Chapter 108: Strange Ones (5)

’Why does she look so familiar?’

He couldn’t put a finger on whom she reminded him of.

"Are you alright?"

Even though they had just met, Kira noticed that Jason was the kind of person that would zone out frequently.

Such a person wasn’t a reliable ally.

"I’m fine."

Jason checked the stats of the other boy who was said to be Kira’s brother.

[Name: Sean Hachiman

Age: 13

Physical – Mid Stage 2

Mental – Early Stage 2

Mana – Early Stage 3

Skills: Buff]

Compared to his brother, Sean had much more believable stats.

’But 13 and 15.’

If there was such a prodigy in the Hachiman clan wouldn’t they be nurtured more instead of being sent into a dungeon on a mission of no return.

’Perhaps something happened.’

He didn’t have any idea on it.

Nor did he have any ideas on a talent called buff.

[Name: None

Age: 16

Physical – Early Stage 5

Mental – Late Stage 8

Mana – Late Stage 7

Skills:]

After checking the girl’s stats he was borderline shocked.

Most of the girl’s stats were better than most people he had seen, with the exception being the Hachiman clan head.

Jason had never checked the clan guardian’s stats during all their meetings because he always had to stay alert.

The girl’s physical stats were the lowest and at Physical early stage 5, but even then they were the same as his own.

’I’m starting to regret following the footsteps.’

If he had actually engaged in a fight against Kira and his companions jumped in to join him in a 3v1.

Jason would have no chance of winning.

And a much more slimmer chance of surviving their encounter.

’Thankfully, we are from the same clan and we aren’t hostile against each other.’

"Who is he?" Sean questioned his brother, pointing at Jason.

His tone was flat and his body was tense, as if he was already prepared to attack Jason.

Sean’s blue hair cast a shadow over his left eye and his right eye observed Jason.

He seemed like someone who had survived many battle.

"He’s..." The boy’s voice trailed off after realizing that he didn’t even know the name of the newcomer.

"Jason."

"He’s Jason Hachiman."

Kira finally introduced him.

Sean’s face darkened at the mention of the Hachiman clan.

"Relax."

The words did little to change his temperament, however they did stop him from charging at the mention of the Hachiman clan.

The one who had said the words, were none other than the girl herself.

Kira ignored his brother.

"My name is Kira. The other boy’s name is Sean."

He then turned to his brother.

"Relax, he’s not our enemy."

"Not yet!" Sean countered. "Why would you suddenly believe a stranger? How do you know the clan didn’t send him to get rid of us?"

"The clan wouldn’t send someone out here for two people they’d think was already dead."

"And besides..." The boy paused. "She said so herself."

Sean suddenly stopped arguing. With "her" being mentioned, it seemed like Kira had already gotten the point across that he wasn’t a threat to them.

"Okay." Sean finally admitted defeat. "Is he joining us?"

"Yes."

"Great." Sean mumbled, falling onto his butt. "Another mouth to feed."

Nobody retorted his claim, maybe it was because they knew that what he said was true.

They certainly did have another mouth to feed.

’Who’s feeding who?’

Jason wanted to say that out loud but refrained from doing so.

He had brought a lot of food with him before venturing inside the dungeon. The 100 items space inside the space ring meant that he could only put 100 items inside and while the same rule applied to food, if he stored the food in a box it would still count as one item.

Nobody talked.

Jason had a lot of things he would have liked to asked Kira or his brother Sean.

For example, there were three of them in their group, yet he had only seen two sets of footsteps instead of three.

But there was one that was the most important out of all of them.

"Kira." He began.

The boy turned to his direction.

"If you don’t mind me asking, why did you and your brother enter the A-dungeon?"

During the walk when he had been following the footsteps he had a lot of thoughts.

One of them was that both of the people he was following were originally in the "time" he was in; the A-dungeon presenting the perfect places in time where his strength was completely normal, where it was perfectly normal, and in a sense adapted to.

Since it was just a dungeon it could emulate the situations, in no way did it affect the real world. Dungeons were just sub-spaces in space-time after all.

"The A-dungeon?"

Kira was genuinely confused.

"The last time I entered a dungeon was some months ago."

He was being sincere.

"And even then, I never heard nor seen of any dungeon called the A-dungeon."

’So they didn’t come into the dungeon, but if that’s so, why wasn’t I taught about him?’

After the day he had been lectured about the world by the elder, he gradually began to receive lessons about the historical figures in the clan.

If there was really someone in the Hachiman clan that had reached rank 0 at 15 years old, why hadn’t he heard of them?!

"What date is it?"

"How would I know?" Kira responded.

Jason dropped the topic, feeling that pursuing the topic would only light the suspicion Kira had for him.

As far as he was aware, Kira didn’t trust him because he was from the same clan as him, he only stopped once "she" told him to stop.

He couldn’t pry too much without gaining their trust, otherwise it would just lead to problems.

Kira sighed.

"Does the Hachiman clan still remember us?" He questioned. "I mean the mission they sent us on. Do they still remember, or have they forgotten about it?"

Jason had no idea on what he was talking about, but considering that he had never heard of Kira before...

"No."

The boy sighed again.

"It figures, they sent us on a death mission."

Kira sighed again.

Even his brother had begun to take interest in their conversation, only the girl seemed disinterested.

"We better set up camp here, its getting late."

Jason looked up to the sky.

He didn’t notice anything different, in fact it seemed the same as when he first arrived in the dungeon.

"We’ll have to go back to the bears and skin them before we can cook them for a meal."

"Three of us will go."

"I’ll stay here."

Jason understood his intentions.

Why would he leave anyone with a stranger?

It would be dumb and illogical to do so.

Kira nodded. "You’ll stay here to watch over this place, if any monsters pass by you should do well to kill them if you can, or inform us when we get back."

"Okay..."

Jason was reluctant to tell them about his supply of food.

"...Before you go, you should know that I have some food with me."

Sean glanced at him briefly as he made his claim, his expression showed the disbelief he had for Jason’s claim.

"Just wait until we get back."

Their forms briefly disappeared, then they reappeared a good distance away. But there was a difference, this time the girl wasn’t with them.

"They didn’t believe me." Jason murmured.

"Well, I did tell them."

He scaled the large tree easily, deciding to sit on its lowest branch.

The branches of the tree were a little wider than his body, otherwise he would be worried about falling.

Jason inserted a little force into his space ring.

A large wooden crate came out of it, it appeared a foot away from him.

He proceeded to open the crate before taking out a pack from the many that were inside the crate.

As he opened it, a familiar scent wafted into his nose.

Wasting no time, he took out a utensil from the crate and devoured the food.

...

After eating four packs he was satisfied and wouldn’t need to eat any food until tomorrow morning. But now that he was done eating, he had something on his mind.

’Should I or should I not?’ He pondered.

Jason was currently contemplating on whether to throw the emptied packs onto the ground.

"Would it be counted as littering?"

In the end, he decided to put them back in the crate before storing it in his space ring.

Then, he took out another crate.

This one contained quite a few water bottles, they weren’t much, just about a few hundred. It was a large crate, but it wasn’t as large as the one containing food.

He drank the water down.

The water in the bottle soon finished and forced Jason to take out another one.

He dropped the former back in the crate and chugged down the water in the second bottle.

’When will they come back?’
