Spoiled By the Young Master After Reborn In the 80s
Chapter 996 - 994, Elixir Pavilion

Chapter 996: 994, Elixir Pavilion

The four of them arrived at the foot of the mountain and found that the Liangyi Sect’s marketplace was not small. Compared to Green Cloud City in the Sea Realm, it wasn’t much smaller either. Middle Planes truly were different.

After walking around the marketplace for a while, the four asked an Outer Sect Disciple and learned that most of the elixirs, magical treasures, and talismans sold here were made by disciples within the sect. This revealed the stark difference between Inner Sect and Outer Sect disciples. Inner Sect disciples could receive cultivation resources once a month, and they could sell the items they refined or no longer needed in the marketplace. Outer Sect disciples, however, weren’t afforded such privileges and had to struggle for their cultivation resources and lodging fees.

Walking into an Elixir Pavilion, Luo Shu wanted to take a look at the prices of elixirs here.

"You’re new disciples from the Earth Realm, aren’t you?" The shop assistant smiled at the four as he spoke. He, too, lived on West Moon Peak, and on the day they arrived, he was coincidentally on break, so he saw them.

"Senior Brother, how many years have you been in the Liangyi Sect?" Zhao Longfei asked. Seeing that this person’s cultivation was slightly higher than his but still relegated to being a shop assistant, Zhao couldn’t help but wonder if he might meet the same fate in the future.

"Nearly thirty years now." The shop assistant replied. He still remembered the joy and excitement from when he first became a sect disciple—so much so that he couldn’t sleep that night. Back then, he believed that with enough effort, he would one day become an Inner Sect Disciple. But after countless assessments and failures, he had come to accept his fate. Although being a shop assistant was exhausting, it made life fulfilling. At least he could still claim the title of Sect Disciple.

"Are the assessments that difficult?" Xu Yangji asked in surprise. After all, this person had been in the Liangyi Sect for thirty years, meaning he’d gone through numerous assessments.

"Difficult!" The shop assistant nodded. If they weren’t, how could he have repeatedly failed?

Xu Yangji and Zhao Longfei frowned. Would they be able to pass?

"Don’t worry. As long as you put in the effort, you’ll definitely see results." Luo Shu said to comfort them. Though Xu Yangji and Zhao Longfei’s strength wasn’t much different from the shop assistant’s, their natural aptitudes were decent. With genuine effort in cultivation, it was still possible for them to pass the assessments.

Xu Yangji nodded, glancing enviously at Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo. "If only we could be like you two."

Luo Shu chuckled and walked toward the display cabinet with Lu Hanmo. While innate talent was indeed important, consistent effort was the most crucial factor—without it, even the best talent goes to waste.

After glancing at the elixir prices, Luo Shu found that they weren’t particularly expensive. Compared to similar elixirs sold in the Immortal Ship Trading House, the price difference here was as vast as heaven and earth.

"What kind of fake elixirs are you selling? They’re completely useless!" An irate voice came from the entrance.

Turning to look, they saw a burly Mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator walking in, his face full of fury.

"Honored guest! The elixirs in our Elixir Pavilion are authentic. Could there possibly be some misunderstanding?" The shop assistant, who had just been speaking to them, forced a smile and stepped forward.

"Misunderstanding my ass!" The Mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator raised his hand and slapped the shop assistant, sending him flying.

The shop assistant hadn’t expected the other person to throw hands, and he was sent hurtling through the air, spewing a mouthful of blood before fainting on the ground.

"Immortal friend, isn’t that a bit excessive?!" Zhao Longfei glared at the Mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator angrily.

"Excessive? They sell fake medicines—that’s not excessive?" The Mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator sneered.

"Even so, you shouldn’t resort to violence." Zhao Longfei took a few steps back, fearing the man might turn his aggression toward him next.

"Are you one of their assistants, too?" The Mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator asked in a deep voice.

"No, I just don’t like what I see." Zhao Longfei stammered. He was determined to pass the assessments and absolutely couldn’t end up a shop assistant here.

"If you’re not, then get lost! Where’s the person in charge here?" The Mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator shouted loudly.

"I’m here. What’s the matter, honored guest?" The shopkeeper came forward and frowned as he glanced at the injured assistant on the ground. For someone to act so brazenly in the Liangyi Sect’s marketplace, they must have some kind of backing. It seemed the shop assistant was crippled now—such severe injuries would require a Level Five Healing Elixir to recover, but with his meager earnings, how could he possibly afford one?

"I bought a fake medicine from your shop. What do you plan to do about it?" The Mid-stage Senior Immortal cultivator asked coldly. Perhaps venting his anger earlier had calmed him down somewhat.

"Let me take a look." The shopkeeper took the medicine bottle, opened it, examined its contents, and sniffed it. "This medicine isn’t fake; it’s just mislabeled." Such instances occasionally happened in their shop, so every batch of elixirs was scrupulously inspected. However, given the large volume of elixirs, some mistakes couldn’t be avoided.

Luo Shu walked over to the shop assistant, tilted his face up to open his mouth, and placed an elixir inside.

"Junior Sister Luo, will he survive?" Zhao Longfei asked anxiously. Although Luo Shu had already given him an elixir, the shop assistant appeared to have had his dantian severely damaged. In the Immortal Realm, losing one’s cultivation was a fate worse than death.

"He’ll survive," Luo Shu nodded. The Mid-stage Senior Immortal’s slap had been merciless, directly shattering the shop assistant’s dantian.

"But can it be restored?" Zhao Longfei pressed. In his heart, he didn’t hold much hope—after all, a shattered dantian was no ordinary injury. Even a Level Six Healing Elixir might not suffice.

Before Luo Shu could reply, the shop assistant lying on the ground had already opened his eyes.

The shop assistant felt his body; the scorching pain of moments ago had disappeared, replaced by a soothing coolness. He looked at Luo Shu gratefully and said, "Thank you!" Though he had passed out, his consciousness had remained clear, and he knew who had fed him the medicine.

"Are you feeling better?" Seeing the improving complexion of the shop assistant, both Zhao Longfei and Xu Yangji were astonished.

"Yes!" The shop assistant nodded. He had thought he was doomed this time, but he hadn’t expected this newly arrived Junior Sister to have such a miraculous elixir.

Standing up, he bowed deeply to Luo Shu. "I will work hard to earn money and repay you." With that, he ran over to the counter and quickly scribbled something on a piece of paper, pressing his handprint onto it as well.

Clutching the piece of paper, he ran back to Luo Shu and handed it to her. "This is my IOU. I know that elixir is likely something I could never afford in this lifetime, but I swear I’ll work hard to repay you."

"Alright." Luo Shu smiled as she accepted the paper. She hadn’t expected him to actually repay her, but his attitude greatly pleased her. To her, a Level Seven Healing Elixir was a price worth paying to save his life.
