Chapter 778: Seven hundred and seventy-six, my master

Xinge got out of the car and shook hands with Helritte, "Capital Commandant Helritte, I’m pleased to meet you!"

"Lord Xinge, please come inside!" Helritte, very much the gentleman, made a welcoming gesture and led Xinge into the hall. Normally, he wouldn’t personally receive an ordinary person, let alone lead the way. However, Xinge was the Blood Emperor of the Fan Zhuo clan; not only did he have to show respect, but even the president of the Northern Federation would have to give face to Xinge. Xinge was the Sovereign of the sect powers, possessing strength not inferior to any family or power.

Entering the opulent hall, bathed in the glow of exquisite lights, Helritte arranged a seat for Xinge before taking a seat opposite him. He was somewhat surprised in his heart; he had heard that the Vampire Clan feared bright light the most, yet Xinge didn’t show any signs of discomfort under such dazzling lights. Could it be that the rumors were all lies?

A hint of disdain flashed in Xinge’s eyes; was this an attempt to test him? Fortunately, he was no longer the same as before. After making a pact with his master, not only had his strength ascended a rank, but he was also unaffected by even the most blinding light.

Helritte looked at a servant on the side, and the servant quickly stepped forward, picking up a bottle of red wine to pour for Xinge.

"Lord Xinge, this is a new wine from Polst Vineyard, please have a taste," Helritte said, picking up his own wine glass and smilingly giving it a gentle swirl.

Xinge slightly curved his lips, picked up his glass and gave it a swirl before raising it and taking a sip, "Hmm! It is indeed good! Just lacking a hint of bloodiness."

Helritte smiled faintly, "If Lord Xinge desires, I could have someone prepare that."

"I’m quite particular about blood. If Capital Commandant Helritte is willing to offer his own, I might condescend to have a few sips," Xinge said with a teasing raise of an eyebrow.

The smile on Helritte’s face froze for a moment before he laughed, "Lord Xinge really is humorous!"

Xinge took another sip of red wine and began slowly, "What is the purpose of inviting me here this time, Capital Commandant Helritte?"

At that moment, a sumptuous meal was served.

Once the dishes were brought to the table one by one, the servants who served the meal withdrew.

Helritte began, "Naturally, it’s about that matter. As long as Lord Xinge agrees to kill the two individuals mentioned in the data for me, I am willing to increase the compensation tenfold on top of the original offer." He was really out of options, having even employed the powerful forces of the international Mercenary Organization to no avail. For the sake of that piece of land, the abundant resources beneath it, he had to go all out this time.

Xinge smiled suggestively, "Tenfold is indeed a lot, but there’s something I am more interested in."

"What?" Helritte asked, surprised. Apart from gold, silver, jewels, and antiques, there wasn’t much of value here.

"You!" Xinge looked at Helritte.

Helritte was taken aback, considering one possibility, and quickly said, "Lord Xinge! I think you are mistaken, I don’t have such a taste." He couldn’t believe that the esteemed Blood Emperor was interested in men.

Xinge raised an eyebrow elegantly, took a piece of fruit salad with his fork, and tasted it. After finishing the entire piece, he began slowly, "What I’m interested in is your life."

Helritte was shocked, "What do you mean?"

"Someone wants your life," Xinge said, his voice lazy but very serious.

"Who?!" Helritte furrowed his brows and looked at Xinge. Who had such incredible power to employ Xinge? If Xinge were so easy to hire, he wouldn’t have to keep reducing his offer.

"The two individuals from Yan Country that you want to kill," Xinge said with a smirk.

"The two from Yan Country?" Helritte exclaimed in shock. He was amazed that they could discover he was the secret instigator and even more so that they could contact Xinge and have him work for them.

Regaining his senses, Helritte’s expression turned grave, "Lord Xinge! I am willing to offer double what they’re paying, as long as you agree to have someone kill them." Their extensive reach made him wary. Such an opponent must be eliminated quickly, or he would live in unrest.

Xinge waved a finger in front of Helritte’s eyes and smiled wickedly, "You cannot pay what they have offered."

"I don’t believe it!" Helritte shook his head in disbelief. In this world, aside from life itself, everything has a price.

"She has given me great strength, the right to live under the sun; can you offer me these things?" Xinge looked at Helritte with a mocking smile.

Helritte’s face filled with shock and disbelief, "Only a god can grant such things. They are merely two individuals from Yan Country; how could they possibly give you these?"

"You are right, in my heart and in the hearts of our Blood Clan, they are gods. They have granted us immense power and bestowed upon us special abilities. Capital Commandant Helritte, you seek to kill my master; shouldn’t I take your life?" Xinge’s voice grew colder, as if it came from Hell.

"Master?!" Helritte was stunned, as if struck by lightning, his entire being in disbelief. The Blood Emperor of the Fan Zhuo clan was calling two people from Yan Country ’master’? Good heavens! What news could be more shocking?

After a long while, Helritte collected himself, "Are you seriously not joking with me?" He couldn’t accept this reality. He had paid someone to assassinate his rivals, yet that person turned out to be a subordinate of those very targets; nothing could be more suffocating.

"Capital Commandant Helritte, you might as well truly enjoy this final meal," Xinge said as he elegantly cut the steak on his plate and took a bite. If it weren’t for the content of his words, one might think he was simply engaging in small talk.

"Is there really no room for negotiation?" Helritte looked at Xinge, his eyes carrying a plea. He had money, power, and status; he truly didn’t want to die.

"You lost the opportunity the moment you sent the first group after my master. I told you just now, my master is a god; if she wishes to kill you, no matter where you hide, she can find you," Xinge said, sipping his wine with a smile, "The skies outside are swarming with thousands of Vampiric Bats, ready to attack at my command." He wasn’t in a rush to kill his opponent just yet; he wanted him to fully experience the dread of impending death.

Upon hearing this, Helritte’s complexion turned deathly pale. After a while, he finally said, "May I speak with your master just once?"
