Chapter 221: Chapter 216: Rain Mage Takes Action and Dispels the Horde of Demons
Chi Songzi saved Enlightenment Dao. Po Xun and others, seeing that the situation had turned hopeless, no longer lingered and directly left Shennong’s Secret Realm.
However, they cautiously decided to linger on the outskirts of Mount Shu, ready to reduce Enlightenment Dao to dust if he emerged alone from Shennong’s Secret Realm. If Chi Songzi appeared together with him, they would simply leave.
After chasing those people away, Chi Songzi glanced at Enlightenment Dao and said, "It seems that the flesh body of the Red-Bottomed Horse Monkey has been taken over by you."
Upon hearing this, Enlightenment Dao couldn’t help but be startled inside. Could it be that Chi Songzi wanted to reclaim this physical body?
Chi Songzi shook his head and said, "You need not worry. Although the Red-Bottomed Horse Monkey Wuzhiqi was fated to meet me, his nature was too unruly. He caused great floods in the Nine Provinces and eventually brought about Yu the Great’s wrath. That too was destiny! Since you have obtained his flesh body and mastered the ’Divine Sky Torrential Rain’ supernatural power, you can be considered my disciple. I won’t trouble you over this."
Enlightenment Dao finally breathed a sigh of relief. Recalling how Wuzhiqi, after acquiring some skills, had stirred storms and floods, he felt a strange sense of familiarity. Hadn’t he himself done the same in the past? Gaining a little ability, feeling neither fear of heaven nor earth, then creating Havoc in Heaven and incurring Tathagata’s suppression.
But Wuzhiqi was formidable on his own, inciting floodwaters and angering Yu the Great, which ultimately led to his demise.
"When Wuzhiqi asked me to teach him Taoist arts, I was initially unwilling. But witnessing his sincere devotion, kneeling at my door year after year, and considering I had no successors, my heart softened and I passed on the ’Divine Sky Torrential Rain’ to him. Alas, that Macaca indeed turned out defiant, using my divine skills to wreak havoc rather than do good, which rightly led to his dire fate. Your acquisition of his body is also an act of destiny, haha!" Chi Songzi laughed somewhat helplessly.
Regardless of how it was put, Wuzhiqi was indeed a disciple of Chi Songzi, yet this disciple caused disaster and was slain by Yu the Great, which made Chi Songzi feel quite helpless.
Bowing deeply, Enlightenment Dao said, "In any case, I must thank you, Senior Chi Songzi, for your timely assistance. Otherwise, I might have fallen victim to those people’s hands."
This encirclement had been exceedingly dangerous, and a slight misstep could have resulted in turning to ashes. Although he had a total of three bodies, losing one would still be a tremendous loss. Moreover, with all nine Swallowing Dragon Steles in his possession, if they were taken by the Netherworld Blood Sea, where would he go to claim them back? If that Blood Sea Array were to be deployed, even a Saint might not wish to provoke them lightly.
Chi Songzi said, "As a successor of my ’Divine Sky Torrential Rain,’ it was only right for me to save you. I see you’ve mastered this supernatural power quite proficiently, and you haven’t shamed me!"
Enlightenment Dao couldn’t help but feel embarrassed, "Compared to Senior Chi Songzi, my light is but a firefly’s glow, how dare I contend with the luminous moon?"
Chi Songzi said, "For a mere Daluo Golden Immortal of the Third Heaven to battle alone against two Mixed Yuan Golden Immortals and a Daluo Golden Immortal, you have indeed done remarkably well! You are an extremely rare genius throughout the ages. Since there is some fate between us, I shall pass on all the techniques of ’Divine Sky Torrential Rain’ to you, withholding nothing, unlike when I taught Wuzhiqi."
Enlightenment Dao was overjoyed and said, "May I know what did Senior Chi Songzi withhold?"
Chi Songzi smiled and said, "Did you see how I created Divine Thunder out of the void?"
