Chapter 52: SysDi 52: Into the Highest Floor 3

Evan looks behind him, trying to see if he can see Clara at all. There was a lot of noise, from the knocking he did, the conversation that two ladies had. He wouldn’t know for sure if Clara caught wind of that.

A beat.

A second.

When he heard no footsteps at all that is walking closer to his direction, Evan sighs in relief. And then he remembered that he could just use a map.

Evan closed his eyes as he smack his forehead with his left hand as quiet as he could. How could he have forgotten that!?

"Status." Evan mutters under his breath. When the panel shows up, he sighs and added. "Map tab."

Like before, two panels showed up. The first is the fast travel option, which he ignored because he isn’t going to be using that. He focused on the one that he is actually going to use, the map of the floor he is on.

The same legends were below the map itself. There was barely any movements on the map itself. It is currently centered to himself, the blue opaque dot. And he can see that further back and away is a yellow opaque dot on the other side of the library.

If Evan’s guess is correct, that would be Clara.

It would make sense too. She isn’t exactly an ally to Evan just like Iva was. Iva, a being if some kind, is an ally so there is also a violet opaque dot following his own blue.

Interestingly enough, doors are also indicated in the map but not the rooms beyond them, at least, not all.

Evan noticed that there is a room on the same side as Clara that he can see inside of. There is a door there so it was weird that he even has access or sight on it.

Meanwhile, there is another door on the opposite way that Clara is going to. The area behind it can’t be seen, nor is there any hint of what is inside it.

The only area on the map itself that are green were the ones he had walked through and seen. The rest were red, like the legend at the map had explained.

’Oooooh! Doing the sneaky sneaky with silly Evan~’ Iva’s playful tone echoed in his head.

Evan fought the urge to groan a little. He’s not in the mood to deal with a playful Iva. ’Be very happy that I cannot summon you right now.’

Iva gasped, as if offended but it laughs. ’Why? Is it because you are going to throw me down the stairs? I can’t really go far to the bottom. Each floor has a gate remember? Besides, slime body has resistance to hard impact. I could just bounce it off.’

Evan rolls his eyes at that. He didn’t want to give Iva the satisfaction of talking back into that topic. He shifts them both back to the present. ’Anyway, do you know why certain doors I can see behind of but still red while other doors is just blank?’

Iva hums. ’Yeah, it’s the same as you’re thinking. You don’t have access to it so red, like the legend said. Doors that are unlocked, you can see the area behind, lock doors is, well, hidden.’

Evan nods his head. He turns around to face the door that he wants to get in. His eyes widened slightly at the sight.

Because the map follows where he is facing, it is now showing what is in front of him. Since the map is a top view, even without Evan being inside, he can tell what is in it.

It was as if half of the library itself was in that room. There is a staircase on the further end of the room. But there are numerous shelves of books, with what Evan could only assume as each were filled to the brim.

There’s also a bunch of people inside too. Evan had found it weird that a lot of people from the outside of the library and keeping in line but some of them were just gone, as if by the wind.

Were they all planning to get in this part of the library?

Speaking of which, the crowd of people were many inside. All of them were yellow, thankfully.

’Evan, there’s way too many people on the other side. Are you sure you can still sneak like this?’ Iva asked, most likely seeing the same thing that Evan is seeing.

Evan shrugs. ’I think it’s a good time as any. Besides, I can just use one Simulation Zone and take a peak inside, then sneak in to grab what I want or need and then leave. It’s a perfect plan.’

’Not perfect.’ Iva sighs inside his head. ’You really put the word silly on the same meaning it has for ages.’

Evan’s eyebrows furrowed at that. ’What is that supposed to mean?’

’Nothing~ it means good luck in the sneaky~’ Iva giggles.

Evan decides to ignore it. There really isn’t any other good opportunity to sneak in. There’s many people, so he can make as much noise as he reasonably could and others will just think it is some of the other patrons with them.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, picturing his intention of sneaking and scanning each books inside the forbidden room. Once the intention is clear in his head, he opens his eyes and mutters under his breath.

"Simulation Zone."

Whoosh! The familiar air blew passed his ear. With vision a little darker like always when in it and a fluidity that the Simulation Zone provides him, Evan stood at the door and floats passed it.

As soon as he did, he is face to face with an adult man, hand on the door knob as if he is about to leave the room.

That is not good. If Evan returns back after the Simulation Zone ends, he risks getting caught without even a chance to sneak in!
