Talent System: I Instantly Master My Opponents Skills
Chapter 127: Leaving The Settlement

Chapter 127: Leaving The Settlement

"You can stay here for now."

He said.

Asahi nodded.

Jason took this a cue to leave, quickly leaving the old building behind.

"Crazy."

He muttered to himself, shaking his head lightly.

From fighting someone stronger than him to recruiting that person and now...

He was tired.

All he wanted to do now was rest, tomorrow he could think about the ordeals of the day.

"Why didn’t you kill him?"

He froze in his steps.

He recognized that voice.

"He seemed to mistake us for someone else."

He replied, continuing his walk.

"Hmm..."

Just like that, the person was now gone.

She appeared as quickly as she left.

And most times she appeared it was so sudden that even he was unable to pick up on it until she finally made her presence known.

He briskly walked past people, knowing the destination he was heading.

He was going to meet the owner of the inn at which he was resting at and would kindly pay him for the trouble Asahi had caused.

But with her appearance his thoughts gradually shifted over to Asahi.

He couldn’t help but wonder about the boy’s sad story.

’He had a rank 1 awakening when he saw his sister die in front of him, so how does he have rank 0 strength?’

Jason couldn’t help but question.

[The human, Asahi, came in contact with a mythical being]

Jason scowled as the notification popped up, answering his question.

To passerby’s it seemed like he had just remembered a nasty thought.

It had been a long time since the system had actively interacted with him, catching him off guard.

When he had questioned it about the essence of a being, it was silent.

But now, for a random passing thought, it had decided to answer.

’The stench is unbearable.’

He thought grimly, still focusing on the blue screen in front of him.

’So he came in contact with a mythical being?’

Mythical being were gods, the ones that blessed clans with certain techniques that could only be inherited by their descendants.

Throughout the novel, no god ever made an appearance...

Except one...

’It could be that the mythical being was the one that resurrected him after he died and even increased his potential to the peak.’

Jason mused.

He dispelled the screen in front of him and focused on the road ahead of him.

He turned to the side and entered a familiar building.

The person he was looking for was the woman in charge of the place.

He went to the counter and gripped his space ring tightly.

"I’m sorry for the trouble I caused."

Jason said as he reached her.

"There’s no need to apologize."

She quickly replied.

"Take, for the trouble I caused."

He dropped a large pail of water on the counter and left.

The woman didn’t reject it, instead she bowed down.

"Thank you."

He nodded in response and walked away.

Jason could feel the eyes that watched him closely, as if they were planning on boring holes right through his soul.

He yawned as he entered his room, falling onto the ground.

To him, the ground was comfortable enough.

In fact, he had even told the innkeeper to remove the mattress from the room because he would not be using it.

’I guess I’m not eating today.’

A random thought came to him, making him grin widely.

’I guess I was right; strong people do attract strong people.’

He didn’t even have to think himself to sleep, the fatigue caught up to him and he slept off.

...The Next Day

His eyes opened instantly.

The same eyes darted around the room, trying to find anyone who wasn’t meant to be here.

When there wasn’t, he finally calmed down.

Jason yawned.

He was still tired and he had woken up abruptly, there had to be a reason.

Normally he slept in late and didn’t wake up unless there was another presence close to him.

"Where are you?"

He asked, seemingly to no one.

Sean walked through the door.

"What do you want?"

He asked quickly, hoping to get back to his sleep.

"Where is the mattress?"

Sean asked.

Jason groaned in annoyance to his question but still decided to humor him.

"I didn’t need one so I requested that it was taken away."

He answered irritably.

"Is that all? If so, then goodbye."

He motioned for Sean to shut the door behind him.

"No. We’re leaving in an hour."

He stared unblinking at the wall.

"Why?"

He asked in curiosity.

"We’ve already wasted enough time here."

Jason stared at him for a moment, his eyes locking with the boy’s.

"I’ll be ready an hour."

Sean didn’t say anything but was about to shut the door behind him.

"Wait!"

Jason called out.

Sean stopped.

"What is her name?"

He asked.

