Chapter 628: 626, Xu Yan

Luo Shu lounged on the sofa, speaking on the phone with Wang Fei, "Coming over?"

"Of course, I’m coming. Isn’t there a fashion show? I’d like to check it out," Wang Fei said with interest. She had been quite busy lately and hadn’t been to school for several days now.

"What about them?" Luo Shu asked.

"Zhang Qi, Meng Yaoyao, and Xiaomeng will definitely come. Xiao Yan is uncertain, and Yujuan is busy planning her wedding, so she might not be able to make it," Wang Fei explained.

"Is the wedding date set?" Luo Shu inquired. The last time Meng Yujuan came over, she mentioned she might get married to Li Hui by the end of the year. The couple had also started a small business, which was doing quite well.

Wang Fei took a sip of water and replied, "Probably in mid-October, but the exact date is still undecided."

"Why has it been moved up so much?" Luo Shu asked, surprised.

"There’s been a little life created," Wang Fei said with a mischievous laugh.

Luo Shu chuckled knowingly, "Then you should be careful too. Don’t surprise me one day by saying you and Yang Mujing have created a little life as well."

"Get out of here! That’s not going to happen." Although she and Yang Mujing had established a romantic relationship, they were both career-oriented. They wouldn’t consider marriage until ’Starlight’ reached the stage they imagined.

"You never know!" Luo Shu teased.

Wang Fei rolled her eyes, without words, "I’ve chosen a few actors for that script you gave me. I’ll bring their information when I come over. There’s also one actor I find quite suitable, but it’s a bit difficult to invite them since they’re from Pearl Island City. I’ve got to rush off, we’ll talk in detail when we meet, bye!"

"Bye!" Luo Shu hung up the phone with a smile, thought for a moment, and then made another call to Zhao Aishu.

"Hello! I am Niuniu. Are you looking for my dad, or my mom?" A naive and sweet voice came through the phone.

"I’m looking for you!" Luo Shu couldn’t help but smile.

"Is that you, sister? Niuniu misses you so much. When will you come to see Niuniu?" Hearing Luo Shu’s voice, Niuniu’s beautiful little face lit up with a delighted smile. It had been several days since she last saw her sister and she really missed her!

Zhao Aishu came out of the room and saw Niuniu talking on the phone. She smiled and approached, "Who are you talking to?" In the past few days, Niuniu had totally integrated into their family, and both Old Xu and she were fond of this beautiful and clever child. With her around, the house had become much livelier, as if injected with a new vitality. She and Old Xu had formalized the adoption process, and Niuniu’s name was now Xu Yan.

"It’s sister’s call. Sister, mom’s here, do you want to talk to her?" Xu Yan asked with twinkling eyes and a giggly smile.

"Sure!" Luo Shu cheerfully responded.

"Sister! Niuniu will wait for you to visit me! Oh, and Niuniu will be able to go to school soon," Xu Yan announced happily. She had begun learning to write and do arithmetic in the past few days, and mom said she would send her to school after the holidays.

"Congratulations, Niuniu! Tomorrow, sister will send you a pretty little backpack, okay?" Luo Shu asked with a laugh.

"Okay! Bye, sister!" Xu Yan handed the phone to Zhao Aishu, who was standing next to her, and then ran off to continue practicing her writing.

Zhao Aishu took the phone, "How have you been these days? Any discomfort?"

"I’ve been fine. How about you, godmother?" Luo Shu sat up, shifting her posture.

"I’m also quite well, ever since Niuniu came to our house, it has become much livelier. She’s smart and witty, Old Xu and I both like her a lot. We’re planning to send her to school after the holidays," Zhao Aishu said, glancing at Xu Yan, who was practicing her writing, her face wearing a kind smile.

"The school has only started a month ago; with Niuniu’s intelligence, she’ll catch up quickly," Luo Shu replied, sensing the joy in Zhao Aishu’s voice and feeling happy for her.

After chatting with Zhao Aishu for almost half an hour until someone knocked at the door, Luo Shu ended the call.

Approaching the door, she saw Fang Jingmei, whom she hadn’t seen for quite some time, "Sister-in-Law, come in and have a seat." She had only met Fang Jingmei once before when Qi Hui invited her and Hanmo to dinner.

"I won’t come in; I’ve just come back from my parents’ house and brought you some local produce," Fang Jingmei said, shaking the bag in her hand and handing it to Luo Shu. She had lived in the Guard’s Members District for many years, and her closest friends were Qi Hui and Wu Yuan. She had a good impression of Luo Shu from their previous encounter, so she brought some local produce for her this time.

"Thank you, Sister-in-Law!" Luo Shu took the bag and thanked her.

"I’m heading to Qi Hui’s place to deliver some things," Fang Jingmei said, and then she turned and walked toward Qi Hui’s house.

"Take care, Sister-in-Law." Luo Shu watched Fang Jingmei leave, closed the door, and returned to her room.

Qin Yue buried her head in the blanket, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into every time she thought of Bai Moyao washing her underwear. In her mind, Bai Moyao had always been a lofty, princely figure, but these past two days, he had completely shattered that image.

Bai Moyao hung the washed clothes in the yard. Back in his Guard School days, he always washed his own clothes, so this was just a trivial task to him.

Entering the house with an empty basin, Bai Moyao washed his hands and then went to check on the chicken soup in the kitchen. He had called home and asked his mother, and she told him that the best thing for a pregnant woman to drink was chicken soup. So, he had gone to town that morning to buy three chickens, slaughtered one, and kept the other two in the yard for later consumption.

Entering the room and seeing Qin Yue buried in the blanket, he walked over and pulled away her cover, "You silly woman, are you trying to suffocate yourself?"

"That’s my business," Qin Yue retorted coldly.

"There’s my child in your belly," Bai Moyao looked at Qin Yue’s stomach.

Qin Yue wished she could give birth to the child and toss it to him right now, so he’d stop mentioning the child at every turn. If she didn’t eat, he’d say he didn’t mind if she starved but couldn’t starve his child. If she tried to get out of bed, he’d throw her back on the bed and coolly say it was okay if she fell but she couldn’t harm his child. Child, child—she had never seen such an annoying man. She really wanted to bite him just to vent her frustration.
