Chapter 93: Sixth Sense: Fear (4)

Ezra took in a deep breath, he felt the adrenaline in him surging through his veins as he readied himself.

The element of surprise he had when Morrigan was torturing him was gone, and now he could tell that she wouldn’t leave herself that open again. He charged forward, his golden eyes focused, he was determined to win this.

Ezra felt a rush of energy as he infused mana to enhance his physical abilities, his speed increasing slightly.

Upon getting with range, he began with a series of rapid punches, each one aimed to create an opening in which he could exploit.

Morrigan easily avoided each of his blows, only few getting past her defenses.

Suddenly she went for a swift kick at Ezra’s midsection, her leg launching to his side. But Ezra blocked it, using his arms to block what could be classified under serious damage if it hit him.

Ezra suddenly grinned, countering with a quick punch to her abdomen, even though it was quick he had poured enough mana into that fist to make sure it did some damage.

Morrigan was sent skidding backwards from the force of the blow, but she quickly managed to stop.

Her sharp cold eyes bore into Ezra, observing him closely.

Unlike Kairo, Ezra came from a clan where martial arts were taught and valued. Ezra was obviously able to keep up with her because of this.

Instead of charging towards her, Ezra watched her curiously, observing her movements. Neither of them moved, they watched each other for sometime.

Until finally, Ezra moved.

He surged towards her, getting into striking distance quickly before going for a flurry of blows. Morrigan dodged each of them deftly, her movements graceful.

’Finally.’ Ezra thought, seeing something he had noticed.

He had given her a clear opening to hit him.

Morrigan ducked under his fist, her hand shooting out like a striking serpent and catching Ezra’s wrist.

Her grip was incredibly firm yet precise, going for where she had aimed before he could pull it back.

Ezra tried to pull his arm back, but her grip was too strong.

"Fifth Sense: Pain."

In an instant, her other palm shot forward hitting his elbow precisely. The sound of something cracking was heard.

But that wasn’t the worst part, before the pain in Ezra’s arm could register, Morrigan let go of his arm. She formed her palm into a fist, spun at 3600 and delivered a spinning backfist that connected solidly with Ezra’s cheek. The attack she had done to his arm had its power multiplied by Fifth Sense: Pain.

Ezra was sent sprawling onto the ground, blood smearing the ground where he had once stood.

He coughed up blood, but his mind was still on the fight. He was determined to win.

’If only I had more strength.’ Ezra thought dryly, trying to stagger onto his feet, but that was when it hit him.

He felt a feeling spread out in his right arm, the one that Morrigan had hit. The sensation spread out through his arm, enveloping it completely.

It was pain. And it hurt, badly.

Ezra winced immediately.

’Come on, get up!’ The voice in his head roared, clearly displeased.

"I’m trying." Ezra muttered, but he felt battered.

’What trying? This isn’t trying! Don’t ever tell me you’re trying in a fight you aren’t winning.’

"Well, what do you want me to do?" Ezra questioned, staggering to his feet.

Only to fall back down.

The only reason the fight wasn’t over was because he hadn’t admitted defeat or knocked unconscious, if he laid on the ground for too long, he would lose.

’You’ve got mana in you, yet, you’re such a disgrace. You’re pathetic, I would rather have that dark-skin as my vessel.’

Ezra turned his head to Jason’s direction.

"Wasn’t he using some sort of treasure to move like that? And he doesn’t have any mana, why would you want him?" Ezra asked weakly.

’He had no treasure on him, it was obvious your untrained eyes were too slow to see him clearly.’ The voice in his head was surprisingly calm, and it sounded sage-like.

Ezra’s eyes widened in surprise.

"The power he used, was his own?"

’That human was trying... Trying to hold back. That was the kind of power that I expected from my vessel, but unfortunately, it seems like I chose the wrong one.’

Ezra felt something burning inside him at those words, but it wasn’t jealously. He didn’t know what it was.

