Chapter 669: Six hundred and sixty-seven, rage

Lu Hanmo stepped out of the tent and saw the excited crowd gathered together, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"Deputy Squadron Leader! Look, everyone has returned."

"Deputy Squadron Leader, hello!" The crowd greeted Lu Hanmo one after another as they saw him.

Lu Hanmo nodded slightly, his voice grave, "Everyone, assemble!"

"Yes!" The crowd responded in unison, quickly forming ranks.

Lu Hanmo walked in front of the troops, his piercing gaze sweeping over them, "The mission is complete. Let’s get ready, we’re returning to the Guard District."

The troops looked at Lu Hanmo, puzzled, yet they still responded in unison, "Yes!" They hadn’t found the monster yet, how could the mission be considered complete?

"Dismissed!" Without offering any explanation to the troops, Lu Hanmo turned and headed back to the tent. At this moment, he was eager to return, wishing he could fly back this instant and tell Shushu that he had news of Lih Xiao. She would definitely be delighted to know!

Shen Qingfeng put down his pen, stood up to stretch, picked up the documents from his desk, and walked out of his office towards the commander’s office. This document was the first he had dealt with since coming to this Guard District, so he had paid extra attention to it.

Along the way, the soldiers he passed looked at him with strange glances, prompting some surprise in Shen Qingfeng. He beckoned to one of the young soldiers, "You, come here!"

The young soldier, with a bitter and helpless expression, jogged over to Shen Qingfeng and saluted, "Squadron Leader!"

"What happened?" Shen Qingfeng asked the young soldier.

"Nothing..." the young soldier quickly shook his head. Having interacted with the Squadron Leader for two days, he found that the Squadron Leader was quite agreeable, but the Squadron Leader’s Wife had gone too far, even nitpicking with a child. However, how could he bring himself to speak of such matters?

"Speak up! What exactly happened?" Shen Qingfeng ordered sternly.

"Yes!" The young soldier shouted and was about to speak when he saw the commander’s Guardian running toward them, he secretly let out a sigh of relief. It seemed he wouldn’t need to say anything.

The Guardian arrived in front of Shen Qingfeng and saluted, "Squadron Leader Shen! The commander wants to see you."

Shen Qingfeng nodded and strode toward the commander’s office.

Song Jiefang was on the phone when he heard footsteps. Looking up, he saw Shen Qingfeng preparing to knock on the door and nodded at him, gesturing towards the chair opposite him.

Shen Qingfeng stopped knocking and walked over to sit across Song Jiefang, waiting for him to finish the call.

Song Jiefang put down the phone and looked at Shen Qingfeng, "Have a seat!"

"Yes!" Shen Qingfeng sat down and passed the document he held to Song Jiefang, "Commander, I’ve completed the document for your review."

Song Jiefang took the document and set it aside, "Let’s talk about that in a moment. Qingfeng, you should be aware of what your wife did yesterday. What are your thoughts?"

Shen Qingfeng was startled, "What happened?" What trouble had Moli caused now? It seemed this matter was significant; otherwise, it wouldn’t have alerted the commander.

"You don’t know?" Song Jiefang looked at Shen Qingfeng with surprise.

Shen Qingfeng shook his head with a wry smile. He had only arrived here two days ago—was he going to be transferred out already?

"Yesterday, your wife went to Wang Bing’s home. Since Wang Bing’s little girl doesn’t know better and accidentally smeared her snot on your wife’s clothes, your wife pushed the child down. I heard it was quite a fall, leaving the child with a concussion. Ah, what a mess," Song Jiefang said with a sigh and shake of his head. He was friends and comrades with Shen Qingfeng’s father; how was he supposed to handle this?

"What?! How is the child now?" Shen Qingfeng could hardly believe what he was hearing. Guo Moli was old enough to know better; who argues with a child? No wonder those soldiers looked at him that way.

"She was looked after at Lu Hanmo’s wife’s place last night, took some medicine, and is fine now," Song Jiefang said. He was furious when he heard about it but knew well why Shen Qingfeng was transferred here. If Shen Qingfeng continued to indulge his wife and let her wreak havoc, his promising career would be ruined. Yet, these were domestic issues, and he could only offer some advice without being able to intervene.

Shen Qingfeng suppressed the anger in his heart, striving not to show it, "I will take her to apologize. Commander, I apologize for the trouble."

Song Jiefang waved his hand, "I promised your father I would look after you, and I hope you can manage your household well. Only when your home is harmonious can you focus on protecting everyone and serve the country."

He then picked up the document Shen Qingfeng had given him to read.

"I understand! Thank you, Commander!" Shen Qingfeng’s voice held a rasp as he struggled to control his emotions. He had given Guo Moli too many chances, his heart softening each time she tearfully begged his forgiveness, vowing internally that this was absolutely the last time. Yet, he always forgave her in the end.

If someone wanted to truly change, it wasn’t just talk but required action, which his wife had never shown. This time, he was truly disheartened.

Watching Shen Qingfeng’s dejected departure, Song Jiefang shook his head, put down the document, opened the drawer, and took out an anonymous letter from inside. Someone had sent this letter to him; it detailed how Guo Moli had wrongly deducted the workers’ transportation fees.

He intended to inform Shen Qingfeng about this today, but he restrained himself. If he mentioned both issues, Shen Qingfeng and his wife would undoubtedly end up divorcing. Although Shen Qingfeng could easily get a divorce once he applied for it, this matter would also become an obstacle in his career path. Even if he achieved honors, such incidents could influence his promotions.

After leaving the commander’s office, Shen Qingfeng went straight out of the Guard District and headed towards the residential area.

Upon returning home, he saw Guo Moli casually leaning on the couch, nibbling on an apple, and watching television as if nothing was wrong, which inflamed his already burning anger.

He rushed towards Guo Moli, snatched the apple from her hand, and smashed it onto the floor, "How long do you plan to continue this nonsense?!" She seemed to think she had all the time in the world, causing trouble yet acting as if it were nothing.