The boy seemed confused for a moment before he finally realized.

"Lyra."

"Is she a Hachiman?"

"No."

’The system says she has no name so I didn’t think she was a Hachiman, but still... she has the blue eyes and the blue hair.’

Sean shut the door behind him quickly, almost as if he was trying to avoid Jason.

’Is he telling the truth or is he making that name up on the spot?’

All the sleep instantly vanished.

He rushed out of the room and went to the one opposite him.

That was Kira’s room.

Unsurprisingly, the room was empty. The person who stayed in it had already left long ago.

’I guess I’ll have to go with his words.’

Despite his thoughts, he still planned on finishing quickly so he could ask Kira.

’Why does the system show none instead of Lyra, as Sean claims?’

He wondered, finding a secluded area to have a quick bath.

Once he was done he discarded the pail. He didn’t even like it because it wasted his limited space in the space ring.

He quickly wore a new pair of clothing.

"At this rate, I’ll be out of clothing in some weeks."

He would have to resolve to keep his clothing and shoes in good shape, and hope they wouldn’t end up like his last two pairs.

He found Sean waiting for him outside after dropping his key off with the innkeeper.

"Let’s go."

He sounded irritated.

’Did I really use one hour to get dressed?’

He didn’t really know, after all, he never knew the time.

Sean leaped onto the roof of a building, Jason followed after him.

"How easy was the dungeon?"

The boy spared him a look.

He didn’t respond and instead ignored him, moving swiftly across the roofs of each building.

Jason did not bother, he increased his speed.

In a flash, Sean was left behind.

It wasn’t like tree jumping that required much more skill, it was simply running on buildings then leaping onto the next one.

Before long, Jason had arrived at the other entrance to the settlement.

"I’m here."

Jason quickly called out, noticing that he wasn’t alone.

Kira looked up.

Unlike most people, he couldn’t detect Jason’s presence.

It was like he wasn’t even there to begin with.

If Jason was being stealthy, it would be impossible for Kira to discover him unless he made a mistake.

That was the same for Asahi.

"Where is Sean?"

Jason pointed behind him.

But even then, Sean couldn’t be seen behind him.

He was far behind.

Kira nodded in response.

With his improved vision, he could see his brother behind.

"Why are we going now?"

Jason asked suddenly.

Kira sighed in response.

"I have a reason for being out here and for that reason..."

He didn’t finish his words.

His gaze shifted towards the horizon, where the light seemed to come from.

"But, I suppose that you’ll find out soon enough."

He said, his lips forming a cryptic smile.

"We would have gone earlier but I was looking for a map, it was only recently that I found it."

He sighed again.

"They’re just many things that are happening and we need to stay a step ahead."

Jason nodded.

’He has many things that he doesn’t say.’

He thought.

But who was he to complain, he too had many secrets that he didn’t bother to talk about.

"I can’t tell you everything about myself."

He said as if he was reading Jason’s mind.

Just then, Sean came running.

They were on the outskirts of the settlement, mostly around the farmlands.

"Where is Asahi?"

Kira asked his brother.

Sean shrugged in response.

"I don’t know, maybe he’ll come soon."

’Has an hour already passed?’

If anything, he would like to continue his sleep. At least, until they were leaving.

Just then, a figure came sprinting.

Sparks of lightning surrounded him, but they were quickly snuffed out as he approached Jason.

"I’m here."

He stopped.

"I didn’t know where you all were, so I had to run around the settlement."

He quickly explained himself, noticing the piercing gazes from all around.

Even she was looking at him, and her eyes were the most scary out of all of them.

"That’s understandable."

Kira didn’t seem that interested in it.

"As long as you agree to your end of the deal you can tag along."

Kira paused, saying no more.

"Let’s go."

They had to leave manually, passing through the guards stationed there.

It was only after each of them were checked that they were allowed to go.

As they arrived outside, the snow hit them.

Everyone, except one, knew what to do instinctively.

Their forms blitzed, a blurry afterimage forming in their place.

They reappeared a good distance away, leaving Asahi standing like a fool.
