Chapter 76: Errorrrrrr??

Pant.

Pant.

Pant.

Mikey’s breath came out unevenly, his chest rising and falling in slow, exhausted waves. His eyes, half-lidded, remained locked on the translucent screen that hovered in front of him like a ghost.

His lips parted slightly.

’...Hmph.’

His thoughts drifted, slow and thick like molasses.

’Is that it? I... did it? I actually did it?’

He blinked. The realization settled in.

’I fucked Gina... to satisfaction. And now...’

A lazy, lopsided grin spread across his chocolate-skittish lips.

’Now I get the reward.’

He stayed there, sprawled and motionless, eyes still pinned on the glowing interface. The corners of his lips twitched upward further as warmth swelled in his chest.

’I finally did it... I redeemed myself....hehe.’

His fingers twitched slightly. His expression, still plastered with satisfaction, softened even more as he chuckled under his breath.

Then slowly, he pushed himself upward. The sheets whispered against his skin as he adjusted himself on the bed. His limbs felt heavy, but light with accomplishment. As he moved, a voice called out—soft, almost hesitant.

"Mmmm..."

His head turned.

Gina’s voice.

He met her eyes.

She lay on her side, barely covered by the sheet. Her silver hair was messy, her pale skin flushed in a soft pink hue.

She looked... different. Not like the commanding elf queen from before. Her pride, the once-mighty presence of the royal elf princess—no, queen—was nowhere to be found.

What he saw now was a woman laid bare, stripped of status and stubbornness. Her gaze held no defiance. Only a fragile innocence.

She looked at him like she was trying to understand what she’d become. Like she wasn’t sure whether to be ashamed or grateful.

And Mikey... he felt it.

’I destroyed her... in a good way.’

Her voice pulled him back.

"You’re... leaving?" she asked, her fingers curling around his wrist.

He looked at her hand, then back at her face. His throat tightened a little.

He nodded slightly.

"Yeah... I gotta be somewhere."

"But..." Her voice wavered. She didn’t finish the sentence.

Instead, she lowered her gaze, pulling her hand back. Her fingers clenched weakly against the sheets.

Her face... it was flushed. Her lips trembled slightly.

Mikey saw it. He felt it. She didn’t want him to leave.

And yet she still tried to act unbothered.

She glanced up at him, her voice soft.

"You don’t... you don’t have to explain. If you have something important to do, it’s fine. You can leave... if you want to."

Her eyes met his, only briefly. But in that glance, he saw everything.

’ Hmm...She doesn’t want me to go... but she doesn’t want to beg either.’

And it hit him. That pang of guilt. That emotional pull he never thought he’d feel for her.

"Do you want me to stay? Why don’t you just say it?"

But instead of saying it, she looked away.

He sighed through his nose, jaw clenching slightly.

Then she whispered,

"Does it matter?" Her voice was brittle.

"You don’t want to be with me... do you?" she asked, voice cracking a little.

"You just came for the sex. That’s all."

Her gaze dropped to the sheets.

"It’s okay. If you want to leave... just go."

Mikey closed his eyes.

He drew in a long breath.

He stood, silent, then moved toward her. The mattress shifted slightly under his weight.

Then, without a word, he knelt by the bed beside her.

He reached out, his hand brushing against her cheek gently. The pad of his thumb traced her flushed skin.

Her eyes widened a little.

"Hey..." he said quietly, voice low.

"Don’t say that."

She looked away, biting her lip.

"I do care about you." he said.

"Bullshit." she snapped, blinking rapidly.

He shook his head. "I do," he muttered again, softer this time.

"And I’m here to stay, okay?" His voice trembled just slightly.

"I’m never going to leave you."

His hand cupped her cheek, his thumb brushing beneath her eye.

Their eyes locked.

"You hear me?" he whispered.

"I’m being real. I’m never going to leave you."

Her voice was a breath.

"Promise?"

He smiled, just a little, but it was confident.

"I promise."

The air stilled.

But before he could lean in, before anything more could be said—everything shifted.

The light vanished.

The warmth around him evaporated.

His entire world was swallowed by darkness.

He gasped—once, sharply—as a cold jolt shot down his spine.

Darkness.

Everything was black.

It wasn’t like before. Usually after a completed mission, he’d get pulled to the system menu.

But this?

This felt... off.

’Am I being paranoid?’ he thought, floating in nothingness.

’Why does it feel... wrong?’

Suddenly, a loud chime rang.

A message.

The screen appeared abruptly in front of him. The text blinked in bold red letters:

[ERROR. ERROR. SYSTEM ERROR. SYSTEM ERROR.]

’What the hell?’ Mikey’s eyes widened.

’What’s going on?!’

His heart pounded.

’Why the hell is the system saying ’Error’? What the hell does that mean?!’

But before he could say anything else, it all shattered.

The darkness peeled away like paper being torn.

Another loud gasp tore from his throat as his body jerked upright.

Light.

His eyes flickered open.

Breath labored. His body cold with sweat.

He looked around.

He was back, back in his real room, his actual room.

He looked at the ceiling, then the walls.

Everything looked normal. He was still in the app. Still connected.

No sign of the Error message.

He stared at the screen, still panting lightly.

"What the hell was that just now?"

But then—he noticed something.

His heart skipped.

’...Huh?...Feet.’

There were... feet on the bed.

Not his.

Small. Pale. Feminine.

They were right beside him.

His breath caught in his throat.

He slowly, hesitantly turned around.

His eyes traveled up... legs... hips...

Curves.

Hips soft and full, a smooth waist leading to the delicate dip of a back.

His eyes reached the face—

And his jaw dropped.

"G... Gina?"

She was there.

In his bed.

In the real world.

The elf queen herself.

Naked. Glowing. Sleeping softly beside him.

Mikey’s mouth hung open.

"What the fu—"
