Chapter 992: Nine hundred and ninety, Hong Star
The elders had arrived, and the disciples of Sky Water Sect were unsure whether they should continue challenging on stage.
Everyone exchanged uneasy glances until one of the disciples asked hesitantly, "Elder! Should we continue with the challenges?"
"All of you, return to your quarters!" the elder commanded in a stern voice.
"Yes!" None of the disciples dared to disobey. They swiftly ran back to the sect’s residence. Judging by the elder’s expression, it seemed trouble was awaiting them.
Ling Xiyu withdrew his long spear and glanced at Luo Shu before stepping forward to follow the rest of the disciples. After the earlier battle, he understood the gap between himself and Luo Shu. It became clear to him that Mo Lhan’s defeat against Luo Shu was inevitable.
Feng Jianyou retracted his gaze and began walking toward his own quarters. There was undoubtedly a secret hidden within Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo.
As the disciples of Sky Water Sect retreated, the onlookers sighed in disappointment and dispersed. They had come expecting a riveting battle but left feeling let down.
Luo Shu stepped off the stage. Following the commotion, no one was in the mood for strolling around anymore, so everyone returned to their rooms to continue cultivating.
The Immortal Ship glided steadily through the void. Upon approaching a crimson planet, the ship came to a halt once more.
"The Immortal Ship will remain anchored at Hong Star for the next two days. Interested cultivators may disembark to explore," announced the ship’s broadcast system once again.
"Whenever the Immortal Ship stops, it’s bound to be near something good. Let’s form a team and go together!"
"Can I join your team too? Is that okay?"
"Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go!" A group of cultivators drinking at a nearby table set down their chopsticks and cups, standing up to leave the tavern.
Other cultivators quickly grouped up as well, and hurried out the establishment. The Star Devouring Butterfly had eluded them on the last expedition; let’s see if their luck improves this time!
Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo were playing with their two babies. Despite being only three years old, the babies had already cultivated to Spirit Division Mid Stage. Their height, too, was more akin to that of five-year-olds.
"Let’s visit Hong Star as well," Luo Shu suggested after hearing the announcement. She believed that to grow stronger, one must constantly temper oneself. Opportunities came to those who were prepared.
"Alright!" Lu Hanmo nodded. As long as Shushu was happy, he was willing to follow her anywhere like a shadow.
After sending the babies back into their own space, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo exited their room.
As they stepped out the door, the adjacent room’s door opened simultaneously.
"I was just about to call you," Xiao Yao remarked with a grin, seeing Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo in the hallway.
"We heard the broadcast and came out. Let’s go ask Ye Lifeng if he wants to join us to explore Hong Star," Luo Shu suggested.
Just as Luo Shu finished her sentence, Ye Lifeng’s voice rang out, "We’re here!" Clearly, they had come over specifically to invite Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo to explore Hong Star together.
When the group arrived on the deck, the Immortal Ship’s Formation Restrictions had already been lifted.
Unleashing their Flying Swords, they flew through the Formation Restrictions and quickly spotted the crimson planet looming before them.
As they landed on its surface, the landscape was starkly barren—a wasteland devoid of vegetation, with only jagged rocks and deep gorges stretching endlessly.
"Is there really treasure here?" Ye Lifeng asked as his gaze swept over the desolate surroundings, his face full of disappointment. All he saw was crimson rocks and countless chasms that plunged into the earth.
Lu Hanmo extended his Divine Sense outward, gradually scanning the area. Within one of the gorges, he noticed a stream of blood-red liquid winding its way below.
"There’s red liquid flowing in the gorge. I’ll use my Divine Sense to pull some up for examination," Lu Hanmo said. He quickly formed a vortex with his Divine Sense and brought forth a small portion of the red liquid.
"It’s so sticky! It feels like blood," Ye Lifeng commented as he reached out to touch the liquid, bringing it to his nose for a sniff. "It really smells like blood too."
"This appears to be actual blood," Luo Shu concluded after a careful observation. From the moment they set foot on the planet, her space companions—Xiao Qing, Long Jing, and members of the Dragon Clan—had all ceased their cultivation. If it weren’t for her resolute control, they would have rushed out already. Clearly, this planet held something connected to the Dragon Clan; otherwise, they wouldn’t be reacting so strongly.
"Could this be from humans or Immortal Beasts?" Yun Han asked.
Luo Shu shook her head. "Let’s investigate further before jumping to conclusions."
The group chose a direction and started walking forward. They dared not stray too far since the Immortal Ship was only stationed for two days; venturing too deep might mean missing the return.
After walking for most of the day, their surroundings remained unchanged—rocks and a tangled network of gorges.
"This wandering is probably fruitless. Why don’t we explore inside one of the gorges?" suggested Xiao Yao.
"Good idea!" everyone agreed.
Lu Hanmo scanned the area with his Divine Sense and selected a gorge to descend into, leading the group down.
The gorge was unfathomably deep. It took more than ten minutes before they finally landed in a pool of sticky, blood-red liquid, its heavy metallic scent nauseating them.
Lu Hanmo held Luo Shu in his arms, lifting her from the crimson pool as he surveyed the area again before unleashing his Divine Sense for further exploration.
"There’s a Shielding Array ahead," Lu Hanmo remarked. Without his formidable Divine Sense and expertise in formations, discovering such a concealed array would have been nearly impossible.
Ye Lifeng’s eyes lit up with excitement. "There must be something good inside! Let’s check it out!"
Lu Hanmo nodded and guided the group towards the Shielding Array. The gorge was narrow, allowing only two people to walk side by side.
"Put me down, I can walk by myself!" Luo Shu protested, lightly pounding Lu Hanmo’s chest and squirming to free herself. Being carried in front of so many people embarrassed her.
"Behave," Lu Hanmo replied, giving her a light smack on the hip while maintaining his stride forward.
Luo Shu shot him an annoyed glare, blushing deeply as she buried her face against his chest. Though Lu Hanmo’s actions were subtle and out of view from others, such intimate behavior in public unsettled her. This man was growing increasingly bold!
After walking for more than half a shichen, Lu Hanmo finally halted and gently set Luo Shu down before taking out his Formation Flags.
As the Formation Flags landed, a Stone Door materialized before them.
Stepping closer, Lu Hanmo pressed a raised stone protrusion beneath the door.
With a grinding sound of "ka ka ka!" the Stone Door slowly began to rise upward.
Once fully lifted, the group entered the space beyond the door.
Inside was a massive, hollowed-out stone cavern, pitch dark except for the occasional sound of dripping water echoing in the silence.
Lu Hanmo scanned the cavern with his Divine Sense and discovered multiple smaller pathways and stone chambers. One particular pathway contained a stream of red liquid flowing like a narrow brook.
"Let’s follow that one," Lu Hanmo suggested, holding Luo Shu’s hand as he led her toward the path with flowing red liquid.
The rest of the group hurried to follow closely.
