Chapter 997: Nine hundred ninety-five, scrambling for
The shopkeeper and the mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator snapped back to reality.
"Speak, how do you plan to handle this?" The mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator coldly demanded.
"I’ll exchange the elixir for you and refund your money," the shopkeeper said. This was how they usually resolved such matters in the past.
"I disagree! That woman must also be a disciple of the Liangyi Sect, right? Have her compensate me with two pills of the same elixir she just used, or this matter won’t end here," the mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator said, pointing at Luo Shu.
"This..." The shopkeeper frowned awkwardly. He didn’t know the other party, and even if he did, he had no authority to demand someone hand over their elixirs.
"If you refuse, I’ll smash up this store today," the mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator threatened in a deep voice.
"She’s not one of our staff; I have no authority to make her hand over any elixirs to compensate you. If you want to smash things, go ahead! But don’t forget, this is the territory of the Liangyi Sect. If you destroy our shop, the Liangyi Sect won’t just let it slide," the shopkeeper said defiantly. The other party was clearly targeting the female cultivator’s elixirs, but really, what was she thinking bringing out such a precious item? She was practically asking for trouble.
"You think I won’t dare?" As he spoke, the mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator strode toward a nearby display cabinet.
Just as he was about to act, he suddenly felt an overwhelming pressure bearing down on him. Startled, he quickly retreated several steps and looked toward the source of the pressure.
He saw Lu Hanmo staring at him with cold, piercing eyes. A chill raced up from his feet, making him shiver uncontrollably. "S-Senior... I was wrong. I don’t want compensation anymore... Please, have mercy..." The silent male cultivator who had been standing there turned out to be a powerhouse. He couldn’t discern Lu Hanmo’s cultivation, but he was certain he was no match for him.
"Leave." Lu Hanmo’s voice was icy.
Hearing Lu Hanmo’s words, the mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator didn’t dare utter another word. He fled the Elixir Pavilion in a flustered panic, as if his life depended on it—terrified that Lu Hanmo might change his mind.
Watching the cultivator leave, the shopkeeper heaved a sigh of relief, then stepped forward and cupped his fists toward Lu Hanmo. "Thank you, senior!" Was he really a newly recruited disciple? How could someone be this powerful?
Lu Hanmo nodded slightly, then reached out to grab Luo Shu’s hand and led her toward the door.
Zhao Longfei and Xu Yangji hurriedly followed behind them, their eyes filled with admiration for Lu Hanmo. If only one day they could be as awe-inspiring as Junior Brother Lu!
The shopkeeper exhaled a long breath and turned toward his assistant. "You’re really lucky to still have your life."
"It’s all thanks to them. Otherwise, I’d already be dead. Who would’ve thought these new disciples from the Sea Realm would be so impressive?" the assistant said with relief. Just moments ago, he had truly believed he was doomed.
"They’re really from the Sea Realm?" The shopkeeper was incredulous. How could such powerful cultivators come from the Sea Realm?
"Absolutely. I saw the Sixth Elder personally bring them here that day. They’re currently staying at West Moon Peak," the assistant said confidently.
After leaving the Elixir Pavilion, Luo Shu and the others wandered around the market for a while before returning to the sect.
Entering the Mountain Protection Array, the group headed toward West Moon Peak.
Three disciples of the sect walked toward them from the opposite direction, brushing past as they crossed paths.
"Wait a moment!" A female cultivator among them called out to Luo Shu’s group.
The four stopped and looked at her with surprise.
"You’re the disciples from the Sea Realm, right?" the female cultivator asked.
"Yes, Senior Sister!" Zhao Longfei immediately answered, though he felt a bit uneasy, wondering why she had called out to them.
"You must be Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo?" The female cultivator continued after seeing them nod. "I’m Fang Qing, the senior sister of the Formation Pavilion. After you pass the assessment, you should definitely choose our Formation Pavilion." She had heard that these two newcomers were exceptional talents. If the Formation Pavilion could recruit them, they’d surely shine in the monthly competitions.
"Thank you, Senior Sister!" Luo Shu replied with a polite smile.
Noticing that Luo Shu didn’t commit to anything, Fang Qing smiled. "We’ll take our leave then. But don’t forget—make the Formation Pavilion your first choice."
With that, she turned and left with the other two disciples.
"The gap between people is really something. You haven’t even passed the assessment yet, and everyone’s already fighting to recruit you. When we pass, we’ll probably have to work hard to convince someone to take us," Xu Yangji lamented, shaking his head.
"I’m truly feeling defeated," Zhao Longfei said with a wry smile. "I’d better go back and focus on cultivating!"
Xu Yangji nodded in agreement. "Even if we can’t match Junior Brother Lu and Junior Sister Luo, we can’t afford to fail the assessment. From today on, I’ll go into seclusion and only come out for the test."
"Let’s go then! Work hard together." Zhao Longfei patted Xu Yangji on the shoulder, heading toward West Moon Peak.
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo exchanged smiles and followed the two.
As they arrived at West Moon Peak, they noticed two young men and women waiting there.
Upon seeing Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, the duo quickly approached.
"You must be Junior Brother Lu and Junior Sister Luo? We’re disciples from the Alchemy Pavilion. He’s the senior brother of the Alchemy Pavilion, Hua Yuan, and I’m Chu Zhiruo. We came today hoping that after the assessment, you’ll join the Alchemy Pavilion," Chu Zhiruo said with a smile, looking at Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo.
"Senior Brother Hua and Junior Sister Zhiruo are quite fast." A gentle voice sounded.
Three men approached. The one leading them had a pair of deep blue eyes as vast as the ocean. On his extraordinarily handsome face, his gaze was particularly striking.
As the three walked up to them, the leader spoke. "I’m Gu Xuechen from the Artifact Refining Pavilion. Junior Brother Lu, Junior Sister Luo, greetings."
"Junior Brother Lu, Junior Sister Luo, you’re also welcome to join our Talisman Crafting Pavilion," said a cheerful voice as two men approached. The speaker was a handsome young man.
"Brother Su Chenche!" Chu Zhiruo greeted him with a sweet smile.
"Junior Sister Zhiruo!" Su Chenche nodded at her with a smile before turning to Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo. "Junior Brother Lu, Junior Sister Luo, how about joining our Talisman Crafting Pavilion?"
"Brother Su, we were here first, so you can’t cut ahead," Hua Yuan said with a smile.
"Get in line," Gu Xuechen lightly teased with a grin.
"This isn’t about who came first; it’s about who Junior Brother Lu and Junior Sister Luo choose. Don’t you agree?" Su Chenche grinned at Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, awaiting their decision.
Zhao Longfei and Xu Yangji both sighed and shook their heads as they returned to their rooms. It was better to focus on cultivating. Some things just weren’t worth envying. Besides, if it were them in Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo’s place, they’d probably have a hard time deciding too.
