Chapter 55: Day 3
Chapter 55: Day 3
...
Jason awoke after sleeping for sometime.
He quickly regained himself and began to ponder.
"How long have I been sleeping?" He asked himself.
Being unable to tell how much time he had been asleep, Jason could only make a guess.
He felt like he slept for hours and his back was aching after laying on the rocky ground for so long.
"I’d say about 7 or 8 hours." Jason decided.
He got up, his eyes scanned the environment for any signs of change. Anything could happen while he was asleep.
He didn’t see any changes.
Jason had already tried the left path. It had been a futile attempt as he hadn’t even made any progress, the path seemed to have no end, no destination, just a maddening loop.
The next path he was going to try was the middle.
Jason walked towards the middle path and glanced at it, it seemed as unassuming as the last one, it was impossible for him to point out any differences between the two of them.
He moved towards the path before completely going through it.
His steps were brisk, he wasn’t in a hurry but he didn’t want to walk through another loop for what seemed like hours on end.
The stone crunched beneath his foot each time he took a step forward, and his katana sliced each long legged spider he saw into half.
He moved briskly.
The water from the ceiling dripped down onto the floor and occasionally his head.
But the intensity of the stones in the walls light decreased!
Jason paid no heed to it.
"Its quiet." Jason noticed.
He had been walking for awhile now, and his steps were basically echoing through the cave.
He still saw the continuous spiders, even in larger numbers now.
Jason now found them at 4 to 6.
His blade moved seamlessly in the air as his weapon struck down on each of the spiders, some were killed by being stabbed, others were cleaved in half, the unlucky few had their long, slender limbs cut off before they were diced.
He began walking away from the sight of the devastation, he didn’t bother to look back.
"Wait... Isn’t it getting a bit too dark?" Jason asked seemingly no one.
He hadn’t paid attention when the light that was being emitted by the stones decreased, but now that he could even see up to two meters forward he was alarmed.
Nevertheless, he still ventured forward. Only a monster as big as the Giant Arachnid Spider could hope to do significant damage to him in this dungeon could hope to do damage to him.
At most the spider’s acid would only do a little damage to his skin.
His mind wandered back to the left path.
’An endless loop.’ Jason thought. ’Or is it.’
There were obvious differences between that path and the path he was on currently, that should be a good sign.
’I’ll find out soon enough.’
A faint noise broke the silence, it was softer than the screeches some spiders made when they were at death’s door.
Jason paused, awaiting to hear what would happen next.
But the noise didn’t continue, it stopped there.
The silence confused, but for a long moment Jason stood there, wondering if the creature was afraid of him and hiding in the darkness while waiting for him to pass.
He reluctantly continued on his way.
The light that was emanated from the rocks got dimmer the deeper he went, it continued like this until everything was just pitch-black.
"Is this one another dead end?" Jason asked himself.
Even if he tried looking backwards to the light he wouldn’t see anything.
He tried walking back.
Jason found himself facing the three paths again.
He groaned.
"At least this proves that my theory was correct, it is a loop." This small fact wasn’t enough to encourage Jason.
He could feel that he had spent a considerable amount of time going through the middle path.
"And the novel wasn’t even like this." He whispered to himself.
For starters, there was nothing like a cave in a dungeon that seemed to be a dungeon itself.
And in dungeons there weren’t any challenges!
Beating a dungeon was supposed to be simple: kill the monsters, find the boss, if they’re any sub-bosses (there are barely triple dungeons) kill them, then kill the boss and leave.
Such an adventure didn’t take up to two days.
But for some reason he had found three paths and he supposed two were an illusion.
And for some reason this dungeon had a beach section and a cavern section, something not even mentioned in TWODK.
He sighed then proceeded to head towards the last path, the right; hopefully it wouldn’t be an illusion, if it was an illusion, in anger Jason would use War God’s Embrace and punch the walls.
Jason stepped into it.
"It doesn’t look different from the outside, but from the inside you can tell that its different from the others." Jason commented as he noticed the weird design of the room.
The stones that emitted light hung down from the ceiling, the other paths had the stones on the wall.
The walls had their own charm.
There were writings on the wall, but it was unlike the one’s in the goblin homes.
The system translated it for him.
[Day 1: Regained Sentience]
Jason’s eyes widened as he realized that the system was translating the writings on the wall.
"Regained sentience?" This could only mean that a monster wrote this.
[Day 2: Realized I reincarnated as the rank 1 monster I killed on battlefield. But, the strength of the monster was only up to peak rank 5.]
[Day 3: Almost evolved into rank 4 monster but I held back]
[Day 4: Leftover mana from holding back evolution continued gathering]
[Day 5: I could no longer hold back, released the energy, it created the cavern]
[Day 6: Hobgoblin tried to eat me. It exploded.]
Jason could not believe the absurdity of the text.
It was just a simple rank 4 dungeon, which human regained their sentience?
[Day 7: Moved to the cavern]
[Day 8: Monsters from outside teleport inside... somehow]
[Day 9: Monster Lord fragment came, HE found out that I had regained memories, tried to seal me]
[Day 10: Sealed in a form. Hoping someone will save me...
When I come out I will kick his balls]
The writings on the wall ended and the system screen disappeared.
