Chapter 668: 666, Lih Xiao

Guo Moli sniffed, her voice filled with grievance, "Today when I went to buy vegetables, I heard people say that the wife of Deputy Squadron Leader Lu from next door opened a cake factory. I thought since I have nothing to do at home, I might as well go work at the factory. But as soon as I approached her about it, Lu’s wife flatly refused me. I couldn’t accept it! So I went to another guard’s wife, and she also rejected me straight away and even drove me out."

"Then just don’t go," Shen Qingfeng was also unwilling for Guo Moli to go, as with her bad temper, it was certain she would offend someone.

"I don’t want to go now, but I can’t just let them bully me like that for nothing," Guo Moli looked at Shen Qingfeng with a pitiful expression, hoping he would stand up for her and seek justice.

"I understand, I’ll handle it," Shen Qingfeng replied noncommittally. There must be a reason why they were so discourteous. Besides, he was too busy with his own matters to intercede in their women’s affairs.

When she heard Shen Qingfeng’s words, a smile immediately bloomed on Guo Moli’s face, "You must get justice for me, especially that Yang Le. You need to give him an earful, tell him to keep his wife in line properly."

"Mhm!" Shen Qingfeng nodded, bent down to pick up the newspaper from the ground, and resumed reading.

As the night deepened, the mountains and forests emitted an eerie and sinister aura, sending chills through anyone present.

After setting up the formation around the camp, Lu Hanmo flew into the sky with his sword control. Zi Hour was approaching, and the adversary should be coming out soon.

"Awooo!" As expected, before long, an extremely terrifying roar that shook the whole forest echoed throughout the area.

Lu Hanmo quickly released his divine sense, sweeping in the direction from where the roar came.

A giant white snake immediately appeared within his divine sense. Indeed, it was a spirit beast!

Feeling Lu Hanmo’s divine sense, the spirit beast paused, trying to avoid detection, but found that no matter how it tried, it couldn’t escape his divine sense and let out an angry roar. It had barely escaped from the seal in Xia Mountain, only to encounter a True Cultivator so soon.

Lu Hanmo descended from the sky and stood opposite the spirit beast, "Where are the missing people?" The beast was at the peak of Third-Level strength, and with his current power, taking its life wouldn’t be difficult.

"Eaten!" the spirit beast replied reluctantly. It had been confined on Xia Mountain for tens of thousands of years, and even though it had escaped the seal, its strength was still bound. Otherwise, with its true strength, killing the cultivator opposite would take no more than a puff of breath.

Lu Hanmo’s expression darkened immediately, his icy gaze chilling to the bone. He no longer wasted words with the beast and threw out a talisman.

"Talismans can’t kill me. I’m telling you, if you really kill me, it’s not just you, but the whole world that will be destroyed. We, the Dragon Clan, will absolutely not let you off," the spirit beast didn’t dodge the talisman’s attack. Although its cultivation was sealed, its physical strength remained unchanged. It was an Immortal Beast, and these mere talismans were powerless against it.

"Dragon Clan?" Lu Hanmo pondered for a moment, then looked at the spirit beast again, "Are you Lih Xiao?" Long Jing had once mentioned that he and another elder, Lih Xiao, had fled here with Xiao Qing.

"How do you know me?" Lih Xiao looked at Lu Hanmo in surprise.

"Long Jing mentioned it," Lu Hanmo spoke calmly. Now, he was conflicted internally. The creature was an elder of the Dragon Clan, a member of Xiao Qing’s race. If he killed it, Xiao Qing and Long Jing would definitely be angry. Moreover, the beast was vital in Xiao Qing’s quest for revenge for her family and clan. But his comrades had been devoured by it - if he didn’t kill the beast, how could he face them?

"Where is he?!" Lih Xiao’s eyes were filled with excitement as he asked eagerly. That fellow was actually still alive, what a stroke of fortune for the Dragon Clan!

"Did you really eat those people?" Lu Hanmo asked again. He had already made a decision in his heart.

"Not yet," Lih Xiao replied. The flesh of humans nowadays is bitter. It was picky about food, so these past few days, it had kept those people in its gourd, intending to wait until their taste improved before consuming them.

"Where are the people?" Lu Hanmo asked urgently.

With a curl of its tail, a gourd suddenly appeared. Using its tail, it opened the mouth of the gourd and poured out all the people inside. Fortunately, Lih Xiao preferred its food alive; otherwise, had they been dead, dealing with the situation would have been difficult today.

Seeing Lu Hanmo scanning the people on the ground with his divine sense, Lih Xiao said, "They’ve just fainted. They’ll wake up after a few hours of sleep." The water in its gourd was from the Dragon Clan’s Dragon Cleansing Pool; these people were actually blessed in disguise.

Lu Hanmo also saw that the people were still alive, and he breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at Lih Xiao, he asked, "Can you hide yourself?" If not, he would have to use an Invisibility Talisman.

Lih Xiao’s body shuddered a few times, and its huge body quickly shrank until it became a small white snake the size of a chopstick. It no longer looked fierce, but rather a bit cute.

Lu Hanmo reached out his hand, and Lih Xiao immediately coiled around his arm.

Raising his hand, he threw a few Formation Flags, protecting the line of people on the ground. This was a wilderness with many wild animals. The formation had a time limit, and once the people awoke, the formation would automatically deactivate.

Back at the camp, Lu Hanmo checked the time, hesitated whether to tell Luo Shu the good news right away. After a moment, he decided against it, planning to return the next day to give Shushu a surprise.

The sun gradually rose on the horizon, and as the splendid sunlight illuminated the entire land, it heralded the start of a new day.

The soldiers were sitting outside their tents, absent-mindedly eating breakfast, when they heard footsteps in the distance. As they turned their heads, their faces immediately lit up with joy.

"It’s Ling Qiang, Fang Zheng, Yang Xumin, and Wang Xuejun, they’re all back!"

"That’s great! They’re all still alive!"

"None of them have sacrificed, hahaha..." The soldiers danced giddily, laughing as they went up to greet them.

"Where have you been these past few days? You had us all worried to death."

"You made me so sad for so long, you bastards!" The crowd surrounded Ling Qiang and the others, each face beaming with joy.

"When we woke up, we found ourselves lying in the forest, and we really don’t know what happened."

"No matter what happened, the fact that we’re still alive now is the best thing." They were puzzled about the events, but being alive and with their comrades made them very happy.
