Chapter 851: Chapter 389: Salvatore’s Potion
Above the dense forest in the dead of night, a sudden hurricane arose.
The sky darkened rapidly.
Clouds blinked and obscured the moonlight, birds startled and flapped away.
A visible torrential wind fell from above to the ground, breaking and throwing the surrounding branches.
Several vague, transparent human shapes gradually took form on the ground.
Before they arrived, they had ingested the "Shadow Refuge Elixir" provided by Salvatore. This elixir endowed them with the stealth abilities of a Bronze-tier stalker... although, since they hadn’t undergone special training, they still made noise when they moved.
But in the dead of night, after they had taken flight, with the aid of the night sky’s cover, their tracks were still obscured.
This was to prevent anyone from noticing Maria and her group, following their route—although Maria could fly very high, the Hunters could still see them.
With the "Shadow Refuge Elixir" though, at most they would feel "the wind picking up."
They wouldn’t see their tracks.
Watching the group slow down and gradually stand firm on the ground, Maria slowly drifted down.
She wore a thin white robe, its ends slightly tinged blue, her silvery-white hair that reached her waist floated gently, and silver dragon scales and slightly coiling dragon horns emerged on the corners of her body, twinkling faintly in the night.
These dragon scales and horns were exactly where Maria’s curse runes were located.
Other than a slight glow, there were no other reactions... this in itself suggested that the power Maria revealed was trivial to her.
The storm in the sky gradually dissipated, but the dark clouds still gathered overhead.
"If I weren’t guiding you, I could fly at four times the speed of sound on my own, and we’d have arrived by now. But since you can’t transform into wind, if I flew too fast, even if I block the external winds for you, your internal organs and brains might not withstand it..."
Maria floated down somewhat helplessly.
"...But I’ve already significantly reduced the speed, why are you still so scared of heights?"
"Ah... It’s okay. It’s probably not just a fear of heights... since you blocked the wind, Your Highness, the problem isn’t big..."
Salvatore’s voice trembled, his legs shook, his fingers quivered, his entire face turned pale, devoid of color: "This is also a kind of ’tremor.’ Just need some courage elixir and I’ll be fine..."
"Can you find where the medicine is?"
Lin Yiyi, with a helpless face, supported him: "Shall I get it for you?"
"The Courage Elixir is in position G3. It’s on the left side, two inches down from my heart, that bottle of deep red... Did you find it?"
Salvatore’s voice still trembled.
His complexion looked terrible, it was probably not just simple fear, it seemed he also felt like vomiting.
As Salvatore’s outer garment was unfolded, Maria noticed a strange chain hanging on Salvatore’s left shoulder.
It was like the strap of a waist bag, slung diagonally over Salvatore’s shoulder, adorned with many clasps. Different elixirs hung from these clasps.
Salvatore’s belt also held a series of small bottles and jars. They were all hidden on the inside of what seemed like a casual suit jacket.
Each elixir bottle looked quite small—none larger than a bottle of essential balm, containing only enough for a single dose, even less than the capacity of a water bottle cap.
Most of the bottles were flat, with a few shaped like lipstick.
These different elixirs, according to Salvatore’s classification rules, were fixed in various positions. Most were transparent glass, and the few opaque ones were labeled—each bottle was engraved with some kind of code.
This was probably so that Salvatore could find the desired medicine by touch alone, without looking.
As the strap slanted downwards, with large spaces in between, some medicines were vertically secured, not only invisible but also prevented from clinking against each other. Not to mention colliding and shattering.
"How do I take it down?"
Lin Yiyi gently tugged at it but realized she couldn’t move it — she was worried that if she used too much force, she would crush the medicine directly, so she didn’t dare to pull hard and instead asked.
"...Don’t you carry potions on your adventures?"
Salvatore was somewhat surprised.
On the side, Kafney said gloomily, "A carry-on transformation potion starts at five silver coins, and that’s not including the buckle belt. The Priest from Silver Baron would charge less than half for treating the same kind of injury. And the slightly more practical potions are traded with Gold Coins.
"Ordinary adventurers can’t possibly afford potions when they go out."
Hearing this, Salvatore fell silent for a moment.
He quietly instructed, "Grasp the medicine bottle... then rotate it counterclockwise halfway. After you hear a ’click,’ it can be removed."
"Ah, it’s off."
Lin Yiyi quickly took down the tiny vertical bottle, the size of a child’s little finger.
She directly fed it to Salvatore — though her actions were obviously not gentle, jabbing the tube into his mouth and bumping his front teeth.
"...Ah, sorry!"
"Shh...It’s okay."
After Salvatore drank the courage potion with a strong, pungent smell, his complexion visibly relaxed.
The trembling in his hands and feet also immediately stopped.
"Benjamin always talked about how to make transformations beneficial to the most people."
Salvore exclaimed, "I was aware of stuff like black fire and green fire before. Now it seems that transformation potions are also very important.
"For someone with phobias or someone who walks in dangerous places at night, having a bottle of courage potion would make them less scared. And many injuries, if treated promptly, wouldn’t get worse...
"...This gives me some inspiration. After going back, I will start researching this area."
Salvatore smiled, "In theory, transformation potions can be mass-produced. I heard that in The Holy Nation, they already have automatic sewing machines that can continuously process clothes; perhaps transformation potions could be handled similarly.
"...It’s just that there might be potion sellers who would want to assassinate me for making a living with their potions, hahaha—uh..."
As he was speaking, Salvatore suddenly retched.
He stopped Lin Yiyi from helping him and instead took another potion from his body and drank it down.
But obviously, the problem wasn’t easily solved. He drank two more different potions before he finally eased off.
"I haven’t encountered this kind of symptom before...it’s not poisoning, and mental soothing didn’t work either. It feels like my internal organs were mistreated, but what eventually took effect was the restoration potion used to dispel ’unwanted potion effects.’"
He perked up instead, "Worth noting down."
"...Could you be carsick?"
The Jiu’er hesitated for a long time before speaking softly, "Maria flew too quickly, I’m actually a bit dizzy as well..."
"Carsick?"
Salvatore was puzzled, "I clearly don’t get sick in horse carriages..."
"We’ll talk more on the way back."
Kafney interrupted the conversation, "Lord Saul needs to sleep before 3 AM to ensure the quality of his sleep, so we must head back by 2 at the latest. Don’t linger here too long."
"Then I’ll go and open the door."
Salvatore glanced at the nearby transparent membrane barrier, took a potion from his chest, and walked over.