He struggled more, aiming to rise back to his feet despite the disturbing, painful sensation in his arm.

Finally, he staggered onto his feet, but his movements were sluggish.

His body was a battlefield of pain, his right arm pulsed like a living wound, his legs felt like they would collapse under his weight, the only thing stopping it from giving up was his determination. His breathing was ragged, his sweat dripping onto the ground.

At this moment, he regretted not bringing his staff with him. It would have at least helped him balance himself.

He focused his mana, preparing to use Terrible Cloning to surprise Morrigan, but then, he remembered his limit.

Three clones a day.

Anymore and his body wouldn’t be able to handle it.

He was hoping to use the last clone for Zane in the final round, as an element of surprise. But his opponent right now was Morrigan, and if he didn’t win against her, he doubted if he would be given the opportunity to fight Zane.

’If I don’t win, I won’t get the chance to fight again.’ Ezra thought, before staggering forward.

Morrigan had backed away from him, watching him with her usual cold expression as he moved towards her.

Ezra just needed to get in range so he could use terrible cloning to create a clone a good distance behind her, a distance where she wouldn’t notice it until it was too late, when she had been hit.

But his movements were pathetic, and at a point, it seemed like it was just a dead body throwing its body forward in an attempt to move.

’Finally.’ Ezra thought in relief, he noticed Morrigan watching him, she wasn’t looking away.

[Terrible Cloning]

An exact body double of Ezra appeared behind Morrigan.

Then, he began to move forward, exerting more effort to increase his speed while moving so Morrigan would keep her attention on him. He hoped she wouldn’t notice the clone that silently approached.

As it got into striking range, the clone attacked. It attempted a spinning back-heel kick, aiming for Morrigan’s head.

But surprisingly, she raised her arm up to block it.

The kick couldn’t connect.

Morrigan shoved her arm sideways, causing the clone to lose its balance, before turning and delivering a precise palm at its solar plexus.

The clone immediately dispersed.

At that moment, the hope in Ezra’s heart died.

But then, he began charging towards Morrigan like a madman.

He ignored all the pain he felt, he ignored how tired his legs were and how it seemed like he would fall unconscious at every minute.

As he got within range, he leapt into the air, attack with a spinning backheel.

But unfortunately for him, Morrigan had heard his footsteps, meaning that she knew he was going to attack.

She ducked, bending her head slightly to avoid a kick that would be aimed at her head.

But that kick never came, instead what came was the back of a foot driving into her side.

Ezra had packed as much mana as he could into that attack, and it did its magic, sending Morrigan sprawling to the ground.

He felt a wave of relief wash over him, even though his plan did not actually work, it had still helped to lead to this situation.

But as soon as he hit the ground, he fell onto the ground, everything he had ignored catching up to him and coming back to bite him. His feet were numb and his arm was even worse, considering how it was swung around when he spun.

’Come on, get up!’ Ezra shouted at his body, but to no avail, nothing he did worked.

He gritted his teeth in frustration, when he could have pressed on to prevail against her, his body gave out.

"Give up." A cold voice demanded.

Morrigan wasn’t taken down for the count when she was hit.

"No." He said defiantly.

"Fifth Sense: Pain." Morrigan murmured, at that moment she drove her feet into one of his limbs.

Ezra screamed in pain, but Morrigan did not let up.

"Give up."

"No!"

"Fifth Sense: Pain." Morrigan drove her feet into his other limb, rendering it in the same condition as the other.

"Give up."

"No!!"

"Fifth Sense: Pain."

Morrigan drove her feet into his left arm, rendering it in the same pitiful state as the rest.

Now, Ezra was unable to move all of his limbs.

"Give up."

"No!!!" Ezra was still defiant.

Morrigan didn’t say anything, knowing fully well that she had run out of options. If she hit him with the same technique once more, even a high rank healing potion wouldn’t be able to help him.

In the face of such a defiant opponent, the only thing that would work...

Was fear.

"Sixth Sense: Pain."
