Chapter 715: Seven hundred and thirteen, meet again.
The sky was overcast, with a drizzle falling softly.
Luo Shu, umbrella in hand, walked slowly along the campus’s tree-lined avenue.
Beside her, students passed by intermittently, also with umbrellas; some hugged their books, admiring the beauty of the rain-soaked campus as they walked; others were in groups, chatting and playfully jesting as they went; and some hurried past on their bicycles, quickly swooshing by.
Looking at the familiar scenery before her, recalling the times she and Zhang Qi had also been like this, a smile couldn’t help but curve Luo Shu’s lips. She missed those carefree days dearly.
Arriving at the dormitory building, Luo Shu paused in front of the door, took out her key, and inserted it into the lock. She had always carried the key with her and planned to return it once she graduated.
Inside the dorm, everyone was chatting. When they saw the door push open, they all turned simultaneously, their faces lighting up with surprise at the sight of the visitor.
They jumped off their beds quickly and gathered around Luo Shu.
"Luo Shu, why have you come?"
"Your belly is getting bigger, can I touch it?"
"You shouldn’t be out in the rain, aren’t you afraid of slipping or tripping?"
"I thought you wouldn’t come back until Wang Fei’s wedding day."
"Sit down, I’ll pour you a hot cup of water."
"I returned to Jinchen the day before yesterday. I was waiting for the rain to stop to come see you, but it looks like the rain won’t let up these couple of days," Luo Shu said as she sat down in a chair, accepting the hot water Zhang Qi handed her.
"You could have called us; we would’ve come to see you."
"Even though you have divine skills, you’re still pregnant, and you need to be more careful with the baby inside."
Luo Shu took a sip of water, "It’s been a long time since I’ve been back to the dorm, I really miss it."
"Then don’t leave today, stay here," Chen Xiaomeng suggested.
"Yeah, we could talk together."
"Your bed has been kept tidy by us every day, it’s absolutely clean."
Everyone looked at Luo Shu expectantly. They too missed the times when Luo Shu and Wang Fei lived in the dorm, when everyone would laugh and play together. Although they often met up, that feeling was completely different from living in the dorm.
"Okay then!" Luo Shu smiled and nodded.
"Great! I’ll call Wang Fei and ask her to come back and stay, too. We can all get together," Xiao Yan proposed.
"Wang Fei is getting married the day after tomorrow, she probably doesn’t have time," someone said.
"Let’s ask her, maybe she can make some time for it."
Wang Fei was organizing her wedding dress. After attending Meng Yujuan and Li Hui’s wedding, she and Yang Mujing had decided to keep their own ceremony simple.
"Fei Fei, you have a call, it’s one of your classmates," Mrs. Wang called from outside.
"Got it!" Wang Fei stopped what she was doing, stood up, and went to the phone, picking it up, "It’s me." Just as the phone had started ringing, she had come out of the bathroom, wanting to answer, but the ringing stopped before she could.
"Wang Fei, it’s Xiao Yan. Do you have time to come to the dorm today?" Xiao Yan asked.
"Is something the matter?" Wang Fei inquired.
"Luo Shu is coming to the dormitory, and she has already agreed to stay over tonight. So, I wanted to ask if you’re free to come back, so we can all get together," Meng Yujuan said.
"Sure! I’ll come over right away," Wang Fei responded. She missed the days when they all lived together too.
"Then we’ll wait for you," Xiao Yan happily ended the call.
Once back to the dormitory, Xiao Yan immediately shared the good news with everyone.
"That’s great! Our 305 dormitory is finally full," they exclaimed.
"This is definitely a day to celebrate. When Wang Fei arrives, let’s go out for dinner and really celebrate," another suggested.
"Let’s go to the usual restaurant we go to."
"How about we go to the canteen instead? It’s been a long time since we ate there," Luo Shu suggested. Whoever finished class early in the past would secure a spot in the canteen for the rest.
When Wang Fei arrived at the dormitory, they chatted for a while and then headed to the university canteen.
Because it was raining, the canteen was particularly crowded that day.
After some difficulty, they found a spot and sat down.
"Luo Shu, you sit here, and we’ll get food for you," they offered. As a pregnant woman, Luo Shu naturally needed to be cared for, and they had to leave someone at the table to keep the seats or else there’d be none when they came back.
"I just checked, and today’s meal selection at the canteen is quite rich. There’s curry beef, braised spare ribs, braised pork, and white-cut chicken; for vegetables, there are green beans, potatoes, eggplant, and tomato scrambled eggs, as well as mock chicken, fried tofu, and egg soup. Luo Shu, which dishes would you like?"
"Anything will do, I’m not picky," Luo Shu smiled in response.
"Then we’ll go get the food, and we’ll be right back," the group said and headed towards the food service area.
Luo Shu looked towards where they serve food and saw a long line. It seemed that it would be a while before her friends returned, so she took out a book to read.
"Excuse me, is anyone sitting here?" a slightly hoarse voice asked next to Luo Shu.
Luo Shu looked up at the person asking, "Yes, someone is."
Upon hearing this, the male student moved on to look elsewhere.
Luo Shu continued to read, but soon someone sat down across from her.
"Xinxin, sit here and save the seat for us, we’ll go get the food," a girl wearing glasses said to the girl who had just sat down.
"Go ahead," the girl sitting opposite Luo Shu nodded in agreement.
Luo Shu put down her book and said to them, "You’ll need to find a different spot, this one’s taken."
The girl in the red ski jacket looked at Luo Shu, "Are you implying yourself? Do you even look like a student?" Her gaze landed on Luo Shu’s belly, filled with mockery. Judging by Luo Shu’s age, she wouldn’t be much different from them, likely not a teacher. And teachers had their own canteen anyway. A pregnant student was unusual, wasn’t it?
"These seats are taken, please leave," Luo Shu repeated a little more faintly. She rarely came back to the campus and didn’t want these people to spoil her mood.
"Just because you say it’s taken, doesn’t make it so. We could say we sat here first," the girl in the red ski jacket countered defiantly.
"This is the student canteen, and I’ve never seen a pregnant student here before," one of her companions added.
"We’ve decided we’re sitting here, so you better find a different spot," the girl sitting across from Luo Shu declared. They had looked around earlier, and this was the only seat that seemed to be free for the moment.
