Chapter 752: 750, Hire Guard Member

The train station was bustling with people, countless individuals arriving from other places and just as many departing for distant lands.

Looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar scene before her, Luo Shu was once again reminded of the scenes of her and Hanmo taking the train together. Those memories felt as if they had occurred just yesterday.

"Once you get there, be sure to call us and let us know," Wu Yuan said, holding Luo Shu’s hand, her voice filled with reluctance. They had arrived at the train station earlier by car. How could they not come and see her off when Luo Shu was leaving?

Luo Shu nodded, suppressing the sour feeling in her heart, "Once I arrive, I’ll call."

"Good!" Wu Yuan nodded, letting go of Luo Shu’s hand and turning away. The movement of her arm revealed she was wiping away tears.

"You have to come back and visit often; if the factory collapses, don’t expect me to take the blame," Zhang Xiaoling said with forced lightness, laughing even though her eyes betrayed the tears shimmering within them. She and Luo Shu had met on a train and now, after only a few months, they faced separation once again.

"You’re doing so well, I’m not worried at all," Luo Shu said, forcing a smile and looking at Zhang Xiaoling. Zhang Xiaoling had a lot of experience in management and a far-reaching vision; the factory could only get better in her hands. Besides, she had already mentioned long ago that she wouldn’t interfere with the factory’s affairs.

Zhang Xiaoling sniffled, "So much trust in me, huh? Well, don’t regret it if it really does collapse."

"I have faith in you," Luo Shu said as she pulled out a stack of documents from her bag and handed them to Zhang Xiaoling, "Take a good look at these when you get back, and try them out if the situation allows."

"I won’t disappoint you," Zhang Xiaoling said, taking the documents and promising.

"May you achieve your dreams soon," Luo Shu encouraged her with a smile.

"It’s all your fault, making me cry," Zhang Xiaoling said irritably, giving Luo Shu a sideways glance and stepping aside to make room for Qi Hui and Fang Jingmei.

"Luo Shu, take care!" Qi Hui said succinctly. She dared not say more, fearing the tears she had finally managed to stop would start falling again.

"We’ll be waiting for you to come back and visit us with your baby," Fang Jingmei said, choking up. She seemed tough most of the time, but in critical moments, she was no more resilient than anyone else.

Over the loudspeaker in the train station, there came the announcement that the train was about to depart.

Luo Shu looked toward the others and smiled faintly, "We’re off, goodbye!"

With that, she turned and, holding Lu Hanmo’s hand, stepped into the carriage behind her.

The train slowly pulled away, speeding toward the next station and a new future.

The train that Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo boarded this time was still the sleeper. Traveling from the Northwest to Jiangcheng would take roughly three to four days.

After tidying up the berth, Lu Hanmo extended his arms and lifted Luo Shu, placing her on the upper bunk. They both had tickets for the upper berths.

"Wow, such strength! You must be a Guard Member!" a soft, sweet voice said as a young woman clad in a red down jacket entered.

Lu Hanmo didn’t even spare the newcomer a glance, easily propping himself up with one hand and leaping onto his own bunk.

"What impressive agility!" the young woman said, her eyes filling with admiration as she watched Lu Hanmo.

Seeing that Lu Hanmo showed no intention of responding to her, she sheepishly smiled and walked to her bed to dump all her luggage onto it in one go.

Then, she lay down on the bed and stretched lazily, "So tired! Finally, I can get some proper rest."

Soon, the room was filled with the sound of her soft snoring.

The train raced on and, when it stopped at a new station, a man dressed in black entered the compartment where Luo Shu and the others were.

He exuded an aura of solitude, sitting down on his bed without so much as a sidelong glance, arranging his luggage as if he were the only person in the entire room.

"Hello!" the young woman greeted him with a smile.

The man didn’t even lift his eyes, just kept his head down, busy with his luggage.

The young woman pouted in boredom. What kind of luck was this? She kept running into weirdos.

The silence stretched on, occasionally broken by a few words exchanged between Lu Hanmo and Luo Shu.

The man in black, since his arrival and finishing with his luggage, had been lying on the bed with his eyes closed the whole time. Even during meal times, he hadn’t budged an inch. If not for the slight rise and fall of his chest, one might think he wasn’t breathing anymore.

Lu Hanmo leaped down from the upper bunk and walked over to Luo Shu’s side, "I’m going to get some food."

"I’ll come with you," Luo Shu said. She had been lying in bed for quite a while and it was about time she moved around a bit.

"Okay!" Lu Hanmo reached out and scooped Luo Shu off the bed in one motion.

Then the two of them walked out, hand in hand, under the envious gaze of the young woman.

"Such a manly man, I wish I could find someone like him," the young woman said, enviously.

"You won’t get that chance," the man in black suddenly spoke.

The young woman jumped in fright and glared at him irritably, "So you can speak after all. I thought you were dead."

The man in black’s icy gaze swept over the young woman, "Do you think our mission this time will go smoothly?" They, the Guard Members, had been hired by someone to assassinate Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo. But from what he observed, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo’s strengths were no less than theirs. No! He should say they were very strong, which made him very doubtful about this mission’s success.

"What, scared? I never thought the internationally infamous Shadowless would know fear," the young woman said with a taunting laugh. Her expression was no longer innocent and cute—it had taken on a ruthless tint, especially the cold gleam in her eyes that would make anyone who saw it tremble.

The man in black let out a cold laugh, "Black Spider, then why don’t you make a move?"

Black Spider playfully tossed her hair and as she did so, a black spider crawled out from the cuff of her down jacket, "Who says I haven’t made a move?"

She opened her hand and the black spider immediately climbed onto her palm. She ran her slender fingers gently over the spider, "Xiao Hei has already bitten both of them. Once they get off the train, the poison in their bodies will take effect."

The man in black smirked, "Then I’ll be waiting to see. If you can kill them, I don’t want a share of the bounty." He had a strong hunch that Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo wouldn’t be so careless as to get poisoned just like that.
