Talent System: I Instantly Master My Opponents Skills -
Chapter 45: Two Times
Chapter 45: Two Times
The atmosphere shifted, a tension hung in the air that felt electric.
Alaric’s eyes widened in horror, but he quickly got a grip on himself and regained his composure.
"Everyone, stay alert." He ordered before taking a step back.
The others were visibly shaken but they had seen such things when they’re families prepared them for the dungeon. They moved backwards, following their leader.
Jason had the eyes of a predator sizing up prey. His gaze moved from one awakened to another.
"All of you, together, give him another one."
They all nodded.
6 hands began manipulating magic, using the energy to craft fireballs.
The temperature around them rose as the balls of fire began forming.
But before anyone could fire their fireballs at Jason he suddenly disappeared from his original spot.
"Huh?"
A girl’s mouth opened wide in surprise as she saw the figure in front of her.
Her fireball crackled before abruptly disappearing.
’First, the ones who use long-range magic.’
They were the first on his list because they could also learn and use basic support skills to increase their ally’s strength, not only was it more effective than using it on oneself but was also better than buff skills of the same class.
"Delayed fist." Jason’s voice was barely a whisper before his fist came in contact with the girl’s gut.
The other fireballs were released in shock after the long-rangers noticed that the person they were aiming at were gone.
Before anyone could retaliate he moved away and went back to his original position.
Alaric’s group was shocked when they saw that the punch had no power in it.
Alaric barely managed to stifle a smirk. "It seems like his strength is waning, w-"
*Bang
Her body exploded, the sound made was akin to that of a gunshot as she popped.
Her blood flew out in all directions, it was followed by her internal organs that flew threw the air. Some landed on her teammates.
Not even half a minute had passed before half of his assailants started vomiting.
Truth be told, watching them almost made Jason want to vomit. But the difference was he hadn’t had anything to eat.
Jason applied pressure to his ring making it emit a faint light. The dagger appeared in his hand.
He looked at his foes.
One of them was forming a spear of lightning and was prepared to aim it at him.
Before the boy could finish forming the spear of lightning Jason appeared before him, the lightning spear disappeared as the dagger was embedded into his neck.
Jason pulled it out.
He coughed out a mouthful of blood before moving his hands to try to cover the wound, but his efforts were futile as he fell onto the floor, dead.
The body fell to the floor with a thud.
"KILL HIM!!!" Someone shouted in rage.
"AAAHH!"
The third death signaled the start of the fight; all the awakeneds came at Jason.
Jason didn’t even need to focus in the battle, physical fights were the field he excelled in.
Sound disappeared and time slowed down.
The power of the physical stat at late stage 4 began to show off, it was also combined with the mental stat of early stage 3, and the results were crystal clear.
He easily dodged all the attacks that were aimed at him.
"Just die, you fucker!" One of them yelled as he ignored his teammates and began to throw his fists.
"Die!" Another one joined the assault.
But even with their combined strength, Jason was still able to easily weave through all their attacks.
He dodged both attacks simultaneously before stabbing into the guts of one. The other boy tried to react but he was swiftly stabbed in the shoulder.
"Urggk."
"Arrghh."
Both boys groaned simultaneously.
Jason sensed that something was about to happen so he hurriedly backed off.
One of them held his stomach as he felt something rising in his throat.
His mouth unleashed a large amount of blood, the liquid soaking his attire after splashing on the floor.
The other one grew completely still, he was stuck in the position he was after getting stabbed as blood spilled from his mouth as if it were an open faucet.
’Poisoning!’ Jason thought.
’Paralysis! He was ecstatic.
This was the first time the dagger had poisoned anyone, and he managed to do it on both targets.
It was truly his lucky day.
Their heads flew off as they suffered.
The heads rolled on the floor even while the two bodies remained uprooted to the ground. Their expressions could only be described as one of pain.
Even their lips were bloody.
"Aren’t you the last one?"
Contrary to what Jason expected, Alaric had a calm demeanor. He wasn’t as frightened as Jason thought he would be.
Alaric took in a deep breath before his body began to grow in size, his muscles became bulkier and the veins on his forehead began to show.
His clothes ripped under the strain of the new body until he was left wearing nothing but his pants.
"Aaah!" He shouted.
With a determined expression he stared Jason down.
’He used a buff.’
Jason’s low aptitude for magic could affect mana when people were manipulating it outside their body, he could swiftly dispel it.
But buff skills used mana inside the body, and since regular human beings couldn’t take in nature energy they could still cast it.
Alaric kicked the ground as he began his charge.
’If he uses his fist my body will be able to suppress the explosion, and in case he decides to use the dagger to poison me, it won’t be able to pierce my skin thanks to the buff!’
"Your dagger cannot pierce my skin!" Alaric grinned savagely.
"Your fists cannot damage me!" His grin grew even larger.
Suddenly, he felt a hand grip his head mid-charge.
"Alaric, I admit that you might be strong. However, I am stronger."
The space suddenly spun around him and the sky in the dungeon was the only thing he was facing.
His head made direct contact with the floor!
Alaric’s head shook, a sharp pain had spread throughout his neck, back and even his head.
He tried to rise but his body would not listen, he could only remain sprawled on the ground.
He coughed out a mouthful of blood.
’He grabbed my head...’
Jason stood next to Alaric. The boy couldn’t even move his own body.
The results were clear and the winner had already be decided.
The loser would be eliminated.
Alaric tried to raise a hand but failed.
"W-wait."
"P-please, let me live. If you want money, when we get out of the dungeon I’ll give it to you. If you also want my hearts with it take it, just let me live-"
"Two times." Jason’s words interrupted his plea.
"Aren’t you ashamed by asking someone you tried to kill twice to forgive you?"
First: Ordering the boy to use his magic to burn him.
Second: Ordering the three of them to cast fireballs on him again.
And that was even excluding the fight.
It was a dog-eat-dog world.
And those who weren’t ready for it weren’t going to live through it.
"There is no mercy for someone like you."
After he realized that he could not plead for mercy Alaric spouted his anger out.
"I always hated dark-skins!" He spouted, those were his last words.
Blood painted Jason’s shoes. He had crushed Alaric’s head.
"My hands are covered in blood... Literally and figuratively."
Jason realized the error.
"My hand." He said solemnly.
