Chapter 59: The Third Arrival

... Earlier (Hereon’s Perspective)

The sea wasn’t peaceful. The waves were turbulent and the raft almost gave up many times, it was only by luck that they managed to reach the island without their raft crashing and having to swim.

The light in the dungeon was at its highest, even without a sun in the sky it didn’t take much to realize that this was the afternoon.

Hereon and Titania got off the raft upon arriving at the shore.

Titania got off immediately, the girl was eager to stretch her legs.

Hereon on the other hand was wary, his sights were set on Jason, he had a bone to settle with the dark-skin.

"Do you think he’ll find him?" Titania asked her brother.

Hereon looked up. "You can’t expect those branch family members to lie."

Titania nodded.

Hereon lifted their raft out of the waters and hoisted it onto the shore.

With his sister tailing behind him he walked towards the cave, he put a leg forward.

Hereon felt a sensation spread throughout his leg, it was comparable to how he felt when the elder used the teleportation treasure.

"This cave will send us somewhere else." Hereon informed his sister. "It seems to use some kind of teleportation."

"But the dark-skin went through it."

Hereon nodded, he could already tell where this was going.

"So..." Titania began, she put a foot forward feeling the sensation before putting her whole body through.

’She did it.’

He followed suite, going into the cave.

The world around them changed, the interior of the cave didn’t resemble how it was now when he looked from outside.

Around him were the rocky walls of the cave, he caught sight of his sister walking in front of him.

He walked over to her briskly before matching her pace.

"Why didn’t you wait for me?"

She smirked. "Because I knew that you would follow me."

Hereon didn’t retort, his sister knew him too well.

"And besides, how would you meet father if you don’t do what he told you to do."

His expression turned serious, the order his father had given him was important, but why did she have to bring it up?

"Are you still carrying it?" She asked.

"Yeah, I’m carrying it."

His space ring glowed in a dim light as a crude-looking revolver appeared in his hand.

The gun was painted white and black, it didn’t have a trigger guard, to shoot it required one to input their mana into it.

This revolver lacked many important components that were by far the most important parts of it, the components of the gun that made it work and prevented accidental shooting.

But the firepower it was able to produce was comparable to a nuke.

"Do you still remember how to use it?" She asked teasingly.

"Isn’t it just inputting my mana into it. In case you don’t remember let me explain it to you, I noticed your drool when father was explaining it." He replied with the same energy. "Once I input my mana into it, the treasure will force the mana stored before out in a single compressed blast."

She laughed.

"That reminds me of how a dork explains."

"Sure, laugh it up."

He paused, nudging his sister to look ahead. The girl followed his gaze, her eyes coming across three different paths.

"Let’s split up." She suggested quickly.

"We can’t."

"Then take left."

Hereon sighed but followed anyway.

The walked for what felt like minutes before coming across a monster.

"It’s dead." Titania pointed out as soon as they found it.

"Do you think its Jason that killed it?" Hereon asked, the ring on his finger glowing as a dagger appeared in his hand.

He carved out the skin of the monster before dipping his hands inside, after a minute of searching he pulled out a heart.

The boy quickly stored it in his space ring.

"Dunno." She replied after thinking for awhile.

"Of course, how would you know?" He said as he brought his hand forward.

A small ball of water enveloped his hands, his sister manipulated water magic to clean her brother’s hand.

As all the organs came off she directed the water to the edge of the cave before letting it go, the blood which had mixed with the ball of water and the intestines of the spider dropped onto the rocky surface of the ground.

"It looks like he came through here, how else would you explain the monster corpse?"

"But the heart wasn’t taken out."

"Because he already had many hearts to begin with, the goblins and the spiders, there wouldn’t be any need to gather more when its obvious he’s saving the rest of the slots for the boss and the other sub-boss."

"Oh."

"Sometimes I really wonder about..." He stopped speaking.

"Let’s continue, if we walk fast enough we’ll meet him." Titania said before walking forward.

Hereon trudged behind her, his steps were slow as he watched his sister walking.

’Of course, I guess we all have our own reasons for wanting him dead.’ Hereon thought with a smile.

...

"Take this." The second elder; a bald man that had the face of someone who was past his prime; he had red eyes, had an aged face and wore a blue robe.

The man handed a crude revolver to his son; Hereon.

"I’ve stored my mana in this treasure, once you see the dark-skin aim it carefully at his head or heart, insert your mana into it and a blast of my condensed mana will shoot out from the tip."

Hereon stared at the weapon that had just been handed to him.

"This is an unranked treasure, it allows you to store your mana in it, an infinite amount of mana can be stored in it, but it requires another person to insert their mana into it for this treasure to release the previously stored mana.

It can take an infinite amount of a single person’s mana, but when someone with a different mana signature inserts their mana into it, the treasure has to release the previously stored mana."

"You already know what mana signature is, or do you need me to explain that to you?"

Hereon nodded after the man finished his explanation.
