Chapter 106: Strange Ones (3)

Jason felt the nature energy in his body deplete, it was an unknown sensation.

Two exact duplicates of him appeared. The only difference between him and them was that he currently held a dagger, while his clones held no weapon.

The three dashed at the remaining three bears. Jason was attack the largest one while his clones took out the other two.

Terrible cloning was the pinnacle of human cloning techniques as the clones actually had a physical form, but the clones could only withstand a single strong attack.

Jason dashed forward, accompanied by his two duplicates.

He dodged the claw from the large monster, twisting to the side.

Then, he drove his dagger deep into the monster’s skin.

Or it was supposed to go in.

The part where he had aimed for was covered with an extremely thick amount of ice acting as armor.

His dagger could not penetrate the monster, it couldn’t even go through the ice completely.

The Ice bear roared as it turned to him.

It swung its claws, creating a pair of materialized claws.

Jason yanked his weapon out of the ice and raised it up, blocking the materialized claws with his dagger.

He pushed the monster back to create some space between them.

"Stupid weight class." He muttered.

That was the same case with the Giant Arachnid Spider, it could use its weight to make up for strength when it attacked him.

Jason and the Ice bear monster were obviously not in the same weight class, so it could pressure him. Luckily, its current strength and weight combined couldn’t completely push him back.

The monster charged at him, its large form moving quickly in the snow.

’It used an impossibly thick amount of ice to block my attack because it knew where I was aiming from, I’ll need to make my actions more discreet.’

Jason expected the monster to use its materialized claws as soon as it got into range.

It didn’t use that.

As the Ice bear got into range it opened its snout and expelled icy air, aiming at him. As the icy air came in contact with him Jason noticed something.

His body was freezing and his limbs were feeling stiff.

Jason did not bother with that, he had just been giving an opportunity and he wouldn’t waste it.

He dashed at the monster.

His motions were making it obvious that he was going to try to plunge it deep into the Ice bear’s abdomen.

The monster was aware of that but didn’t make any movements to counter, instead it only closed its mouth.

The dagger did not pierce through the monster’s abdomen. However, Jason had managed to knock the monster off its feet by hitting it full-force.

’Stupid monster.’ He thought.

Jason got on top of the Ice bear and he didn’t waste anytime.

He plunged the dagger into the vulnerable area of any bear; the tender part beneath its massive jaws, where the thick hide was slightly more vulnerable.

The monster was still reveling in the shock of getting thrown over by a human not even half its weight when it felt something sink into it.

Jason felt the satisfying resistance of bone as he twisted the dagger to ensure maximum damage.

The scarlet red blood of the monster stained its snow-white fur, making it a sharp contrast to the snow.

The Ice bear let out a thunderous cry, then began thrashing violently.

Jason knew that he didn’t have much time left to attack, he quickly pulled out the dagger from the monster and prepared to stab in between its eyes.

"P.s, your breath stinks." Jason said as he held the dagger, ready to thrust it into the monster.

Before he could do it something stopped him.

It was undeniable, it was pain that shot out through his abdomen.

Jason coughed out blood.

The Ice bear had stabbed him in the abdomen with its own claws.

The monster couldn’t even wait for him to stab first.

The large monster picked him up with its claw and threw him off it.

He fell onto the ground, feeling the unfamiliar painful sensation. This had never happened to him before.

"I hate bears." He muttered as he tried to get onto his feet. "First time was a permanent scar and the second time was a claw into the stomach."

Jason struggled to get onto his feet.

But he felt weak, weaker than he had ever felt before.

He had stabbed into the monster only to get stabbed himself. Except it was three long pointy fingers that dug into him.

Jason coughed out blood again.

He could be in worse condition right now, lying on the floor and struggling to get up only to fail every time. But his body was molded by nature energy, making it sturdier and better than it could ever had been without it.

The bear looked at him mockingly as it got up.

Its own wound didn’t affect it as much as its own attack affected Jason.

"Stupid monster."

The wound bled profusely.

"I didn’t want to use this because I wanted to test myself to the limits."

Abdominal injuries could lead to death if not taken care of, and there was no way the Ice bear in front of him would allow him to pop a healing potion into his mouth.

"But if pushing myself to the limits means dying again, I won’t risk my life."

He had experienced death before, and despite the fact that it gave him a new opportunity, he wasn’t a fan.

He looked the monster, eye-to-eye.

He activated the active state of the Null eyes.

His eyes glowed in a more intense blue.

And the Ice bear monster felt the world wrap around it.

It was no longer in the cold forest of its own kind. It was in a space, a blank space where nothing seemed to exist yet existed at the same time.

It couldn’t move its body, it couldn’t look away, it couldn’t do anything but stare.

It had been trapped in the Null.

Jason quickly deactivated the technique.

He had not only trapped the monster’s consciousness in the Null, but he had also blocked its mana.

It was completely defenseless against him.

However, his mind felt weakened. If he used it again he would surely sleep right here and now.

But he couldn’t dwell on that, his only goal was to murder the monster in front of him.

He glanced sideways and saw that both Ice bears had been dealt with, but his clones had dissipated as soon as they did the job.

Jason picked up the dagger that had fallen close to him and charged at the monster.

He leaped, plunging the weapon deep into the monster’s head, in-between both of its eyes.

Its body fell down onto the snowy ground as Jason charged into it.

He pulled his weapon out.

And then stabbed into its head again.

He pulled it out, regarding the blood-stained weapon for a brief moment, then plunged it into the monster again.

Blood flew all over, staining the snowy ground as Jason continuously stabbed the head of the Ice bear he was on top of.

Finally, he stabbed into it for the last time. Then, he stood up from his sitting position on the corpse of the monster.

He walked across it with his dagger still embedded in the Ice bear’s corpse, drawing a line over its body.

When he was done he got up and admired his work.

Satisfied, he swiped at the air with the dagger, the blood on it splatting onto the ground.

"I’m done."

He stored his weapon in his space ring before bringing out a healing potion.

Jason quickly drank its contents.

The potion worked quickly, his organs were restored to their previous condition and it was covered up.

He was tired. He fell onto his butt as he was done next to the monster’s corpse.

"My luck is so bad that I couldn’t even poison the Ice bear, even though there’s supposed to be a twenty percent chance of poisoning."

His luck was so bad that he was reborn without the ability to use mana and into a world where people would be racist towards him because of that.

"I guess that’s just my luck."

Jason sighed.

"I don’t even have the liberty to sit down because I need to find those people."

He got up, though he felt tired.

"The perfect situation where my strength isn’t enough." He murmured to himself, repeating the words of the clan guardian.

Back then he didn’t really listen to her, but now, he understood her more clearly.

He wasn’t the main character, both of them possessed different strengths and weakness.

Unfortunately for him, he was just too short-sighted to see that until now.

The snow had stopped falling from the sky, he was able to see the footprints left by both of them.

"But..."

"Even if I was given the chance to go back in time, I would still choose to enter here."
