Chapter 82: Opportunity Comes (3)

(Present)...

Jason stirred awake as the light of the day shone from above.

He yawned, feeling like he could sleep for several more hours.

"Today is the day." He ran his hand through his hair. "An elder should be waiting outside for me."

Jason got up from the cold ground and went to the bathroom to freshen up.

He did his usual morning routine which took him an hour, wore some clothing, cooked some food and after he was done with all of that, stared at the door.

"No one was outside." Jason realized.

He had expected the elder to have come over since he woken up, and for that he made sure to take more than enough time to finish him morning routine, then he also went through his many new clothes to choose which one he would wear.

It took him two hours to get ready, yet there was no sign of an annoyed elder furiously banging at the door.

Jason currently wore a black shirt with a high collar blue jacket on top, coupled with dark blue trousers.

He walked to the door, his grip tightening on the doorknob as he opened it.

’So there was someone here.’ He thought, his gaze falling onto an elder that stood outside on the lawn.

The old man stood there like a statue, his figure frozen in place like a statue.

From just one look Jason could tell what the bald old man was doing.

’What in the world is he doing?’ Jason wondered, staring at the bald statue in front of him.

Suddenly, his eyes opened.

"You are quite late. I have been waiting for two hours." The elder said, his gaze resting on Jason.

"Oh." Jason mouthed.

’Then that means my efforts weren’t in vain.’

"We shall be departing immediately." The elder uttered motioning for him to come over.

Jason didn’t need any further prompting. He walked over to the elder and stood by him.

Both of their bodies glowed in a dazzling light as the treasure came into effect.

The bodies vanished from the lawn.

Jason felt discomfort in his stomach, chest and back, and the serious urge to vomit everything he had eaten.

The teleportation treasure essentially moved the body from one location to the other without traveling through the physical space between them. Side-effects would only appear when using it to move through long-distances, and the only side-effect was nausea, though with time the feeling of nausea disappeared.

However, for people who were still new to it, the feeling was horrible.

That was exactly what Jason felt.

He fell onto the knees, holding his stomach while closing his eyes. But the pain came stronger in a surge, he dropped his head onto the ground.

Something cracked.

He stayed like that for awhile, un-moving until he finally felt the wave of nausea leaving.

Jason opened his eyes as he raised his head up.

His eyes met an unfamiliar view.

He scowled.

"That’s a prison." He said in repulse.

A large bland building with a giant fence surrounding it.

Jason looked down and found that he was on the pavement, his head had cracked it.

"That’s the second thing I’ve hit with my head." Jason complained as he got up.

He looked behind him, wondering if the elder was anywhere in sight.

"He should be back." Jason muttered to himself as he examined the vicinity. "The grand elder did say something about joint-clan tournament. He should have gone to fetch Zane and Hereon, the clan can’t be dumb enough to stake all their bets on me."

The name joint-clan tournament gave it away, while before he was unsure of its meaning, now he was sure that it was just a tournament between the clans.

’Maybe I’ll get to meet the protagonist early.’ Jason mused.

The protagonist was a member of one of the five great clans.

Majority of the main cast were also from the five great clans.

’If I do meet him, I’ll make sure to give him a lesson on how not to be beta.’

"Why are you here?"

Jason was snapped out of his thoughts as he heard a voice from behind him, he was startled but quickly recovered. He recognized whom the voice belonged to.

"Greetings, patriarch." Jason answered, adopting a mock-serious tone.

"Dumbass." Zane murmured to himself, used to Jason’s antics.

"I apologize, great lord."

"Shut up."

"Please forgive me, great lord."

"Seriously, shut up." Zane shot back swinging his fist as Jason, the person in question was annoying.

"Careful." Jason’s words were laced with his amusement as he caught Zane’s fist.

He moved at an astonishing speed, moving before Zane could react.

"Or you might just end up in the same condition as the first time we fought." He added with a smile.

Zane didn’t speak nor move, his body unsure of what to do.

Jason removed his arm and walked away. "You should practice more, you’re getting better."

’Messing with kids is so fun.’ Jason thought as he looked away.

While he died a young man in his former life, he had forgotten that in this life he was only 13, while Zane was 14, a good year above him.

"By the way, where’s the elder?" He asked.

Ever since Zane arrived the old man wasn’t in sight, as soon as he dropped Zane off he left. It was in the same way that he had done Zane.

"You’re faster." Zane finally said.

"Of course." Jason turned back to the boy with blue hair. "In a near-death situation, its either you die or you become better."

"But how did you end up in the near-death situation? Wasn’t it by a mere spider?" Zane asked. "The spider was so weak and slow it couldn’t even touch me before it died! Yet, for you it put a big gaping hole in your chest!"

Jason’s happiness was short-lived.

Zane always had a good counter to whatever he had.

It was always like that.

’Why’s it taking the old man so long?’ Jason thought.

"How were you chosen to take part in the joint-clan tournament?" Zane questioned.

"I have no idea on what that is, I was just told to follow the elder, so I did." Jason admitted.

Though he had his own theory on what the event was, he was still going to see if he could get anything from Zane.

"The joint-clan tournament is an event held after each clan has held their clan trial to decide which clan produced the best awakeneds of the generation." Zane explained.

Jason nodded.

"They probably chose you to participate because of your unique condition, most dark-skins are weak and crippled, but even though you’re a cripple you have a special constitution that makes you strong.

In other words, they’re using it to boost the reputation of the clan."
