Chapter 66: The One Who Was Left Behind

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

She let out a ghastly scream.

Her heart.

The organ that pumped mana throughout the body, was beating at 200 beats per second.

Her blood literally boiled as her heart beat erratically, the pain that spread out throughout her entire body immense.

Mana was overflowing her whole system, causing adverse effects to her body as a whole.

The visualization technique she used was the cause of this.

She continued screaming until the body finally fell to the floor, but it didn’t survive.

She was dead.

She died a "peaceful" death.

Zane and Hereon looked over to the source of the scream.

But as soon as they looked away they were both stabbed simultaneously in the chest. A double-edged spear made of water that went through the monster’s body.

Zane was attacking from the front while Hereon attacked from behind, this weapon was created as soon as they turned to look at the source of the noise.

It stabbed through both of the awakeneds.

The boss monster grabbed the edge of the weapon, splitting it into two, both had the awakeneds at their edge.

"How ridiculous." The octopus monster remarked.

Water formed its decapitated limb, the water changed to the shape of the monster’s limb before perfectly fitting on.

It threw a heavy punch at Hereon, the boy couldn’t react in time and was sent propelled backwards, hitting a tree.

"Why turn your back on your opponents?" It asked, the first trident dissipating into air.

The monster hit Zane in the face with a right-hook, he coughed out blood. But he wasn’t given the same opportunity as Hereon, the boss monster held him so that he wouldn’t fly away.

It landed an uppercut on his jaw, blood gushing out of his body as he was sent upwards.

A tentacle latched onto his throat, choking him while bringing him down slowly before he finally face-to-face with the monster.

"How about you die?"

Zane’s body sparked in electricity, the sparks making contact with the monster and burning its skin.

The tentacle let go if his throat as the boss monster staggered back. Zane swiftly retreated.

’Just that took a chunk out of my mana reserves.’ Zane thought, his form coming up and down as he took in deep breaths.

His space ring glowed, but nothing came out.

’My healing potions... are finished!’

Meanwhile, Hereon staggered forward.

That single blow had taken most of his strength out of him, and added with the wound in his chest he felt his bones weak, unfortunately there wasn’t anything like an energy rejuvenation potion. If there was he would have downed a few bottles.

His body was weak but he moved forward, he was well aware that if he died here he wouldn’t be able to do that.

Give his sister her last respects.

With a surge of determination he charged forward, his sword had flown out of his hand after the blow from the monster made contact.

He cocked his fists.

"Die!" He yelled as he charged towards the monster.

The octopus monster had its sight completely on Zane, completely ignoring Hereon, but now that it heard his shouts it turned to his direction.

"How foolish." It remarked.

As he ran a wall of water emerged before him, it was too sudden, he didn’t have time to get around it.

He crashed into it.

Hereon fell onto the ground.

His limbs were too weak to respond to his commands, he laid defeated on the ground.

The wall dispersed as the monster walked towards him.

"Do you know silence?" The monster asked as it stepped on his head. "Maybe if you had been silent you would have had a chance of killing me. Just maybe."

It got off his head and returned its attention to Zane.

"Now, shall we continue?" It asked.

A wall of water came crashing down on Zane, he was too fatigued to dodge, the water falling onto him like a waterfall. He didn’t have the strength or energy to try to resist, he fell onto the ground.

He tried to get up but his arms didn’t respond.

"Pathetic." It said in disdain.

"But still, you two are the strongest here. Its only right that you get to see those weaker than you die."

It outstretched its hand, mana gathering at the octopus monster’s fingertips.

*Bang

*Bang

*Bang

It launched out three fish monsters from its hand. The sound made resembling that of a balloon popping.

They flew at an incredible speed.

The long-rangers were frightened upon seeing this, they’re first instinct was to shield themselves with mana.

It shot at the three with pinpoint accuracy.

The fish monsters broke through the mana shields, the various elements breaking under the impact of the monsters.

The crimson red liquid spurted out of a boy’s head, the scene resembling that of a fountain sprayer out water.

Another long-ranger, a girl with brown hair, she had a large gaping hole through her stomach, blood dripping out of the bole, staining the ground. The fish monster had flown through her stomach and left a big hole.

The last one, a boy, was evidently the one who suffered the most.

Unlike the others that had their heads blown off and a gaping hole through the stomach, this one had his lower section blown off.

Blood gushed out, the crimson liquid mingling with the sand.

He let out low whimpers.

The boy was still alive, but barely.

The boss monster didn’t hesitate, it went to the bodies it had knocked unconscious.

Its foot crushed the head of its victims, bits of the brain and red blood sticking to its foot.

From a total of 8, they were reduced to just 3.

But that wouldn’t be for long, after all the monster had no intention of letting them.

"This was quite fun."

It’s words made the two boys blood boil, while the last, a Hachiman fell onto his knees. He knew that he wouldn’t come out of this alive.

’It’s all that bastard’s fault!’ Tears streamed down his eyes. ’Why did he drag us into this?!! Now I’m going to die!’

He felt defeated.

Someone walked past him.

’Did somebody else go through the opening? Are they all thirsty for death!’

Due to the tears in his eyes he couldn’t see the person. But curiosity took over him, he wiped his eyes and looked at the figure.

"How?!" Before he had been afraid of talking, scared that the monster would notice that he was still alive.

But what he saw made him dumbfounded.

A blue jacket and blue trousers.

And most importantly, dark-skinned.

"Isn’t he dead?!!" He trembled.

The boss on the other hand regarded the newcomer with interest.

"Another fool walks on a path of no return." It commented.

*Boom

The ground underneath his feet cracked.

Before the octopus monster could comprehend what happened blue blood gushed out of its mouth which was surrounded by tentacles.

The cause, it had been hit by a staff.

A three-sectioned-staff.

Zane looked up.

Hereon looked up.

Both couldn’t believe what they saw.

"How?!" Hereon couldn’t believe it, he had shot this very same person through the heart. He was supposed to be dead.

"So, he’s still alive." A smile formed on Zane’s face.

They wouldn’t die in the dungeon.

This person was strong.

Jason.

Jason Hachiman... was strong.
