Chapter 702: Seven hundred, conspiracy

Seeing a customer walk in through the door, Sun Xiaolan turned her head and, upon seeing who it was, her face immediately soured. Speak of the devil, and he shall appear; it seemed the lesson from last time hadn’t been enough.

Stepping forward, Sun Xiaolan blocked the path of the two people walking in, "Out! Our restaurant does not welcome you."

"We’ve come to eat, not to make trouble," the man said with a grin.

"I’ve never seen anyone do business like you, turning customers away. I’m set on having my meal here today; let’s see what you can do about it," the woman retorted with a cold snort. She had been harboring a grudge ever since she was thrown out last time.

She went to Big Uncle, hoping he’d find an excuse to shut down this restaurant. However, the health department and the business bureau had both made inspections and found no issues. With no problems, there was naturally no way to shut the restaurant down.

But she had come prepared this time; she had sent someone to bring rat poison into the restaurant. All they needed was a moment of distraction to slip the rat poison into the complimentary tea they provided.

Once someone drank tea containing rat poison, the boss and the employees of Bei Sea Service outfit would be arrested over the incident. By then, with a bit of connection leverage, it should be no problem for her to have them locked away for ten to eighteen years.

"Get out!" Sun Xiaolan spoke up again, ready to take action.

"We won’t leave today; we’re determined to eat here. Just try to throw us out again," the woman said provocatively as she looked at Sun Xiaolan. If the other party dared to make a move, she planned to feign fainting. She had made all the preparations for today and was set on making sure the restaurant regretted it.

Sun Xiaolan didn’t waste words with her opponent. She stepped forward, grabbed the woman’s collar, and threw her out.

"Ah!" The woman landed heavily on the street, let out a painful cry, and then tilted her head and fainted.

Seeing this, the man hurriedly rushed out, anxiously helping the woman off the ground, "Ye Zi, Ye Zi, what’s wrong? Wake up, don’t scare me." He and Ye Zi had a plan set up. By drawing everyone’s attention to them, the person who had sneaked into the restaurant would have the chance to slip rat poison into the tea.

Sun Xiaolan walked to the door, looking at the man and woman with a mocking smile, "Remember, you are forbidden from entering my shop ever again. If you do, I’ll throw you out every time."

"Don’t be arrogant! You will regret this," the man sneered at Sun Xiaolan. The Public Security officers should be arriving soon; with so many witnesses to the assault, he wanted to see how she would defend herself. Moreover, as soon as someone drank tea laced with rat poison, the situation would escalate even further.

Just as he was thinking this, a series of urgent footsteps sounded from not too far away. Three uniformed Public Security officers ran over.

The three officers made their way into the crowd of onlookers, glanced at the fainted woman, and asked the man, "What happened?" They had already conspired with the two individuals on a plan of action.

If the pair could get inside the restaurant, the three officers would wait for a while before making their entrance after hearing commotion from within. If the pair were thrown out, they’d make their appearance after the beating. They didn’t enjoy doing such things, but given that Ye Zi’s Big Uncle was good friends with their chief, they had to follow orders.

"We wanted to dine in, but she not only refused us entry, she also assaulted us. Look, she even caused someone to faint," the man pointed at Sun Xiaolan, standing at the doorway, complaining to the officers. Naturally, the three officers were unaware of the rat poisoning scheme.

"Did you hit this person?" one of the officers asked Sun Xiaolan, inquiring seriously.

Sun Xiaolan glanced at the woman on the ground and responded coolly, "I didn’t hit her!"

The man, not expecting Sun Xiaolan to deny it, was taken aback, and quickly retorted with anger, pointing at Sun Xiaolan, "You’re lying through your teeth; it was clearly you who hit her. All these people saw it. Officer colleagues, if you don’t believe me, you can go inside and ask. Surely someone witnessed it."

The three officers exchanged looks, and one middle-aged officer walked into the restaurant.

"Who can tell me what happened just now?" the middle-aged officer looked around at the restaurant’s patrons and spoke with a stern face.

Qi Hui was about to speak up to defend Sun Xiaolan.

But a Big Uncle had already started, "The girl didn’t hit anyone, she just pushed her out."

"That’s what happened; I saw it too."

"Officer Comrade, please don’t wrong a good person."

"Are you sure she didn’t hit anyone?" the middle-aged officer asked, pointing at Sun Xiaolan, incredulously.

"Absolutely sure," the crowd shook their heads in unison.

Having confirmed the story with the crowd, the middle-aged officer took some simple notes and walked out of the restaurant to his colleagues, "I’ve asked around, and everyone eating there says she didn’t hit anyone." Without evidence, they couldn’t arrest anyone.

"Officer Comrade, she really was hit; otherwise, why would she faint?" the man exclaimed upon hearing this.

"We will proceed based on the factual truth," the middle-aged officer stated. If it weren’t for orders from above, he wouldn’t bother getting involved with these two.

Ye Zi opened her eyes, and with the man’s support, stood up, pointing at Sun Xiaolan, "I’m the victim here; I can prove she hit me."

"Then you all should come with us to the Public Security Office to make a statement," the middle-aged officer said.

Ye Zi’s eyes flickered as she replied, "We can make statements right here, can’t we? Besides, I’ve already given my testimony; you can just take her away." She didn’t want to go to the Public Security Office and miss the drama that would unfold next. The person she had sent should have already administered the rat poison by now, and it wouldn’t be long before someone fell victim to it.

"That’s not according to regulations," stated the middle-aged officer.

"Your job is just to take her away, cut the chatter," Ye Zi said impatiently as she looked at the middle-aged officer. Why couldn’t this man be more flexible?

The middle-aged officer frowned, expressing his displeasure, "We must proceed according to regulations."

"You just take care of the arrest; I’ll take any responsibility. I’ll talk to your chief," Ye Zi declared haughtily.

Hearing this, the onlookers showed expressions of realization.

"So these three officers and that pair of man and woman are in cahoots, no wonder they arrived so rapidly."

"It seems this matter isn’t as simple as it appears on the surface."

"The world is really going downhill, the human heart has lost its ancient virtue!" the bystanders commented one after another.
