Talent System: I Instantly Master My Opponents Skills
Chapter 96: A "Friendly" Conversation

Chapter 96: A "Friendly" Conversation

"With the end of the joint-clan tournament won by the Hachiman clan and the side tournament, it is time to move on to the main agenda of this gathering." Smith Payster informed the elders.

They were surrounded in a blinding light, then in a flash, all six of them were transported to another location.

Morrigan had been taken by the Hades clan elder while the Wukong clan elder had taken Ezra for treatment.

All that remained now were the five people, three being heirs.

At a corner, Kairo sat on the hard ground, covering his head with his hands as he rocked uncontrollably. The Amaterasu clan heir muttered incomprehensible things.

"Why did I even fight her? I should have given up as soon as the fight started!" Kairo murmured.

Jason was starting to get irritated by Kairo’s words, though they were a good distance apart, there were only five people in this large, spacious room, and all were quiet except one. The noises that one generated could be heard by all the people present.

Kairo’s words were disturbing his musings, he couldn’t think peacefully while he heard the voice of someone who sounded like he had just seen hell, at least he could make the person shut up.

When he was about to do so, he saw Alexia walking towards him, she had the same segment as him.

"Omikami Kairo."

Hearing his name, Kairo raised his head. "What do you want?" His voice was surprisingly cold, a polar opposite to how pathetic he sounded a moment ago.

Kairo had fresh tears rolling down his eyes, and when he looked at her, Alexia was able to notice the small puddle that had formed from his tears.

"You’re pathetic." Alexia said before turning away, her back turned as she walked away. "A heir crying over his loss isn’t funny, its just sad."

She had delivered the message that she wanted to pass on: A heir of one of the five powerful clans crying over a loss was humiliating, not only to him but his entire clan at large.

Alexia, had of course, hadn’t seen what Kairo had seen, neither did she experience the fear he had felt, or felt the raw killing intent directed at him, or had her fighting spirit broken over and over again.

Kairo sat there, momentarily stunned as his brain processed the words it had just heard. Then, his words were as silent as whisper as he responded.

"What do you know about what I felt?" Kairo questioned, his voice low but turbulent like the wind.

’Is this Kairo?’ Jason asked himself, unsure of how to feel at how Kairo had just acted just now.

Omikami Kairo of the Amaterasu clan was a knucklehead, a proud and arrogant playboy whom would rather come to fists first at a misunderstanding instead of trying to resort it.

If Kairo was feeling more like himself, he would have retorted loudly. Loud enough for everyone to hear.

But Jason hadn’t even heard the words he said, they were like a silent whisper.

That was a testament to a change in Kairo, even if it was just a change as small as lowering his voice.

Alexia stopped walking after hearing Kairo’s words.

"What did you say?" She questioned, stopping in her tracks and turning back to Kairo.

"I asked you if you knew anything about what I felt." Kairo repeated, his voice still low.

"You felt defeat and you sulk about it."

"No..." Kairo paused, unsure if he wanted to continue.

"No what?"

While it seemed like Alexia was keeping her cold demeanor, it was noticeable that some annoyance had started to creep in.

"I’m asking if you know how Sixth Sense: Fear feels like." Kairo repeated.

"Defeat." At this point, Kairo was unsure if Alexia was just mocking him or genuinely answering.

"No..." Kairo let out a deep breath as more tears began dropping from his eyes. His voice began considerably louder. "It feels like getting your will to fight broken again and again, and each time I’m eerily close to death. One time I felt that death was just a single step away as I was forced to look into her eyes, it seemed to be a simple step away, but I persisted.

Fear crept up to my heart and my fire lit out, unable to do anything meaningful before it was put out."

"You don’t have any reason to tell me I’m pathetic." Kairo fairly stated, though it would be hard to take him considerably due to the tears falling onto the ground from his cheeks.

To his speech, Alexia replied with one simple word. "Pathetic."

Kairo said nothing in response, her words barely affecting him.

"Go away."

Alexia’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"Or else?" Alexia inquired.

"Or else, I’ll beat fear into you." He answered.

"I’d like to see you try." Alexia replied, a cold grin growing on her face as she mocked him. "But don’t cry when I beat you."

Kairo responded by getting up from his position on the ground.

Both space rings glowed in dim-blue lights, and weapons appeared in the wearer’s hands.

A dagger and a sword.

Both were about to clash.

"Wait."

Both heads turned simultaneously to the speaker.

Wearing a blue jacket with blue trousers and deep blue mystifying eyes.

It was Jason.

"You shouldn’t fight when the tournament is over, if you have something to prove find somewhere else to do it, both of you are disturbing my concentration."

Alexia’s eyes narrowed, her earlier grin returned. Kairo on the other hand, stared at Jason before returning to his original position, his sword going back to his ring.

"You’re the talentless participant who couldn’t even beat weaklings without using a treasure." Alexia said, regarding him with slight interest.

’The talentless one awakened the talent system.’ This was not the first time Jason had been called talentless, even during the early phases where he had the system, the system had called him lacking and talentless.

"What treasure?" Jason asked.

"You’re acting dumb. The treasure you used to increase your speed and strength."

’So they convinced themselves that the only way I could move like that was with the help of a treasure.’ Jason thought, somehow he wasn’t surprised.

The only treasure he had gotten his hands on was his velcro, and even then that treasure had already reached the peak of its use.

"I wasn’t given any treasure." Jason admitted honestly.

But.

He could tell by their looks that they thought he was lying, something he was obviously not, but it made sense.

They could deduce easily by his skin color that he had no aptitude for magic, neither did mana strengthen him passively when he grew up.

For a person who saw Jason move at such incredible speeds and use such destructive power, and knowing about his affiliation to the Hachiman clan, their first answer to how he could move so fast was that he was using an ancient treasure that would be able to gift him with such proportions of speed.

"I’m not joking, neither am I lying." Jason asserted, but even then they still didn’t believe him.

Only Hereon and Zane knew that Jason had never been given any preferential treatment in the clan; one side knowing that Jason had gotten into trouble and was hated by the wife of the clan head of the Hachiman clan, and the other side knowing that they had even ordered for Jason to be killed in case he abused the six eyes on monsters so he could kill them strategically.

"Prove it."

"How? Do you want me to get naked to search my clothes?" Jason was clearly not amused.

"Prove it by beating me in a fight and handing over your space ring for the duration of our duel." Alexia stated.

"There’s no point in fighting, and as I said, if you wanted to fight anyone you should have done so in the tournament."

"Pathetic, just admit that you’re ashamed now that you realized that we knew you were using a treasure after all."

Jason groaned in annoyance, Alexia was starting to get annoying.

He could have rejected it, but there was something about being underestimated just because he had no mana that didn’t sit well with him.

"Fine." Jason finally conceded.

’At least it went well, somewhat.’ Jason thought, preparing for the fight that he was going to make quick. ’If I get the chance, I’ll copy flash steps to add to my step talents.’

Jason cracked his knuckles, fully aware of what was going to happen.

Kairo watched the two of them, moving backwards to steer clear from the two people; one which he had tried to bully and now when thinking back at it, was a poor choice, and another annoying girl whom was the Raijin clan elder.

When he got back to the main clan residential area, he would have to rethink his life choices.

Jason, on the other hand, tossed his space ring to Alexia before moved backwards, finding a suitable distance away from Alexia.

’If I copy flash steps from Alexia, I’ll be closer to paying my debt to the system back.’

Jason got into a stance, it was the same stance he had used when fighting Zane for the first time.

It wasn’t much, but it was enough.
