Chapter 57: Finding Cassian (2)
Inside a dark strange looking old confinement, an unconscious figure had been heavily chained to the brick walls of the room. The rails of the window were opened, permitting streaks of sunlight to seep into the room and offer it the dimmest of lights that only focused on the young lad who was severely trapped.
The unconscious lad had his shirt ripped, as though someone had scraped his shirt off with a claw. Visible injury signs could be seen running from his naked abdomen up to his chest, the blood had dried against his glowing skin that was presently sweating, and he had bite marks that painfully displayed on his skin.
A few minutes passed by quietly and the figure remained unmoving. Suddenly, a low painful groan escaped his lips when the wound that had been inflicted on his abdomen began to tear at his flesh, it felt like his insides were being twisted and feasted on by who knows what! And the pain was on a completely new level.
Cassian’s thick long lashes quivered impulsively, and he forced his eyelids to flutter open when he could no longer keep them close. They drooped slightly when he felt tempted to close them back, but for some reason, he didn’t want to fall unconscious anymore.
"Where.....am I?"
Letting his blurry gaze scan the unfamiliar room he was in, Cassian couldn’t identify where he was. He could barely see anything, but with good focus, he was able to make out the outlines of the wall, and an alarming feeling sank in his chest when nothing felt right.
Apart from that, it was really cold in here, so cold he could feel it biting through his flesh, yet he was sweating???!!
He tried to move forward, but instantly got restricted when he felt something heavy pull him back, followed by the loud clanging sounds of chains that carried weight.
"What tha_" Returning his eyes to see what had held him back, he realized both his hands and legs were being chained to the wall, and he couldn’t move more than three feet.
"The fuck!!" No longer feeling unconscious and with his eyes wide awake, Cassian tried to force his wrist free from the chains. He tugged harshly at the chains that continued to clang behind him, but unfortunately his current strength was too weak for him to even move a muscle.
"How did I end up like this??" Cassian’s mindset was a blur, and his memories of what happened remained vague in his mind.
"About time you woke up."
Snapping his head to the direction of the voice, the man in a dark-colored cloak was sitting patiently on a chair in front of him. From the way he spoke, it felt like he’s been waiting for a long time for the young lad to regain consciousness.
He lit up the lantern he held, brightening the room a bit and giving the confused lad a chance to have a look at where he was being brought. He knew the human wouldn’t be able to guess this place, neither did it matter if he did.
"You must be cold."
"Get me the hell out of these things!" Cassian’s jaw clenched when he locked his angry gaze at the man who was sitting on the chair, legs crossed. He angrily pulled at the chains that made a loud clanging sound with each action he took to free himself from it.
At the sight of the cloaked being, memories of the event that took place from last night instantly flooded his head. He remembered being clawed to the chest by that same person who was sitting in front of him, and before he passed out that deranged fool had bit him with those sharp teeths he possessed.
Everything that happened at Geoffrey’s place came running into his head, and he felt like breaking free from these chains and pouncing on the cloaked being for trapping him here and giving him those burning bites. He could still feel those burning sensation leading straight to his chest, but he didn’t mind it since all he cared about was breaking free from these chains.
"You sick freak!" He cursed.
"Call me Elijah." Asserted the cloaked being who wasn’t fond of the names the human kept throwing at him. He wasn’t here to receive stupid insults from a completely weak human. He lacked strength presently, yet still has the audacity to challenge him.
Interesting and annoyingly commendable for a human.....
"Are you responsible for kidnapping all those people?" Cassian wanted answers, his Amber-brown eyes glowing with intense fury as he tried not to move since the chains were starting to weaken his arms.
The cloaked being named Elijah, casually rose from his seat and took a few steps towards Cassian who looked ready to tear him into pieces. If looks could kill, Elijah didn’t think he’d still be standing here looking alive right now.
"Do you know what I say when I feel like cursing, fudge." He asserted since he wasn’t a fan of hearing such rubbish words. Humans really utter the stupidest things when they’re angry.
