm, pulling him slightly downward before leaning in to plant a kiss on him.

"I was thinking, Happy New Year!"

A bit startled by his wife’s sudden affectionate ambush, Xiao Fei pinched her soft cheeks with a chuckle and said, "Happy New Year."

His eyes sparkled with warmth, those bright, shining pupils gleaming as if they held the stars within, captivating Tang Yuxin completely.

Their phones buzzed simultaneously with a slew of notifications.

Taking a look, they realized it was a flood of New Year’s wishes from friends and family, perfectly timed to the second.

Xiao Fei and Tang Yuxin exchanged a smile.

"Let’s light a Longevity Lamp for the babies in the temple, okay, hubby?"

"Alright."

Joining the crowd, the family slowly made their way into the temple grounds.

At the incense stall, Xiao Fei bought the thickest and longest incense sticks. Two for themselves, one each, plus three more identical ones to symbolize their babies.

The sticks were nearly two meters long and wider than a child’s arm.

Tang Yuxin even struggled a bit to hold hers.

"Let me take it."

"Nope, I’m holding onto this myself, hehe~"

Gazing at the massive incense stick in her hands, Tang Yuxin squinted with determination.

This was her wish-laden New Year’s incense; she had to carry it from start to finish herself.

At the incense-lighting station, regular incense wasn’t too difficult to ignite, but oversized ones like these weren’t so easy.

The monks at Buer Temple had prepared a bronze tripod filled with burning wood, where vibrant flames danced.

This was specifically used to light these festive incense sticks. A bucket of oil was placed nearby to soak the sticks, making them easier to ignite.

After great effort, Tang Yuxin finally lit hers and cheered as she dashed toward the large incense altar.

"Hey!"

Planting the stick firmly into the altar, Tang Yuxin clasped her hands together, watching her New Year’s incense and silently making her wishes.

... Bless my husband with a long, healthy life! Bless me and my husband with lifelong happiness! Bless our babies to grow up healthy and strong!

"... Please make it happen, Buddha!"

Thwack!

Xiao Fei knocked gently on Tang Yuxin’s head.

"Silly girl, Buer Temple isn’t a Buddha temple—it’s dedicated to Guanyin."

"Mmm..."

Rubbing her head, Tang Yuxin pouted but quickly bowed again toward the altar.

"Please, Guanyin Goddess, I’m counting on you!"