Enlightenment Dao immediately said, "I saw it, but such feats are only possible for the creator. How can I, a mere Daluo Golden Immortal of the Third Heaven, create out of the void? I haven’t even fully grasped the primordial essence."
Chi Songzi responded, "The creation I performed was merely for convenience. What’s most powerful about my suite of ’Divine Sky Torrential Rain’ is the summoning of thunder. How vast is the Heavenly Dao, and with its nine layers, naturally, there are many different types of thunder. The Purple Dawn Divine Thunder I summoned is considered quite powerful among divine thunders, and there are many more that are equally formidable."
Enlightenment Dao, listening with rapt attention, said, "Could it be that the hidden technique Senior speaks of is the supernatural power of conjuring thunder?"
Chi Songzi nodded, "Indeed, the power of conjuring thunder is no trivial matter. If such skills were learned by those who commit wicked deeds, they might suffer from the backlash of Heavenly Thunder. Though your actions are slightly rebellious, your forehead is clear and bright, and you act with integrity, not like one who commits villainous acts. You indeed can learn this technique in Thunder Magic."
The world’s Taoist arts divide into the Five Elements, and beyond those are Yin and Yang, the Three Talents, and the Four Symbols. However, the mightiest is the Divine Sky Taoist Magic!
Thunder represents the most rigid and positive forces in the world, should any person of demonic nature wield the thunder of the Heavenly Dao, they are likely to fall victim to their own summoned lightning before striking another. Therefore, one must commit no evil deeds to study the Divine Sky Taoist Arts, as malicious thoughts could result in divine retribution by thunder. Chi Songzi had been worried that Wuzhiqi would commit evil and suffer from the divine thunder’s backlash, which is why he did not pass on the art of thunder conjuring within ’Divine Sky Torrential Rain’ but only taught other techniques.
Enlightenment Dao took out the Hundred Herbs Cauldron and the Ochre Whip, "Senior, do you wish to repossess these two Magical Treasures?"
Chi Songzi shook his head, "No need, no need! Shennong’s treasures naturally have their own destiny. Since they have come into your possession, they are now yours. Besides, these belong to Shennong, not me. How could I take them?"
Enlightenment Dao thought inwardly, "Senior Chi Songzi is truly a man of high principle and moral integrity, able to relinquish such treasures without regret! Truly exceptional!"
"Hmm?!" Chi Songzi slightly furrowed his brows, "Why is the human fate qi gone from this Hundred Herbs Cauldron and Ochre Whip?"
Enlightenment Dao shook his head, "I do not know. They were like this when I acquired them, and before that, they were in the hands of the Flying Liann."
Chi Songzi couldn’t help but ponder for a moment and said, "Flying Liann? Is he Chi You’s military counselor? If he were to obtain these fortunes of the Human Path, it would indeed be troublesome. If you encounter Flying Liann while outside, send a message to me, and I will arrive immediately to strike and kill him!"
Enlightenment Dao was eager to have this high personage eliminate some enemies for him and immediately agreed, asking, "How do I notify Senior?"
Chi Songzi then gave him three incense sticks and said, "Just light these incense sticks, and I will naturally sense it. With my divine skills, arriving here by controlling the wind will take but a moment."
Enlightenment Dao accepted the three incense sticks and was secretly overjoyed. This Feng Bo Fei Lian was not an easy opponent, and having Chi Songzi handle him would be almost certain of success! Who knew what scheme was brewing with Flying Liann stealing the fortunes from the Hundred Herbs Cauldron and the Ochre Whip?
Enlightenment Dao bowed and said, "Senior, Mount Shu is a reputable orthodox sect. Because of Flying Liann’s slanderous words, it has been besieged by Demon Path sects. I implore Senior to drive these people of the Demon Path out of Mount Shu, to prevent this ancient sect from being destroyed in one fell swoop."
