Chapter 634: Six hundred and thirty-two, agreed
Lu Hanmo was just about to walk out of the office when he heard the phone on the desk ring.
He stepped forward, picked up the phone and said in a deep voice, "This is Lu Hanmo!"
"Hanmo, I have something to tell you," Luo Shu said as she pressed the speakerphone button and winked playfully at everyone around her.
"Mhm!" Lu Hanmo’s usually stern tone instantly softened, and even with just one word, one could feel the tenderness like a spring breeze.
Luo Shu’s heart skipped a beat, and her smile became even more radiant, "After the holiday, I want to go out with Wang Fei and the others for two days."
"Where to?" Lu Hanmo asked softly.
"Southern Sky," Luo Shu replied.
"Okay!" Lu Hanmo agreed. He had already heard from Luo Shu’s use of speakerphone that Wang Fei and the others were present. Although he would not feel at ease without accompanying her, he would not stop Shushu. He trusted her to have a sense of measure.
"Wait until you get home; I’ll reward you," Luo Shu whispered after turning off the speakerphone.
"Okay!" Lu Hanmo’s face lit up with anticipation. The bliss of that day was unforgettable. He just didn’t want to tire Shushu, so he had refrained from mentioning anything these past few days.
Seeing Luo Shu hang up the phone and walk towards them, Wang Fei and the others all wore incredulous expressions.
"Your Lu the War God really agreed? He can rest easy even with you being pregnant?"
"This is completely different from what I imagined. If it weren’t for the adhesion in your tones, I’d think there was a problem between you two."
"How could your Lu the War God agree? I really can’t figure it out!"
Seated on the sofa, Luo Shu smiled and looked at everyone, "If you can’t figure it out, then don’t bother. Just get ready; we leave the day after tomorrow morning."
"Alright!" The others stopped dwelling on the question.
Zhang Qi put the raw stones and bracelets she held back on the table. She was extremely eager about the trip to Southern Sky! Perhaps her future would be different because of this journey.
Chen Xiaomeng, feeling hungry, suggested, "It’s noon already. Let’s go eat at Old Uncle Ning’s." Ever since she had eaten at Old Master Ning’s place last time, she had been enamored with the taste and couldn’t stop thinking about it.
"Okay!" Luo Shu agreed. It had also been several days since she had visited Grandpa Ning in town.
Before Luo Shu had even reached the front courtyard, she could hear the music playing from a tape recorder from afar, signaling that Zhang Xiaoling and her group were rehearsing.
It was now the lunch break, and everyone was holding lunch boxes, either standing or squatting around the yard.
A large space in the middle was left clear, where Zhang Xiaoling and her group were following the rhythm of the music and walking like cats. Each of them wore a confident smile, their heads held high with pride, exuding an air that commanded attention.
"Not bad at all! It’s no worse than the professionals," Wang Fei praised. Due to her connection with ’Starlight,’ she had been exposed to fashion and entertainment, so she was no stranger to catwalks.
Chen Xiaomeng nodded in agreement, "I also think it’s very nice. Tomorrow night, they will definitely dazzle everyone." Although she wasn’t as professional as Wang Fei, she could still tell what was good and what wasn’t.
"Mhm!" Luo Shu smiled, retracting her gaze and leading everyone towards the exit. She did have some confidence in the fashion show, but she was unsure about the aesthetic standards of this era.
The group arrived at Old Master Ning’s restaurant, and since it was past mealtime, there weren’t many customers inside.
Sun Xiaolan saw Luo Shu and her companions coming and was very happy. She hurriedly arranged a table for them. "You guys are lucky to come today. If it were tomorrow, you’d find the place empty, as our shop is closing for a week."
"Isn’t the holiday only three days off? Why are you closing for so long?" Chen Xiaomeng asked. She had wanted to come back here for lunch tomorrow.
"My master has some business and needs to make a long trip." Sun Xiaolan went aside, brought over a pot of tea and five cups, placed the cups on the table, filled them, and handed them to everyone.
"I’ll go check on Grandpa Ning." Luo Shu stood up and walked towards the kitchen.
"Here she comes." Old Master Ning heard the footsteps and knew it was Luo Shu.
"Grandpa Ning is going on a long journey?" Luo Shu walked over and started to help wash the vegetables.
Old Master Ning smiled and nodded, "I haven’t been out for a long time. I want to visit an old friend."
"I’m also going to Southern Sky the day after tomorrow with a friend," said Luo Shu as she placed the washed vegetables on the chopping board and started cutting them.
"Running around while pregnant, if you weren’t a True Cultivator, you’d definitely be courting disaster with all this trouble," Old Master Ning glared at Luo Shu disapprovingly, waved his hand, and the vegetables Luo Shu had chopped flew into the pot.
Luo Shu stuck out her tongue playfully, "Well, I’m used to being busy! Suddenly asking me to idle around, I really find it hard to adjust."
Sun Xiaolan came in, reported the dishes Chen Xiaomeng and the others had ordered, moved forward, and carried out the dishes Old Master Ning had prepared.
"I also happen to be going to Southern Sky this time," said Old Master Ning.
"Oh?" Luo Shu raised her eyebrows in surprise.
"There’s a mountain in Southern Sky called Xia Mountain. Ten years ago, when I passed by, I noticed something unusual about the mountain. Upon investigation, I discovered that a Spirit Beast was about to break a seal. I happened to have a Level Five Talisman on me, so I affixed it to the seal to reinforce it. That Talisman is about to expire, and I plan to go strengthen the seal again," Old Master Ning said with a solemn tone. He was unsure what type of Spirit Beast was locked within the seal, but he feared that if the beast were to break free, it could bring catastrophic disaster to Yan Country.
"Why don’t I go have a look?" Luo Shu suggested after a moment’s thought.
"No! You are pregnant now, it’s better not to take the risk," Old Master Ning firmly refused. Although he didn’t know exactly what the Spirit Beast was, he could sense its formidable power.
"Alright then!" Luo Shu agreed. But she had already made up her mind that when she went to Southern Sky, she would check out Xia Mountain. If there really was danger, she would ask Long Jing for help. With his strength, it wasn’t just the Mortal Realm that was no match for him, even in the True Cultivation World, he was an invincible presence.
"Girl, don’t you tease me. I’m serious, you must not go there," Old Master Ning warned earnestly. He was now somewhat regretting telling Luo Shu about this, knowing her penchant for getting into trouble; she might actually go.
"Don’t worry, Grandpa Ning! I won’t mess around," Luo Shu said with a smile on her lips. Even if she went there, she would never joke with her own life, nor with the child in her womb.
