Chapter 780: Seven hundred seventy-eight, plan in progress

"What’s most important right now is to understand the purpose behind Mr. Xinge’s actions."

The president nodded in agreement, sharing the same thought, "I’ve already placed a call and arranged a meeting time with Mr. Xinge. He has agreed to come here and meet with me tomorrow at noon."

"Tomorrow at noon!?" Everyone was surprised and looked at the president. Aren’t Vampires unable to go out during the daytime?

"I was surprised about this as well," the president said with a smile upon seeing everyone’s reactions.

He took a sip of his coffee and turned to the official in charge of media communications, "Let’s treat tonight’s incident as an accident—there’s no need for media coverage." If this incident were to be reported, it would undoubtedly cause public panic.

"Yes!" The official immediately responded. He understood the gravity of the situation, and had issued orders the moment he received the news.

Listening to Xinge recount the incident and the Northern Federation’s handling result, Luo Shu’s lips curled slightly upwards. The handling result was within her expectations. Any country dealing with such an incident would act similarly. Otherwise, public panic would ensue if it were released to the public.

Putting away the communication talisman, Luo Shu glanced at her watch and walked into the kitchen. Whenever Hanmo went to the Guard District, he would prepare food for her, so she only needed to reheat it.

She turned on the gas stove and warmed up the nourishing porridge made that morning.

"Crack!" Just then, the sound of glass shattering came from outside.

Luo Shu was startled, she turned down the stove to a low flame and walked out of the kitchen, only to see that the living room window had been smashed, and a small ball was rolling on the floor. Clearly, it was this small ball that had broken the glass.

"Knock, knock, knock!" There was a knock at the door from outside.

Luo Shu stepped outside to open the door and saw a little boy standing there, grimy and with a bruised face.

"Auntie! I’m sorry! I accidentally threw the ball into your yard," the little boy said, hanging his head low, not daring to look at Luo Shu. He was afraid of another scolding or beating.

"It’s okay!" Luo Shu handed the ball back to the little boy.

"Thank you, Auntie!" The little boy joyfully took the ball and ran off quickly.

Luo Shu withdrew her gaze, closed the yard gate, and turned to walk back inside.

After heating up the lunch that Hanmo had prepared for her, Luo Shu placed everything on the dining table, picked up her chopsticks, and was about to have lunch when her courtyard door was knocked on once again.

She put down her chopsticks and walked outside.

Opening the yard door, she saw a mother and son standing there; the child was the same little boy who had earlier accidentally broken the living room window with the ball.

"Sister-in-law Lu! My child told me he accidentally smashed your window. I’m here to apologize on his behalf. Here’s three yuan for the window," the woman said, extending the three yuan she had prepared in advance to Luo Shu.

Luo Shu shook her head with a smile, "It’s really okay, it was an accident, keep your money."

"We have to pay you, no matter what," the woman insisted. In the entire Guard District, their family was the poorest, but poverty would not strip her of her dignity. If her child made a mistake, he had to take responsibility; she couldn’t allow her child to think that an apology was enough to make up for his errors.

"Auntie, please accept it. My mom says if I’m a man, I have to be brave enough to face my mistakes," said the little boy seriously to Luo Shu. His mother had told him that the three yuan was meant to buy meat-filled buns, but since he had broken someone’s window, they could only afford to eat vegetarian dumplings this time. However, he was happy because his mother praised him for owning up to his mistake, and she told him he was a brave little man, just like his father.

Smiling, Luo Shu took the money and said, "Come in and sit down for a while."

"Not now, I have to get back to cooking," the woman replied with a smile, pulling the little boy towards the Guard’s Members Building.

Luo Shu looked at the three yuan in her hand, a small smile on her lips, and turned to go back inside. She could see that life wasn’t easy for the mother and son. The three yuan might be of great importance to them, yet they still stuck to their principles.

Some might view such people as foolish, yet she admired them. Being poor is not to be feared; it’s being poor without integrity that’s frightening.

Wang Fei and Yang Mujing were anything but idle over the past couple of days, with the plan unfolding exactly according to the steps they had laid out, now just waiting for the trap to catch their prey.

"Do you think with all of our action, the other side might get cautious?" Wang Fei put down her pen and turned to ask Yang Mujing. To be safe, only the two of them were in on the plan.

"They shouldn’t be. The bigger our move, the bigger the target. If they want to take down our company, they won’t miss this great opportunity," analyzed Yang Mujing. To draw out their adversary, their company had spared no expense this time.

"Let’s hope so," Wang Fei resumed her writing. She was working on a song that would suit her. Her last single had caused a sensation in the market. Many young people loved the song, and tapes were practically selling out.

The ringing phone on the desk snapped Yang Mujing’s attention; he picked it up, "This is Yang Mujing."

"Brother Yang, it’s Mu Wan. I’ve just received a call. The person asked me to drop the TV series I’m currently filming. If I agree, they’ll pay the penalty fee for breaking the contract and also give me ten thousand yuan as compensation," Mu Wan shared. Since she was good friends with Wang Fei, naturally, she would not agree to the caller’s request.

"I understand, Mu Wan. If they call again, agree to their request," Yang Mujing instructed.

"Why?" Mu Wan asked, puzzled.

"Why turn down free money?" Yang Mujing replied, the corners of his lips curving up.

After some thought, Mu Wan laughed and nodded in understanding, "I get it. I will not only agree to their request personally, but I will also encourage everyone else to do the same. Is that what you mean, Brother Yang?"

"Smart! But don’t make it too obvious," Yang Mujing said with a laugh. He trusted Mu Wan completely.

After hanging up, Yang Mujing looked over at Wang Fei, a gleeful expression on his face, "The plan is going smoothly; they have started to make their move."

Wang Fei’s lips curled into a sly smile, "Time to start Plan B, let the storm come even harder."

Yang Mujing walked over to the fridge, took out two bottles of yogurt, and handed one to Wang Fei. He then raised his bottle and said, "To our success, Fei Fei!"

Wang Fei smiled, nodded, and raised her yogurt bottle to clink with Yang Mujing’s, "We will succeed!"