Upon hearing this, Chi Songzi stroked his beard and nodded slightly, saying, "What you said is correct. They must be driven off to prevent the ruin of Mount Shu. I have some connection with Song Lun, and since he has already experienced this calamity, I should also help and take care of his descendants and disciples."
Only then did Enlightenment Dao feel relieved. With Chi Songzi agreeing to this, the crisis of Mount Shu would be resolved. It seemed that the slim chance of survival had indeed been "intercepted" by Enlightenment Dao, befitting a disciple of the Sect of Interception. Sect of Interception indeed, intercepting that very chance of survival.
"There must be no delay, lest more disciples of Mount Shu fall victim to those Demon Path villains. Senior, please act sooner to drive them away. As for learning the Thunder Summoning Divine Skill from ’Divine Sky Taoist Magic,’ it won’t be too late to learn it later," said Enlightenment Dao respectfully to Chi Songzi.
This individual deserved his deep respect, for he was an ancient power and the teacher of Shennong—reverence was undoubtedly due.
Such beings could be considered contemporaries of the Three Pure Ones, having existed since the dawn of heaven and earth.
Chi Songzi felt this person was not bad, closed his eyes briefly, and with a loud shout, announced, "Shennong’s Secret Realm will soon close. Those cultivators inside, quickly leave. You have half an hour. If anyone refuses to exit within half an hour, this poor Daoist will be forced to take lethal action!"
This shout, like muffled thunder, rolled on mightily, reaching every corner of Shennong’s Secret Realm, heard clearly by everyone within.
The previously fighting Demon Path individuals paused, put down their magical treasures—having gained quite a few benefits already, each quickly turned and headed straight for the exit of the Secret Realm.
With one roar, Chi Songzi had displayed such formidable strength that it sent shivers down spines. The voice was deep but like rolling thunder, as if the Buddha Ancestor himself was enraged, unleashing the Lion’s Roar.
Being of Quasi-Saint cultivation, Chi Songzi’s shout also brought forth the pressure of a Quasi-Saint. Some of those present were frightened to the point their Primordial Spirits nearly fled their bodies, and for others, their Three Flowers and Five Qi were almost extinguished. Who would dare linger in the Secret Realm any longer? In no time, countless figures scattered, all heading for the exit.
Chi Songzi smiled and said, "Let’s go, let’s leave this Secret Realm and drive them away, then I will pass on the Taoist arts to you."
Enlightenment Dao nodded and replied, "Good, thank you for your trouble, Senior."
Chi Songzi said, "It’s but a trifling matter, not worth mentioning."
Chi Songzi led Enlightenment Dao out of the Secret Realm, where the Demon Path forces were again locked in battle with the disciples of Mount Shu.
Chi Songzi snorted coldly and declared, "You deviants of the crooked paths, invading Mount Shu and refusing to retreat even after gaining advantages—do you desire to commit atrocities? Beware lest this poor Daoist shows no mercy with his strikes!"
Upon hearing this, the crowd again startled and retreated quickly.
Poxun and others saw Chi Songzi and Enlightenment Dao leave the Secret Realm together and knew the tide had turned against them, thus they could only withdraw, heading back to their own places.
Poxun brought Vishnu back into the Netherworld Blood Sea, the Blood Demon Ancestor and the Green-Robed Ancestor led the Demon Path forces back to Uttara Kuru Kingdom, and Flying Liann had long since vanished without a trace.
The disciples of Mount Shu, witnessing the Demon Path individuals being driven away, could not help but shout for joy, leaping in exhilaration—the crisis of Mount Shu was finally resolved.
Enlightenment Dao let out a long sigh of relief and, leading the disciples of Mount Shu, bowed to Chi Songzi, saying, "Thank you, Senior Chi Songzi!"
Chi Songzi merely gave a slight nod and spoke a few courteous words, telling everyone to disperse. With Mount Shu in disarray, the people of Mount Shu dared not linger and scattered, each to attend to their own matters.
