Talent System: I Instantly Master My Opponents Skills -
Chapter 98: Synchronization
Chapter 98: Synchronization
Jason walked towards the fallen girl, once reaching her, he crouched next to the girl and checked her hands.
’It’s not on her fingers.’ Jason thought.
"Where is my space ring?" Jason questioned.
There was no answer, that was when Jason noticed that she couldn’t talk.
’I’ll have to heal her if I want an answer.’
He raised her hand, slipping the space ring out of her finger before placing it on his own. He put a bit of pressure on the ring.
A healing potion appeared in his grasp.
’I hope she hasn’t drank some healing potions before.’
Taking too many healing potions at once could have adverse effects if there was not enough time taken between each time a person took a healing potion. At the very most, one could take six healing potions in two hours.
He opened the bottle and downed the contents into her mouth, forcing it down her throat.
She was still conscious, though barely, and was able to swallow it all.
There were no noticeable changes on her body, but Jason could see that the healing potion was beginning to have its effect.
Color began to return to her cheeks.
Jason watched impatiently, his only concern was when she would be able to talk.
"Why... why did you hold back?" Alexia croaked, her voice was a whisper.
"I don’t understand."
"Why did you hold back?" She repeated.
"Just give me my space ring so we can go our separate ways." Jason sighed, not wanting to answer her question.
A split-second before his fist hit her, he stopped it, his momentum pushed his fist into her abdomen.
But he doubted if she wanted to hear that.
’If I’m being honest, I don’t want to add another body to my track record.’ If he killed her, she would be the sixth or seventh victim.
’So near-perfect memory isn’t enough in this situation?’ For some reason, he couldn’t clearly remember how many people he had killed up to this point.
The truth hurt, and he doubted that if he told her the truth if she would stay calm. Jason did not want any rivalries.
"You weren’t strong enough for me to use my full power."
But the truth was necessary.
Alexia did not say anything, her features hardening into something.
"Where did you keep my space ring?" Jason asked.
"Its in my space ring." Alexia answered.
Jason paused, his mind going back to his time in the evaluation hall. That elder had done the same thing, storing space rings inside his own space ring.
’Why didn’t I think of that?’ He questioned himself as he willed for his space ring.
He placed her ring back on her finger before helping her get up, from there he turned his back and walked away.
Jason returned to his corner, setting down in it.
He was glad that Alexia didn’t call him before and declare that they were going to be rivals, though that would be impossible based on her attitude and her countenance.
’Now, where was I?’ Jason wondered, thinking of how to pick up on his thoughts.
[Notice]
His thoughts were interrupted by the weird notification he got from the system.
’Notice?’ Jason questioned, hoping for an answer.
[Attention]
’Attention? Notice? Don’t they mean the same thing.’
[Attention: Two talents with 80% compatibility have been detected]
’80% compatibility?’ He had no idea on how those words were related to the system.
But the system, as if sensing his confusion answered the question.
[Compatibility occurs when talents with similar traits appear]
’It gave me an answer!’ He was surprised but chose not to dwell on it.
He quickly ran through all his talents. ’Flash steps and Spirit steps.’
[Would host like to synchronize? Y/N]
’Synchronize?’ He thought.
But the system didn’t give him an answer.
To figure it out, he would have to think about it.
Normally, synchronization was a state where teammates could move in sync, where both understood each other’s next move, like they were one person, yet moving two separate bodies.
That was in fights.
’It can’t be that.’ Jason mused.
’Whatever, I’ll just go with yes.’
He extended his hand forward to touch the option in front of him, but it passed through seamlessly.
’Right, this is the first time I’ve been given a prompt like this.’ Jason realized..
He tried to use his mind to click yes.
The notification disappeared, going as if it were never there in the first place
"Did it work?" He asked himself, unsure of whether the method of using his mind to click yes.
’It should have worked, I have a good mental stat.’
Suddenly, a screen appeared before his eyes.
[Name: Jason Hachiman
Age: 14
Physical – Early Stage 5
Mental – Mid Stage 3
Mana - Stage 000 Early
Skills: Advanced War Tactics, Advanced Cooking, Null eyes, Quick Evasive Steps, Delayed Fist, Terrible Cloning, War God’s Embrace, Blade Strike]
"I’m 14!" His voice was low but it still held his surprise.
That was when it suddenly came to him.
’I haven’t checked my stats in a while, I didn’t even know my birthday had passed. But I don’t even know my birthday.’
When Jason was born, due to his non-existent aptitude for magic he was made to live alone, only accompanied by a color-blind tutor and occasional maids.
He had only seen his mother once in his entire life.
And he had seen his father twice; on the day of his birth, and the day when the old man had called him to discuss about how he got the Null eyes.
He was never told the day of his birth, and he didn’t even know the name of the days and months of the calendar because they were not in his curriculum for studying.
Jason was practically abandoned by his parents in this life, but he had parents in his former life.
’Quick Evasive Steps.’ He thought. ’I didn’t see flash steps and spirit steps on my status screen.’
It didn’t take him long to realize plus 1 with 1, and that was what the system did, adding 1 to 1 gave 2.
Adding spirit steps to flash steps gave quick evasive steps.
’I guess that’s what synchronization is.’
’Thankfully, I had gone for yes.’
’But still, its kind of hard to guess that synchronization is actually a good thing since it should normally have nothing to do with talents.’
The system notifications had gone and he was left to his own devices, the silence of the hall where everyone of them had fought, and the silence of his own thoughts.
Somehow, his thoughts wandered to the system. It’s most used words came to him.
’Host is lacking.’
Now, that made him annoyed.
He thought back to Ezra who would kill the only other person who could use nature energy in the near future.
’If I can save the pope, I’ll get him to teach me how to use nature energy to create the elements of nature.’
Fire, water, wind, earth.
The pope could use them all.
Jason wasn’t sure if it was just because the man also had mana and was able to combine it with nature energy, or if the man really understood nature energy well enough to create those five elements with it.
The racist author never explained that bit.
’But even then, nature energy wasn’t enough to save the pope from Ezra’s demon awakening form.’
Ezra was the vessel of the fragment of the Monster lord.
’Calling it fragment seems stupid though since it has forty percent of the powers of the Monster lord.’
As Ezra was about to get killed by the pope and used for the sacrifice instead, that was when the Monster lord decided to give his vessel some of his power.
’Its scary how 5% was able to straight-up murder the pope.’ Jason was a bit wary of the Monster lord’s power.
’If I ever have to fight Ezra in his demon awakening form, I’ll have to use everything at my disposal.’
’Including War God’s Embrace.’
’But it won’t have to come to that.’
Jason had made sure to befriend the protagonist.
And before he and Ezra would meet again, he would grow stronger.
After leaving this place, he was planning to go to the Adaptive Dungeon. To even be allowed near there he would have to meet someone who hated him to the bones because of his appearance or anything he had done to the person, or the clan guardian allowed him.
The first one was almost impossible, because only the clan head would be allowed to make a decision regarding him.
The second one was more plausible since the clan guardian was a whimsical being, she wouldn’t care much if she sent him on a mission of no return, because that was what his request would sound like.
Jason rest his head on the wall, exhaling and staring at the ceiling. He was beginning to hear some people talking but ultimately ignored it.
But after awhile, it got too loud to ignore.
