Chapter 92: Sixth Sense: Fear (3)

...

"Elder Lance." Smith Payster said suddenly.

The elder from the Hades clan, Lance Aides, turned to him.

"Could you explain what just happened? From here, it looks like your clan heir induced her mana into him. I was unable to catch what had happened." Smith Payster inquired, but his tone wasn’t friendly.

It contained his displeasure, what Morrigan had just used was clearly one of her clan’s technique, but Him wasn’t informed of it. And as the loyal lap dog he was, he was displeasure at the Hades’ clan keeping secrets from his master.

"Its one of our clan’s secret techniques." Elder Lance of the Hades clan replied. "We have already informed Him of it and given him a detailed explanation on it."

Payster’s eyes narrowed. "What is the name of the technique?"

Smith Payster was surprisingly demanding even though he was the weakest of everyone here, excluding the young awakeneds.

"Sixth Sense: Fear." Elder Lance answered.

Payster’s eyes narrowed even further, he was obviously thinking of the Hades’ clan’s deception.

"May I ask on what it does?" Smith Payster asked. "To align it with what we were given."

"Of course." The elder of the Hades clan offered a smile. "To activate Sixth Sense: Fear, the user needs to bring the victim to a state of an unfocused mind. It is activated by physical contact and once activated, the victim’s mind falls into a state where they die continuously.

At every death, the user breaks the victim’s mind repeatedly, with every death fear is implanted into the victim until true fear is planted in their heart."

Elder Lance finished his explanation, keeping his smile as he watched Payster’s expression.

The suspicion in Payster’s eyes diminished, this thin lips curling into a tight, disapproving line as he stared at Elder Lance.

"Allowing Morrigan Aides to use such a technique on the heir of the Amaterasu clan... Does your clan take full responsibility for what happens to the Amaterasu clan her?"

But Elder Lance still had that smile. "Not to worry, Morrigan was forbidden by the clan head from using the full capabilities of that secret technique during her stay here. If she had used the full power of that technique, Omikami Kairo would have run mad after a single death.

Rest assured that the heir of the Amaterasu clan didn’t die a single time while under the effects of it. For confirmation, you can even ask him." He assured both the Amaterasu clan and Payster, while keeping his smile.

Now, Elder Lance’s smile was unnerving. "The technique is potent, yes, but much like the Raijin clan can limit the effect of their clan secret technique, our clan can limit the effect of our secret techniques." He explained.

Just then, Morrigan walked past them, she had overheard the entire conversation. The elders hadn’t even bothered to hide it, even from the distance she noticed Jason still listening in on it.

She returned to her familiar spot.

’The elder didn’t tell him everything about Sixth Sense: Fear, and even the parts he told him were incomplete.’ Morrigan thought. ’He didn’t inform that man about the Mark of Fear, he also lied about the infinite deaths; after the fourth death, if fear hasn’t been implanted in the victim then the technique won’t work. The elder claimed that there was an infinite amount of deaths, he had lied.’

’Also, he didn’t say about the beginning of the technique and the part that it correlates under. Filling the victim to the brim with their fighting spirit before utterly breaking it, then filling it again and breaking it.’ Morrigan glanced towards Kairo, the boy drinking a healing potion for his jaw. ’If I wasn’t under instructions not to put the mark of fear in him, I would have. But it would not be good if the Amaterasu clan found out about it.’

’But I suppose that if I had put the mark of fear; a mark that would grant me full control over his body, and turned him into my puppet, it would be no fun.’ Morrigan grinned.

The amount of times she had smiled today exceeded the number of times she had ever smiled in her life.

’Omikami Kairo is interesting enough, turning him into a doll would ruin him.’

Morrigan had taken a likening to Kairo, that was because he was the first person to ever get past the third death when she used Sixth Sense: Fear. And she personally found his expression funny when he was in disbelief.

...

Ezra stared at Morrigan, his opponent for the next fight.

He was originally supposed to fight Zane, even being seeded to fight against the boy. But for some reason, Morrigan had been called abruptly to fight again.

