Chapter 53: The Club(1)
Chapter 53
With a gentle whoosh, Angela turned over to Mikey with a soft laugh. Her head tilted just slightly, as her lips curled in amusement, her eyes settled right on him.
"You seem lost in your thoughts....what’re you thinking?" she muttered softly.
Mikey blinked, as if pulled out of a deep trance, his thoughts swirling for a moment before he found his focus. His gaze flicked back to her, a hint of surprise in his eyes, momentarily lost in the soft warmth of her presence.
"Oh—uh." He stuttered.
"I was just thinking of..."
As his words spilled out, his mind raced uncontrollably, each thought tumbling over the other in a chaotic blur.
’Say something cool, man. Just ease the mood. Compliment her or something. Let her loosen up.’
And then it hit him, the perfect response—
"...well...how beautiful you looked tonight in that exquisite dress."
As she listened, the soft glow of the streetlight gently illuminated her face. Her smile faltered for a moment, the corners of her lips tugging down ever so slightly.
"Thank you." she said, her voice low, and sincere.
"You look quite handsome too."
It caught him off guard, unexpected but not unpleasant. Maybe it was because he’d been lost in his own thoughts earlier, or maybe it was the way her words lingered in the air, but right then—right in that moment—Mikey truly saw himself. His appearance, the way he stood there, suddenly became all too real to him, and for the first time, he couldn’t help but notice how different everything felt.
’Damn... I do look kinda good tonight.’
He glanced down quickly, his eyes tracing the lines of his fitted suit. The fabric clung to his frame with a sleek, slim design that accentuated his build in a way he hadn’t noticed before. The suit, with its subtle decorations, fit him just right, as if it had been tailored to enhance every curve and angle.
His skin, usually a shade of dullness he didn’t think twice about, now appeared vibrant—smooth, almost radiant, with a faint glow that caught the light. It was a stark contrast to his usual tone, as if he’d been washed in something new, something fresh.
’Guess this isn’t bad... No, that’s way too modest. I look foine...’
His glance flickered back at her, meeting her soft lingering smile.
’...which means...she’s totally falling for my charms. This was meant to be easy.’
Mikey, with a slow, deliberate movement, dipped his hand into his pocket, his fingers brushing against the fabric as he came to a gradual stop. His pace slowed, the moment hanging between them. As if sensing the change, she mirrored him, her footsteps halting softly as her eyes shifted to him, curiosity flickering in them, waiting for him to make his next move.
"Huh? Why’d you stop?" Angela said, a pinch of concern etched in her voice.
He paused, the silence stretching for only a brief moment, his mind racing with thoughts.
’...I need to play this right...I need to make whatever I say next seem refreshing. Open. Honest....so, first things first, I have no fucking clue where I am right now, so the best thing to do is...’
He muttered gently, his tone soft and firm.
"Honestly... At first, I just wanted to pick you up on a date, you know? Pay for your meal, talk about work... have a good time. But.... In truth... I feel like that’s kind of basic." He lifted his gaze to hers, asserting his gaze to seem more believable.
"...And someone like you deserves something better than basic."
She paused, a soft tilt to her head, her eyes narrowing slightly in curiosity. Her lips curled upward once more, this time with a hint of something playful.
"...Ohh, uh,um...So what do you have in mind then, since you don’t want to give me something... basic?"
Mikey tucked his other hand into his pocket, meeting her gaze with calm confidence.
"Actually... I was thinking you could cover that." He muttered as a smile tugged at his lips.
"Anywhere you want to go, just say the word and we’ll go there."
She blinked slowly, her gaze lingering on him for a moment. A brief silence followed as her eyes seemed to search hi.
"I don’t think—" Angela started but Mikey cut in gently, stepping closer, as his expression a bit more serious.
"I know....but...I just want to give you a good time. I want to make tonight a night you’ll never forget. So, you can say anything...I don’t know, something you haven’t done before, maybe. Anywhere. Anything. I’ve got it covered for tonight."
She looked at him with a softened expression, a flicker of something unreadable passing through her eyes. There was a hint of confusion still lingering, as if she was piecing together thoughts that didn’t quite align.
"That’s really gentlemanly of you." she said quietly.
"But honestly... I don’t mind going on a regular date."
Mikey smiled faintly as his hand gently scratched his head.
"Yeah, I know. But still... I insist." His voice dropped a little, tone firmer but still calm.
"Don’t leave me hanging. Like I said, I’m here to give you the best time."
She didn’t answer right away. Her eyes flickered down to the pavement as the crowd passed around them, the low chatter of the evening city brushing through their silence.
She seemed to be calculating her thoughts. Her fingers moved slowly behind her back, and then her eyes returned to his. Their gazes locked.
"Are you sure?" she asked softly.
Mikey only gave her a nod, still radiating a confidence filled aura.
"Yeah."
Her lips pressed together for a second, then parted again as she said.
"I think I have somewhere in mind."

Step
Step
Step
Mikey’s steps sounded upon the concrete walkway of the city, along with Angela’s until there was an unpromptly pause.
Angela turned around to face him with a soft bounce in her steps, hands clasped behind her back and a bright smile painted across her lips. She looked excited, hopeful even.
"This is the place." she added as she gestured beyond her.
Mikey’s eyes moved past her slowly. They settled on what was behind her, what stood illuminated in flashing lights.
"...The Deli." he read aloud, eyes narrowing.
The Neon lights glowed above the building, casting sharp blue and pink reflections on the pavement.
The building stood as a striking fusion of sleek, contemporary design and bold, modern aesthetics. Its sharp angles and glass panels gleamed under the streetlights, exuding an air of sophistication. A steady line of people wound around the entrance, all eagerly awaiting their turn to face the imposing bouncer stationed at the door—his massive frame a clear barrier between the crowd and the allure of what lay inside.
’A club. She’s brought me to a club
’ He pondered inwardly.
’Of course she’s a club girl. A bimbo and a club girl. Everything’s going my way!’
He forced a forced chuckle out his lips and returned his eyes back to her.
"This is where you want to go?"
Angela lifted her brows, straightening her posture.
"What? Surprised?"
"...No, I just..." He rubbed the back of his neck slightly.
"Yeah, I guess. I didn’t peg you as a club girl."
She grinned as a werely chuckle escaped her lips.
"What? You’ve never been to a club before?" Her tone was teasing, almost mischievous.
"If you don’t want to we could ditch it...’cause it can get really crazy."
Mikey paused for a moment, his eyes still locked at hers as a thousand thoughts swirled in his mind.
’ Yeah...This is most definitely a test. She’s testing me... trying to see if I can handle the club life. A bimbo’s first test.’
He sighed softly, a firm smile tugging in his lips.
’She’s playing smart... but still...even if she’s a bimbo or a dummy, I have to avoid fucking this gold platter mission up.’
’ Hmmm... so think... she could be testing me to find out how dependable I could be.’
The issue was not in how well he could relate with her. Rather it was dependent on how well his character could pull up. For one, the first issue was, could he afford the ticket, and getting in? He was rich, and all, but there was a possibility that he wouldn’t be aware of how to access his wealth following the stories rules.
So, he paused, his eyes flickering over to her, his hand slipping into his coat pocket. He could feel the reassuring bulge of his wallet, confirming that, yes, he did have the means.
As he steadied himself, his gaze shifted back to her. Mikey knew one thing for sure—he had to play it cool. No matter what happened, he couldn’t afford a misstep. Not a single one. Even if he was just a bumbling mess, he had to keep his cool, make it look effortless. He took a breath, exhaling with just the right amount of calm before muttering.
"Well...Trust me, I can be pretty crazy."
And so, into the club they went.
