Chapter 721: Seven hundred and nineteen, visit
"How do you have his information?" Chen Xiaomeng asked, somewhat surprised as she took the papers.
"Because you need it," Luo Shu said, hooking a smile.
"Luo Shu, does this mean you approve?" Wang Fei asked in surprise. After seeing what Luo Shu was capable of, her suddenly producing a document didn’t arouse curiosity; what surprised her was Luo Shu’s attitude.
Luo Shu shook her head, "Showing Xiaomeng Mo Li’s information is just to let her clearly understand the kind of person she likes. But in the end, the decision is hers to make." Issues of the heart are something no one can help with.
Everyone fell silent for a moment, then nodded in agreement.
"It’s half-past ten, let’s go to sleep."
"We should sleep. There’s a lot to do tomorrow."
Listening to the rustling rain outside, everyone slowly drifted off to sleep.
Chen Xiaomeng lay in bed with her eyes open, not the slightest bit sleepy. She had already looked through the documents, and something about it left a strange taste in her heart. She’d always heard that good-looking men were unreliable, but both Lu Hanmo and Yang Mujing were handsome, and they had been good to the ones they loved. Oh well, she thought, let’s just go with the flow.
As the sky was just beginning to lighten, Luo Shu awoke, glanced at the time on her wrist, climbed out of bed, and headed into the bathroom.
Thinking back to when whoever woke up first would buy breakfast, the corner of her mouth couldn’t help but turn up in a smile. She set her toothbrush and cup aside, took out a towel, and washed her face.
Just as she was about to go out to buy breakfast, Chen Xiaomeng’s voice came from behind her, "Luo Shu, wait for me, I’ll go with you."
Luo Shu stopped and waited as Chen Xiaomeng entered the bathroom. She smiled and sat down nearby to wait for Chen Xiaomeng to come out.
The street was lively with busy office workers in a rush, elders buying groceries or out for a stroll, and students like themselves out to buy breakfast.
Luo Shu and Chen Xiaomeng arrived at a pastry shop she used to frequent quite often, noticing that it had been renovated, now more spacious than before, and the number of customers eating breakfast had increased.
The owner of the pastry shop, still the same honest-faced uncle, greeted Luo Shu with a hearty laugh when he saw her, "Young lady, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen you come out for breakfast." He had a very clear memory of Luo Shu.
"I rarely come to the school now. Sir, we’d like a thermos of soy milk and five sets of deep-fried dough sticks and pancakes," Luo Shu said.
The owner glanced at Luo Shu’s belly, smiled knowingly, and replied, "Alright then, have a seat for a bit, it’ll be ready soon."
Chen Xiaomeng handed the thermos she was holding to the owner and sat down with Luo Shu at an empty spot nearby.
"Luo Shu, I thought about it all last night and decided to let things take their natural course. If it’s fated, I’ll give it a try with him. If it’s not, then I’ll give up," Chen Xiaomeng said. Indeed, Mo Li wasn’t quite suitable for her, but if there was still a chance to interact with him, she wanted to get to know him. After all, understanding someone requires spending time together.
Luo Shu smiled and nodded, "Just remember, until you’re sure he has developed feelings for you, you must guard your body and heart, and never put yourself in a passive position."
"I understand!" Chen Xiaomeng nodded and saw the owner coming over with the prepared soy milk. She stood up, walked forward, and took the thermos and the deep-fried dough sticks and pancakes from the owner’s hands.
Back at the dormitory, everyone was already awake.
"You’re all up early."
"We haven’t had breakfast in a long time."
"If only we could keep this up forever, I really miss those old times."
After Luo Shu left, they persisted for a while, but often they’d just get up at the last minute; nevermind breakfast, they were even rushed while washing up.
"Hurry and brush your teeth; it won’t taste good if it gets cold." Luo Shu picked up the thermos with soy milk and filled everyone’s cups. She missed the times when they all lived together, but some things can only change over time. Even though she and Wang Fei had returned for now, there would come a day when they would graduate, go their separate ways, and start their own families.
After having breakfast together, chatting and laughing, Luo Shu left school with Wang Fei.
"Finally seeing the sun," Wang Fei said, looking up at the sky, her face beaming with a bright smile.
"It’s going to be a busy day today, do you need any help?" Luo Shu asked Wang Fei.
"All you need to do is get to the restaurant on time in the evening, everything’s been arranged," Wang Fei replied with a smile.
"Okay, I’ll be there tonight," Luo Shu said, nodding with a smile and parted ways with Wang Fei at a crossroads.
Strolling down the street and passing by a roast duck shop, Luo Shu remembered she hadn’t visited Uncle Li and Aunt Li in a long while. So, she lined up, bought a roast duck, and made her way to the alley where the Lis lived.
Aunt Li was tidying up inside when she heard the knock on the door and hurried to open it.
Seeing Luo Shu at the door brought an instant smile of surprise to her face. She quickly turned and called into the house, "Old man, Luo Shu is here, come out quick!"
Suddenly, a series of hurried footsteps were heard, and Uncle Li rushed out of the house.
"Auntie, Uncle, I came to see how you’re doing," Luo Shu greeted them with a smile.
"Come in, have a seat! You’re pregnant? That looks like six or seven months along," Aunt Li said as she pulled Luo Shu into the house and noticed her bulging belly, exclaiming in delight.
"Just five months actually. It’s twins so it looks bigger," Luo Shu handed the roasted duck to Aunt Li.
"Twins, how wonderful!" Aunt Li giggled as she looked at Luo Shu’s belly, accepting the roast duck, "Your visit alone is a gift; why bring anything else?"
"I was passing by and just bought it," Luo Shu said with a smile.
"You are such a thoughtful child. Here, have some water." Aunt Li picked up the kettle from the table and poured a glass of water for Luo Shu, "Xiao Zheng called us the day before yesterday. He said he’s coming back to visit us for the New Year. We haven’t seen the boy in a while; we do miss him."
"He’s doing well now, stronger than before, Auntie and Uncle will see when you meet him," Luo Shu picked up the cup and took a sip of water. She often called Xiao Zheng to check up on him. He took third place in a shooting competition this time. To achieve such a result among many excellent Guard members was quite commendable.
