Chapter 114: Human Settlement (1)
Chapter 114: Human Settlement (1)
Kira wiped his face, feeling that he had just confided too much information to someone he didn’t trust well enough.
"You should rest well, we’ll leave when they get back."
’How will I move in this condition?’ He wondered.
The boy got up, turning away from him.
"Don’t try to do anything, just rest."
Kira’s form vanished, disappearing a good distance away from the direction that Jason was facing.
’I’ll have to ask him to teach me that technique or skill if it is one.’
Even though he was told to sleep, he was pensive about it.
He had a wandering mind, a mind that was always active.
Jason always had many things to think about; ranging from what he was going to do next to how he would do it.
But eventually sleep finally came around the corner, grabbing him in a warm embrace.
Before he knew it, he was asleep.
...
[Host has no potential for mana]
[Host is lacking!]
...
Jason awoke, startled.
The only reason he wasn’t sweating was because of the cold environment. If not, the branch of the tree would have been soaked with his sweat.
’A nightmare.’ He assured himself.
’It’s been a while since I had a nightmare.’
’Or maybe its just reality replaying.’
Jason sighed.
He tried to move his limbs, however it was impossible. But he realized that he could move his upper body upward.
As he raised his head, he noticed someone next to him.
Her palm was pressed against his chest and an ethereal light-green glow surrounded it.
His mind tried to process what was happening.
’Healing magic?’
However, he quickly dismissed the thought.
Healing magic did not exist, only healing potions.
Though, there would be a time when more variations of magic like shadow magic, darkness magic, light magic and others, there was never any healing magic.
But he could tell that she was doing something, something that seemed to cause no harm to his current body.
He could only speculate about it until he saw results.
The process was agonizingly slow.
It took several minutes before any results began to show.
By then, Jason noticed that he was able to move his limbs. It was just a bit, but it was enough.
’Its not healing magic, then what is it?’
He doubted if the healing potion would work on him.
He could only wait as she did something.
Jason couldn’t help but glance at her features.
Blue eyes, blue hair, a beautiful face.
She reminded him of the clan guardian. He knew her very well, as she had threatened him and almost killed him on some occasions.
Naturally, they would have a bond with each other.
The process was long and uninteresting, but she performed the task dutifully.
Her eyes were unblinking and her focus was undeterred.
Hours passed by.
Sean occasionally came to check on him, but whenever he would see Jason’s situation he would snort something about him being weak and walk away.
Hours passed and Jason couldn’t fall asleep,
Finally, after what felt like a day, she stopped.
"Move."
She stood up and backed away from him.
’Her voice sounds familiar.’
But he noted that her tone was harsh.
Jason complied to her words.
His body felt stiff after lying on the branch on a tree for what seemed like days.
He tried to move his legs.
Surprisingly, they responded.
Then, he tried to move his arms as well.
They moved.
His limbs no longer felt like they were heavy weights. In fact, they felt lighter than he remembered them to be.
He stood up and moved his body around, he felt incredibly light. It was as if he was staying under 3x gravity for the whole time and was now moving under 1x gravity.
Jason checked his stats; curious to see if much had changed.
[Name: Jason Hachiman

Mental – Mid Stage 3

Skills: Advanced War Tactics, Advanced Cooking, Null eyes, Quick Evasive Steps, Delayed Fist, Terrible Cloning, War God’s Embrace, Blade Strike]
’Nothing changed.’
Even though he felt different, there were no changes to his stats.
’But at least that Essence of a Being should have been dispelled from my body.’
He endured harsh conditions, fought a battle with an opponent that was able to use a technique to keep up with him and endured backlash after overexerting his body.
If anything, the reason he entered the A-dungeon had been fulfilled.
’So now, I don’t really have to worry an unexpected death.’
It was somewhat of a relief to him.
After seeing his movements she turned, walking away.
"Wait." Jason called out.
She stopped her movements, tilting her head to face him.
"What do you have to say?"
"I would like to ask about how you healed me."
Jason had learned that when dealing with powerful beings he should be respectful, otherwise he could have his hand cleaved away a second time.
She looked at him, her head tilted to his direction.
"Nature energy." She replied, facing forward and walking away.
’Oh.’
He mouthed.
’So she used nature energy to heal me?’
Unfortunately, that wasn’t an application of Nature energy Jason knew about.
He couldn’t even use Nature energy in the creation of anything except clones, and even then he could only currently create two clones.
Now, he understood what Kira meant by heading out in a few hours. Though Jason couldn’t tell if a few hours meant a day or so.
He never saw darkness in this place, it made him wonder sometimes.
As Jason mused, a hand suddenly appeared on his shoulders.
He was obviously startled.
He grabbed his assailant’s hand violently and attempted to break it.
"Wait, its Kira."
Jason stopped.
"I see that you’re fully recovered now."
"Yes."
"Good. I know that you just recovered but we’ll be leaving in an hour, by then you better get prepared."
Without waiting for a response, he left.
His form flickered for a moment before entirely disappearing.
’He didn’t even wait.’
While the technique that Kira and his brother used to move was an undeniable eye-catcher to him, he didn’t focus on it now.
He had a more pressing matter.
He was hungry.
’I’ll just eat, I guess.’
He sat down on the branch and looked at his space ring.
He observed the intricate design on it.
’Sometimes, I’m worried that it might accidentally break when I punch.’
Luckily, he kept it on his left hand.
But even then, it was still made of a durable material.
Most awakeneds fought with weapons and magic, throwing fists was underrated.
Jason too did not fight with hands unless he was bullying someone with his superior strength or when he had no other option.
He brought out the crates and ate.
After eating six plates he satiated his hunger. He kept the crate back in his space ring before bringing out the one for water and drinking to his satisfaction.
He returned the crate to his space ring as well.
Satisfied, Jason went to rested his back on the tree, waiting for the hour to pass.
"We’re leaving, are you ready?"
Kira suddenly appeared in front of him.
’Would it hurt him to not surprise me like that.’
Jason did not know.
"Yes, I’m ready to go."
"Good, follow me."
This time his form didn’t suddenly vanish.
"We’re heading to Maze village, its currently the closest human settlement and it also lies in the path to the Hachiman clan main residence.
You should have passed by it recently on your travels since you come from the Hachiman clan so we should have an easier time getting through it." He explained.
Jason didn’t respond, he only nodded to show he was listening.
"It will take us a day and a half to reach there when moving so there’s no need to hunt for food."
Jason nodded once more.
’I would be asking about human settlements but I don’t want to feel too out of place.’
’According to my memories and information from the novel, only half of the world was originally invaded by monsters and the rest remained blissfully aware.
The other half fought a secret war, unknown to the public.’
’However, I know that the A-dungeon takes events from the past, perfectly utilizing a situation that adapts to my strength.’
Jason began to question the time and place he was in.
It was possible that he was in the half of the world that had been overrun with monsters.
’I’ll know eventually when we arrive at the human settlement.’
He thought.
Both he and Kira arrived at the top of the tree.
There, Sean awaited them.
She too was present.
"Let’s go."
Three bodies vanished from their original positions, they were replaced by a brief flicker of their bodies.
Their bodies appeared on a tree a good distance from their original position.
Jason grunted, complaining about his inability to use that technique before leaping after them.
