Chapter 126: Welcome

"Release?"

He questioned.

If this was something special he could do, why wasn’t it listed among his talents.

But still, the words that had come out from Asahi’s mouth when he used the powerful move was actually release.

Jason sighed.

"Don’t worry about it, let’s go meet the other guy."

Asahi got up quickly and followed Jason.

Both of them took a short route, passing through the wall Asahi had opened.

’He’s going to pay for it.’

Jason thought as he saw how easily the boy had walked through it, he didn’t even bother to look sorry anymore.

The trouble that came with breaking down this wall, he wasn’t the one that was going to bear the responsibility.

They walked with Jason leading him.

As they moved, the people on the road regarded Jason with a quick glance before walking away.

Asahi noticed this.

"You’re pretty famous, aren’t ya?"

He commented as yet another person regarded Jason with a quick glance before leaving.

He was completely ignored, as if he wasn’t there.

"Hmm."

He nodded in response.

People regarded him like this because during his short stay in the settlement he had become a supplier of water.

Water was scarce as the barrier that was erected over the town prevented anything without any power to force themselves into it.

Water was a delicacy. Beer was even more expensive.

Asahi grinned.

"I’m surprised that they aren’t running away from you."

His grin grew wider.

The person he was speaking to, that person’s expression turned dark.

Jason did not respond to his words and increased his pace.

’If he wasn’t someone important, had a special move, and had all the current types of magic under his belt, I would have already tried to kill him by now.’

Jason comforted himself, trying to resist the urge to trades fists with this guy.

If Asahi had said it blatantly, like how he had said it when they first met, he would have already gone to blows.

He moved even faster.

Asahi was able to follow him easily.

After a while, they finally arrived at a building.

It was unlike most of the buildings that were in the town, this one was dilapidated with small fist-sized holes everywhere on its walls.

Jason opened the door, the wood creaked loudly as he entered.

"Is he in here?"

Asahi asked, noticing the poor condition the building they were entering was.

But Jason’s expression shut him up.

’He should be wondering on how he should beg since he had cut off Kira’s hand, and even lamented on the fact that he was unable to cut his head off.’

Both of them walked through the door, closing it behind them.

There were worn-out chairs that were literally on their last leg, and tables that were covered with dust.

In the middle of the room there was a small ember on the ground, it warmed and brought light to the entire place.

’Its made out of magic.’

Jason realized, watching the flames.

As he walked closer, the flames crackled.

But that was all, it didn’t go out. It barely reacted to his presence.

This wasn’t something Kira could make, it was surely the other person.

They moved past the flame and proceeded to go deeper into the dilapidated building.

He navigated his way through the large building, making several turns at various corners.

At each corner there was a small ember that brought warmth and light to the rooms.

Finally, they arrived at a door.

"After you."

Jason graciously moved back, even gesturing to the doorknob.

Asahi didn’t think much about it and went to the door, he hesitated for a split-second as he thought about his past actions.

He had tried to kill humans, and now he wanted to ask the very same human that he had failed to kill and was going to plead to allow him join his group.

After a moment of internal debating, his hand finally touched the doorknob.

Then, something struck him, forcing his hand off the doorknob. Asahi fell onto the ground, his body couldn’t be controlled.

An invisible force pressed him down, a force of concentrated mana aimed and controlled directly at him.

And then it suddenly vanished. The force pressing him down was gone in an instant.

He couldn’t even think of it as an ambush before Jason extended his hand.

Asahi quickly took his hand and got up.

"What was that?"

He asked, his voice wary.

’Should I tell him?’

Jason wondered.

Seeing someone just suddenly fall onto the ground, his first thought was that someone had caused it.

There was currently no one in this small settlement who could have caused him to have fall except one person.

It was someone with mana at stage 9.

’Nah.’

"Let’s just say, people aren’t happy about what you did to him?"

Asahi’s brow furrowed.

"Isn’t it just the two of you?"

Jason shook his head.

"There are two more."

He took the initiative to open the door.