"If you fudging touch me, I’m gonna fudging kill you." Came Cassian’s low threat, and the vampire smirked with interest when he felt the deadly aura emanating from him. It was one he barely felt from rest humans, and that was all he needed to know the young lad wasn’t fully human.
Isn’t that why he spared his life till now?
"I knew you would be a handful." He tsked. "But I don’t fight humans." He grinned, showing off his sharp White fangs that once again caught Cassian’s attention.
"What are you?? Some sort of parasite?"
"We’re vampires." The cloaked being corrected, feeling quite offended that a human would address him as a parasite when he is the parasitic one here.
"Those things real?" Cassian blinked, further getting on the vampire’s nerves who was restraining himself from choking the human to death.
"My presence should be enough to answer your silly question." He suddenly dismissed it. "That is no longer important for now, what is important is what I plan on doing to you?"
"You freak! You literally bit me!!" The thought of it already enraged him to the core and he tugged harshly at the chains that held him in place. He was weak, but Elijah wasn’t dumb to witness how relentless the human was on giving up.
"You’re quite frightening, for a human." Remarked Elijah who suddenly snapped his fingers.
Just in time, another vampire stepped forward from the shadows to stand beside Elijah. The vampire handed him a colorless paste he had kept in a small plastic container before disappearing into the darkness behind him.
"Ever heard of poison?" Elijah smirked deviously while taking hold of a paste in his fingertip. The only thing Cassian couldn’t see was his eyes that were hidden underneath the darkness of the cloak.
"This is more like a poison." Elijah continued while examining the paste he had smeared on his fingertips. "They say if you swallow it, it can weaken the cell and affect your system in the slowest and painful ways a human could possibly imagine."
He moved towards Cassian with the unknown paste, his aura darkening with each second that didn’t hesitate to ring an alarming bell in Cassian’s head.
"Fortunately for you, you don’t need to have this in your system."
The air went tyrannically still, and to Cassian’s unexpected gaze, the strange man suddenly rubbed the paste in his eyes.
"What are you doing?!" Cassian tried to look down to avoid letting the paste get into his eyes, but two vampires suddenly showed up behind him and held his head up so the strange man could rub the paste properly into his eyes.
"Stop!" When Elijah finally stopped at Cassian’s angry command, one of the vampire’s quickly blindfolded Cassian’s eyes, and the young lad could do nothing to stop it since he was ruthlessly restricted by the chains, and finally they left him alone after blindfolding him up and leaving him in the dark.
"What did you do?!" Cassian’s tone grew dark and heavy. He knew the man named Elijah didn’t rub the paste in his eyes for nothing.
"I want you to become blind." Elijah smirked. "I’m running a little test you see, so far a lot of them have failed to pass this test because the end result was always death, but you look really promising which is why I’m sparing your life for this."
"What do you mean to become blind??" That was the only thing that Cassian could capture as his face turned pale, and he heard the vampire chuckle.
"Don’t worry, you will see again, if you eventually pass the test and become one of the vampires."
"What?!"
"Sleep tight."
Before Cassian knew how to react to the information he just got, he was knocked out after one of the vampires had placed a handkerchief to his nostril, forcing him to inhale what was extracted into it, and he immediately blacked out.
"Do you think he’ll become one of us?" Asked one of the vampires in a red cloak, but Elijah’s expression turned cold at the question.
"He must be one of us." He snapped a finger. "To welcome him to our world, how about we give him the perfect ritual?"
"Master?"
"Find him a coffin, and bury him." After giving the orders, Elijah walked out of the room with a deadpan expression.
The two vampires followed behind him, and the door shut after they had left.
Seconds ticked by and Cassian’s voice turned into a drowsy whisper. "Lily."
At the call of her name, Lily quietly stepped in from the closed door. Her eyes were fixed on Cassian who struggled to give his command.
"Find Madeline." And he passed out after that, not sure if the little ghost had heard him or not.
