Chapter 97: Ninety-six, settle accounts

The process of buying the house went very smoothly. In those days, there was no real estate certificate, so as long as both parties reached an agreement and registered it at the Public Security Office, that was all it took.

When the old man returned to the house in Black Clothes Alley, he walked into the house and came back out carrying a box, "Girl, from now on, this house and everything in it is yours. I hope you will protect them well."

"Don’t worry, Grandpa Ning! I will definitely protect them," Luo Shu nodded and promised. Old people tend to be sentimental, and perhaps every plant and tree in the house could stir up their memories.

"Alright, I won’t say much more. We’ll meet again if it’s meant to be," Ning Moyao said with a smile, waving at Luo Shu as he carried the box and walked away.

"Let me see you out, Grandpa Ning," Luo Shu stepped forward and reached out to take the box from Ning Moyao’s hands. The moment she took the box, she hesitated and inadvertently let the box fall to the ground. The box, seemingly not heavy, actually weighed about four to five hundred pounds.

Looking at Ning Moyao in surprise, she knew he was not an ordinary person, but she hadn’t expected him to be an Ancient Martial Artist. With the weight of the box, no one but an Ancient Martial Artist could lift it, much less carry it with such ease as he did.

Ning Moyao smiled and picked up the box from the ground, "Girl, there are many things in this world that you cannot imagine right now. But I believe that one day, you too will reach that level." When he had first met her, he had sensed that she was extraordinary, and she also had the surname Luo.

Looking at the box, Luo Shu apologized, "I am very sorry, Grandpa Ning! I hope nothing inside got damaged?"

"It’s okay, no need to see me off. I can walk on my own," Ning Moyao smiled and glanced at Luo Shu before stepping forward and walking ahead.

"Until next time, Grandpa Ning!" Luo Shu watched as Ning Moyao disappeared into the depths of the alley, then turned around and went back to the courtyard.

After looking over the house inside and out, Luo Shu revealed a satisfied smile. This was her place now, she finally had a home of her own.

With her mood lifted, she walked out of the house and looked at Fu Yi and Qian Wei sitting in the courtyard, waiting for her. "Let’s go check on Lin Yu." It was also time to settle the score with Lin Yu for good.

Lin Yu slowly opened her eyes and saw the dilapidated ceiling, instantly remembering her predicament. A look of terror crossed her face; she looked around and saw that the cattle shed was empty. She breathed a sigh of relief.

Moving her hands and feet, Lin Yu couldn’t help but cry out in pain. Because they had been tied up with rope for so long, they were now numb and sore, and she couldn’t move at all.

After getting used to it a little, Lin Yu used the strength of her back to slowly sit up against the wall. She was now thirsty, hungry, and scared. But she knew that even if she screamed, no one would come to save her. Because there were only farmlands within a ten-mile radius, and no people, which was why they hadn’t even bothered to gag her.

There came a sound of footsteps from outside, then the wooden door of the cattle shed was pushed open.

Lin Yu was startled and quickly looked up, only to see Luo Shu standing at the doorway, looking at her with a cold sneer, "Luo Shu?" So it was really her who had tied her up and brought her here.

Luo Shu stepped slowly towards Lin Yu, looking down at her from above, "You should be familiar with this place, shouldn’t you?"

"Luo Shu, I was wrong! Please let me go! I apologize to you! Please, have mercy on me!" Lin Yu leaned forward, prostrating herself in front of Luo Shu, pleadingly looking up at her. She truly regretted provoking Luo Shu now.

Had she agreed to let Luo Shu treat Yifan’s illness from the beginning, perhaps Yifan would have awoken by now. Ma Zhenhai wouldn’t have divorced her, the Lin Family wouldn’t have met such a downfall, and her siblings wouldn’t see her as an enemy.

She had persistently believed that it was all Luo Shu’s fault. She blamed Luo Shu for everything, wishing her a life worse than death, wanting to put her in mortal danger. Only now did she realize that it was all her own doing.

From the start, she was too obsessed, convinced that Luo Shu, like those charlatans who had deceived her before, was only out to swindle her family’s money, and that she couldn’t possibly cure Yifan’s illness. Sadly, she realized this too late. Luo Shu surely wouldn’t be willing to treat Yifan anymore, Ma Zhenhai definitely wouldn’t remarry her, and all the members of the Lin Family certainly wouldn’t forgive her again.

"Give me one reason to spare you," Luo Shu said mockingly as she looked at Lin Yu. If everyone could be forgiven just by apologizing after doing something wrong, then why would we need the Public Security Office?

Lin Yu was suddenly at a loss for words. Indeed, after she had done so much to hurt Luo Shu, what right did she have to ask for Luo Shu’s forgiveness? But she didn’t want to die either!

Luo Shu crouched down, her cold gaze piercing Lin Yu, "I heard from those human traffickers that you wanted to send me to become a Shared Wife, right?"

Lin Yu’s face turned pale, and her body couldn’t help but tremble. Was Luo Shu planning to repay an eye for an eye by sending her to become a Shared Wife? No, she would rather die than become the wife shared among several brothers. She had heard that men in those remote hills barely bathed once a year, and they even beat their wives. That was a fate worse than death.

"Scared?" Luo Shu hooked her lips into a cold smile.

"Luo Shu, I beg you, don’t send me to be a Shared Wife. As long as you spare me, even if you beat or scold me, I can take it. Please, please, I’m begging you, okay?" Lin Yu was genuinely frightened. Because the Lin family was well-off, she had never suffered hardship from childhood. Even though she was now divorced, she still lived in a family courtyard in the city and had no worries about food and clothing. If she were to actually go to such a place, she would rather die.

"Rest assured, I won’t send you to be a Shared Wife. But you’ve tried to take my life over and over. I must return the favor," Luo Shu said as she pulled out a black Pill and a Silver Needle from her pocket, "You should know that I’m a doctor, right? So now I’m giving you two choices: one is to swallow the Pill in my hand, and the second is to let me insert a needle into you."

Lin Yu bit her lip, her gaze shifting fearfully between the Pill and the Silver Needle in Luo Shu’s hand, "Is that poison?"

"Maybe it is. But I can tell you that one of these could indeed kill you instantly. It all depends on your own luck," Luo Shu said with a taunting smile.

Lin Yu’s face turned deathly gray and after a long time, she finally spoke slowly, "I choose the Pill." If it was her fate to end this way, then she accepted it.

"Good choice!" Luo Shu grasped Lin Yu’s chin, tossed the Pill into her mouth, "This Pill is called Seven-Day Incense. It will act every seven days, and each time, you will feel like living is worse than dying."

Upon hearing this, Lin Yu desperately tried to spit out the Pill, but as soon as it entered her mouth, it had dissolved into a liquid and slipped down her throat.

"Enjoy it slowly!" Luo Shu let go of Lin Yu’s chin, stood up, and walked out of the cattle shed. She turned to Fu Yi outside the door, "Let her go."