What greeted him at the other side wasn’t pleasant.

But at the same time, it wasn’t bad either.

It just didn’t fit the current situation quite well.

She wasn’t there, but Sean and Kira were there.

Kira was there, sitting at a table with scattered maps and documents, his brows furrowed in concentration.

Standing next to him was his little brother whom had undoubtedly brought the documents and maps for him.

Both of them looked up, regarding the visitors.

"Who is he?"

Sean questioned, inquiring about the newcomer.

His clothes were torn, but apart from that, there were no injuries on him.

Kira was quicker to respond, his body flashed. A blurry afterimage was left in his place.

"What do you want?"

Kira asked coldly.

He pressed his cold steel against Asahi’s neck threateningly, as if daring him to move.

His arm had regrown.

"I brought him here."

Jason quickly intervened, though his face showed nonchalance about the whole situation.

As the cold steel was pressed against Asahi’s neck, the tension grew.

"Jason..."

He began, his voice low and edged with frigid disdain.

"... Are you insane? Why would you bring him here?"

Asahi swallowed hard.

Sean didn’t understand what was happening right now.

When he came here he saw his brother here, now the same brother who was moments ago just sitting here was now pointing his dagger at someone’s neck.

He didn’t know what to make of this situation.

"We agreed to take him back and not kill him if he wasn’t a corrupted human."

Jason reminded the boy, and then he quickly added.

"Unfortunately, when he woke up, he insisted on joining us. So, I had no other choice but to bring him to you to decide."

Kira’s face didn’t ease up, even after he had heard Jason’s words.

Instead he pressured the blade even tighter, drawing blood. The amount wasn’t plentiful, but it was enough to show his distrust towards this person.

"How do you know he can be trusted?’

He questioned.

Jason paused, unsure of what to say.

He hadn’t even bothered to check.

It could be true that Asahi couldn’t be trusted.

’Why didn’t I think of that, is it because he seems like such a good person?"

The thought slipped his mind because he believed he already he already had a good grasp on his personality.

’I screwed up.’

He reprimanded himself.

Suddenly, Kira brought his blade back.

His body flashed, replaced by a blurry afterimage. He suddenly appeared on the same chair he sat on before.

His tone lost all its cold.

"What do you want to ask me?"

He asked, his tone displeased.

Asahi couldn’t believe what had happened and his brain struggled to understand.

One moment ago, this person was threatening to cut his head off, the next, he had seemed to have forgiven him.

"Why did you stop?"

Jason questioned, even going into the room.

He was confused.

It was just like the time he had met Jason and he easily believed him.

There was certainly something wrong here.

’Is he a good judge of character or something?’

"He doesn’t have any malicious intentions."

Kira said.

Jason’s brows furrowed, he turned to Sean.

But even the boy seemed to understand his brother’s reasoning.

"But didn’t you just say that he couldn’t be trusted?"

He asked.

"...Look, I have my reasons."

He chose not to pry any further.

"What do you want to ask me?"

Kira questioned again, returning his attention to Asahi.

The person in question took a deep breath.

"I want to join your group."

"No."

The reply was instant.

"You’ll only be a liability if you join us, and apart from that you barely have anything you could offer-"

He was interrupted.

"I can teach you all my skills and even the technique I used against two of you."

Kira, who regarded him in displeasure, suddenly became interested in his words.

’So the language he speaks is skills, maybe I could gift him one.’

Jason thought about teaching him the Breathing Technique or even Blade Strike.

Kira didn’t speak, but his face showed his interest.

"Are you the one that was responsible for the magma rock?"

He asked.

The person in question, Asahi, showed confusion as he tried to remember a rock made of frozen magma.

"Oh."

He said.

"I’m the one that did it, I left it there."

He admitted.

Kira saw this and extended a hand.

"Welcome."

Asahi walked over and shook his hand.

’That idiot, he didn’t even bother apologizing for what he did.’

Jason would have sighed but restrained himself.

’But I guess Kira doesn’t care anymore.’
