Chapter 649: Six hundred forty-seven, save someone

Wandering around the factory, Zhang Xiaoling was startled by the sound of a car horn outside, "I’ll go out and have a look."

"Let’s go together," Luo Shu said, walking side by side with Zhang Xiaoling toward the outside.

Once outside the factory, they saw a large truck parked in the square, loaded with cake-making machinery, chairs, trays, and boxes and packaging.

"Have you already arranged everything?" Zhang Xiaoling asked in surprise. She had planned to hire a vehicle in the afternoon to transport these machines and materials.

"Yes!" Luo Shu replied with a smile. She had both the truck and the workers, so naturally, there was no need for Zhang Xiaoling to worry about these matters.

"You’re really good at giving surprises!" Looking at Luo Shu with excitement shining in her eyes, Zhang Xiaoling felt there was little for her to worry about with Luo Shu around.

"You handle arranging the machines," said Luo Shu, with a lift of her lips.

"Alright! Just leave the rest to me, you just find a place to sit," said Zhang Xiaoling, suddenly feeling full of energy. She walked up and started directing the workers, having them move the machinery into the workshop. Once the machines were in place, she would call the workers to tidy up in the afternoon, and they could start production formally tomorrow.

The villagers watched and soon came forward to help. They too hoped to work at the cake factory in the future, so helping the leaders now might leave a good impression.

With many hands, the work was easily done. In less than half an hour, all of the machinery, chairs, and packaging were in place.

After thanking the villagers for their help and observing the orderly workshop, Zhang Xiaoling pinched her own face hard, her expression filled with satisfaction and joy. Initially, it was only her and Luo Shu. Back then, all she wanted was something to keep her busy, so she wouldn’t have to worry about daily expenses, and if she could improve her little family’s situation, she would be content. As the factory developed rapidly, she started to dream. Yet, she had not anticipated that her dream would be realized so quickly.

"We could set up a canteen here," Luo Shu suggested. Before, there had been no room, but now there was plenty, and this plan had to be put on the agenda. As the factory grew, more workers would be needed, and it would no longer be convenient to buy boxed meals.

Zhang Xiaoling nodded, "I have had the same idea. There are a few sister-in-laws in the Guard’s Members Courtyard who cook quite well, I’ll ask them if they’d like to come." With a canteen, the factory would be more formalized.

"You arrange it, it’s about time we head back," Luo Shu said, looking at her watch and walking toward the exit.

Zhang Xiaoling smiled, gave herself an encouraging thumbs up, and followed Luo Shu.

Life settled down once again, and half a month flew by in an instant.

Luo Shu circled a date on the calendar with a red pen. Calculating the time, her mother was due to give birth within these few days. She had already discussed it with Hanmo, and tomorrow she would return to stay at the Divine Doctor Family for a while. The birth of her brothers was a significant event, and naturally, she could not miss it.

There was also the matter of Wang Fei; the casting for the script was settled, and she needed to take some time to check if the selected actors were suitable to play the roles of her and Hanmo from her previous life. She did not want this script to have any regrets.

Drawing her hand to her slightly protruding belly, Luo Shu’s lips curved into a gentle smile of happiness. She was already nearly three months pregnant, and it wouldn’t be long before she could see her babies’ faces.

"Thump thump thump!" An urgent knocking came from outside.

Luo Shu put down the red pen in her hand, turned around, walked out of the room, and approached the door to open it.

Standing outside was a somewhat unfamiliar Guard’s Wife. Seeing Luo Shu open the door, she anxiously blurted out, "Please save my husband! He’s been shot, please hurry and save him!" The doctor had just told her that the bullet was only a few millimeters from her husband’s heart, making surgery very difficult. She had heard of Luo Shu’s exceptional medical skills, so she rushed over. Luo Shu was her only hope now.

"Let’s go!" Luo Shu nodded, and they headed toward the Guard District Hospital.

He Xiulan hurried to follow.

Upon arriving at the Guard District Hospital, they saw that Lu Hanmo and Song Jiefang were also there.

Lu Hanmo had just received the news and rushed over, not having yet had the chance to assess Ke Yan’s injury.

Seeing Luo Shu coming, Lu Hanmo quickly stepped forward and pushed open the door to the operating room. Saving a life was the most critical thing right now.

"We have enough people here, you guys can go out," Lu Hanmo said to the several doctors inside the operating room, who were discussing how to proceed with the surgery.

The doctors were stunned for a moment. Realizing the situation, and after glancing at Luo Shu, who had already walked up to Ke Yan’s side, they stepped out. They had all heard of Luo Shu’s medical skills. Now that they were at a loss, and since someone else had taken over, they left the challenging task in their hands.

Luo Shu took out a pill and placed it into Ke Yan’s mouth, a pill that could enhance his vital signs.

Once the doctors left, Lu Hanmo immediately released his Divine Sense, permeating Ke Yan’s body, enveloping the bullet next to his heart with his Divine Sense, and drawing the bullet out of Ke Yan’s body. Since he was capable, he naturally wouldn’t let Shushu get tired.

Placing the blood-covered bullet on a nearby medical tray, Lu Hanmo stepped aside to disinfect and then went forward to medicate and bandage Ke Yan’s wound.

Outside the operating room, He Xiulan, Song Jiefang, and a group of doctors waited anxiously for the outcome. They had placed all their hopes on Luo Shu; if even she couldn’t save Ke Yan, then there truly was no hope left.

He Xiulan bit her lip and stared tightly at the operating room door, tears continuously falling from her eyes. Ke Yan was her rock, and if anything happened to him, what would she and the children do?

"Don’t worry, everything will be alright," Song Jiefang said, trying to offer comfort. Ke Yan was an excellent soldier who had earned countless honors. He really didn’t want to see Ke Yan sacrificed like this.

Just as everyone was in a state of extreme anxiety, the door to the operating room was pulled open, and Lu Hanmo and Luo Shu walked out from inside.

"How is my Old Ke?" He Xiulan rushed forward, anxiously asking.

"The surgery was very successful!" Luo Shu announced with a smile.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much!" He Xiulan said, about to kneel in gratitude.

Luo Shu quickly reached out to support her, "No need for thanks! Centurion Ke will be waking up soon, go in and see him." Being the wife of a Guard Member herself, she clearly understood the psychological pressure borne by the wives of Guard Members. It was an honor and a source of pride to be the wife of a Guard Member, but when their husbands were on duty, who else could know their worries and torment aside from the wives themselves?