Payster, in his vindictive manner, had decided to throw a wrench in the plans, demanding that Ezra fight Morrigan instead. The reason for this change was obvious: Payster was furious about the Hades clan’s. and Morrigan’s involvement in using it on Kairo. This was his way of asserting control.

He had no idea on what had transpired between the elders so he had looked to the elder of his clan for confirmation, and the old man had agreed.

So Ezra stood, his golden-blue eyes examining Morrigan as he slowly entered his stance. The girl in front of him was expressionless but cold.

’Brat, give up. You can’t win.’

There was a voice in his head, surprisingly deep, imposing and authoritative.

But Ezra wasn’t shocked, he was already used to this after hearing it for the past five years.

’Shut up, or do you want me to cancel you out like I did last time?’ Ezra retorted internally.

He didn’t hear anything for a while, that led him to assume that the voice in his head had given up on disturbing him.

’Stupid brat! I’ll kill that brat that taught you that stupid thing once I take control over your body!’ The voice in his head screamed.

It was obviously referring to Jason, it was angry that Ezra had finally found a way to ignore him.

’Shut up.’

The voice in his head kept quiet.

Ezra observed Morrigan, his opponent standing casually.

’She doesn’t even take you as a real threat, she recognizes you as mediocre. Finally, someone that sees you for who you truly are.’

"Begin!"

Upon hearing this Ezra dashed forward with a burst of wind, his body moving forward in a burst of speed.

From watching the earlier fight, he could deduce that Morrigan wouldn’t come at him, and if he charged in recklessly he would only end up in the same condition as Kairo.

[Terrible Cloning]

In that second, a perfect duplicate of him appeared. It stood still for a second before it dashed forward, using wind magic carelessly to boost its speed past Ezra.

’Your plan is terrible.’ The voice in his head commented. ’Clones can only take a single attack before dying. It looks like you’ve forgotten that crucial piece of information since your plan is to overwhelm her with your clone!’

A terrible clone could only withstand a single hit before dispersing, and they only followed the words of their creator. But even then, terrible clones were the peak of cloning techniques in the world.

’I know that, just watch and see.’ That was Ezra’s reply.

Morrigan easily dodged the attack from his clone, turning towards it, she retaliated with a heavy palm to its face.

The clone immediately dispersed once the palm connected.

’You didn’t even make it in time to join your clone!’ The voice was amused with the way things were going.

"That was the plan." Ezra muttered as he finally reached Morrigan.

His fist shot forward, aimed at Morrigan’s face. She shifted, barely moving, just enough to evade his blow.

With a sudden twist, she spun around Ezra and slammed her knee into his back, sending him crashing into the ground.

’Pathetic!’ The voice in his head roared, clearly amused.

’Shut up!’ Ezra yelled to it, forcing himself upwards.

But as soon as he got up, he was forced down again by a palm that sent him spiraling downwards.

His body hit the ground again, the heavy sting on his face and the pain in his back registering.

’You’re going to lose.’ The voice in his head told him, but this time its voice was solemn.

’Shut up!’ Ezra retorted, getting up again only to be hit down.

This time, Morrigan stood on top of him with a single foot. She grabbed his tail and yanked on it with slight power.

She wasn’t aiming to pull it off, she was aiming to make him feel pain.

Morrigan was an excellent fighter, he had learned that now.

’Listen to me dammit!’ It yelled. ’Rethink your plan for Christ sake! She isn’t that good, you just foolishly got into her area of specialty!’

Ezra didn’t discard the words of the voice in his head

[Terrible Cloning]

He felt his mana, directing it towards a spot behind Morrigan.

In that place, a clone appeared behind Morrigan.

The clone jumped into the air, performing a spin kick that landed perfectly on Morrigan’s side.

As the spinning kick connected with her side, an she felt an acute shard of pain from her torso, the force of the blow twisting her body mid-air, she let go of the tail she was holding before.

The ground beneath her feet shifted as she stumbled sideways, changing from a boy to the hard ground. But she recovered a little after.

Ezra seized the opportunity when his clone attacked, using the chance to get up.

’Thanks.’

’Save it, you won’t be thanking me when I kill you and take over your body.’ The voice responded, a hint of annoyance creeping in.

Ezra didn’t respond, he had heard it a lot of times.
