Chapter 622: 620, Bai Moyao
After handing over the matter to Wang Jinhui, Luo Shu drove back to the training camp.
As soon as she parked the car, she heard a commotion in the distance. Looking up, she saw a group of young women in Guard uniforms entering the training camp. They seemed to be from the performance team by their appearance.
With a slight smile, Luo Shu stepped towards the family compound.
"Luo Shu!" Qin Yue walked out from a neighboring yard upon opening her door and approached Luo Shu, "Can I borrow your car for a bit?" Although she didn’t like Bai Moyao, he was still her husband and the father of the child in her womb. It was only right for her to pick him up since he had come from far away.
"Sure!" Luo Shu handed her car keys to Qin Yue.
"Thank you!" Qin Yue took the keys, "Bai Moyao is here; I’m going to pick him up at the train station."
"Hmm!" Luo Shu nodded without asking further, opened the gate to her own home, and walked in. Qin Yue was a good person, and she hoped she could be happy.
Qin Yue drove to the train station and, after waiting beside the platform for about ten minutes, saw the train from Jinchen approaching slowly from a distance.
"Woo!" With the sound of the train’s whistle, it gradually came to a stop.
Passengers carrying all sorts and sizes of luggage started to disembark.
Qin Yue searched through the crowd, thinking that Bai Moyao, with his standout appearance, would be easy to spot, but after a long search, she found nothing.
Just as she was about to leave, a pleasant voice sounded from behind her, "You’re here to receive me." Although it was phrased as a question, there was a note of certainty in his tone, tinged with a hint of joy.
Qin Yue turned her head and saw Bai Moyao’s handsome face immediately before her. She had to admit, Bai Moyao was a very attractive man – his family background, looks, and knowledge, everything about him captivated women and made them flock to him. If her heart weren’t tied to Lu Hanmo, perhaps she too would have been moved by him. Unfortunately, once the heart’s dead, to stir it again is no easy task.
"Looking at me like that, have you fallen for me?" Bai Moyao’s lips curved, adding a hint of masculine charm to his already beautiful face.
Qin Yue glared at Bai Moyao and walked towards the parking area.
Amused, Bai Moyao chuckled and followed Qin Yue. Their marriage seemed like an alliance for the benefit of their families, but only he knew the truth—it wasn’t so. He was never someone to be manipulated. If he hadn’t felt affection for Qin Yue, he would have never agreed to marry her.
He was aware that Qin Yue had someone else in her heart, and he knew that person was Lu Hanmo. That’s why, upon learning that Qin Yue had come to the Northwest, he had rushed over in haste. Even though Lu Hanmo was now married, Bai Moyao still felt uneasy.
"Why walk so fast? I’m not going to eat you," said Bai Moyao as he caught up with Qin Yue and took her hand. Her hand had a thin layer of calluses, the result of handling guns for years. But he still liked holding her hand, although such opportunities were rare.
Qin Yue tried to shake off his hand several times to no avail and said coldly, "Let go!" What was with him today? Why was he acting so out of the ordinary?
"Not letting go, you’re my wife, not someone else’s," Bai Moyao said a bit roguishly. He thought that over time, she might slowly change, come to like him. But except for the passion shared in bed, she always kept him at arm’s length. It was disheartening!
"You!" Qin Yue clenched her teeth in anger. But there was no fault in Bai Moyao’s words, leaving her no ground for retort.
She bit her teeth in frustration and quickened her steps even more.
Arriving at the car, Qin Yue took out the keys and looked at Bai Moyao, "Can you let go now?"
Bai Moyao took the keys from her hand, "I’ll drive." He released her hand, opened the door, and sat down in the driver’s seat.
Qin Yue glared fiercely at Bai Moyao and walked over to the passenger side. She was certain that the man had taken the wrong medication today; he was not acting like himself.
After slamming the car door shut, Qin Yue sat down without looking at Bai Moyao, just gazing out at the scenery in silence.
Bai Moyao smiled nonchalantly, leaned over, pulled the seatbelt and fastened it for Qin Yue.
A look of surprise flashed through Qin Yue’s eyes. She glanced at Bai Moyao, then turned away to look outside. Bai Moyao had never before been like this—holding her hand, buckling her seatbelt—what had gotten into him?
"Surprised?" Bai Moyao suddenly spoke.
Qin Yue hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Because I’ve fallen for you," Bai Moyao lifted his lips in a smile.
Qin Yue incredulously looked at Bai Moyao, and meeting his earnest eyes, she felt at a loss and quickly averted her gaze, "Don’t joke around."
Bai Moyao laughed lightly and focused on the road, driving seriously, "I never joke."
"Why?" Qin Yue asked, baffled.
"You’re my wife. Isn’t it natural for me to like my own wife?" Bai Moyao glanced at her and smiled.
Qin Yue fell silent! She truly didn’t know how to deal with the sudden change in Bai Moyao.
Bai Moyao’s lips curved slightly, and he didn’t speak further. From today, he planned to slowly win her heart with actions, even if it meant breaching a fortress. He would find a breach and then slowly pry it open. He was tired of waiting; otherwise, this silly girl would never realize his feelings.
Qin Yue’s emotions became complex. She couldn’t help but touch her belly, where the child she was carrying with Bai Moyao was growing. Her mother told her to get along well with Bai Moyao; after some time, he would naturally have a place in her heart. But is that possible? Her heart had died long ago; could it be reignited from its deathly gray ashes?
Back at the family compound, Qin Yue brought Bai Moyao to the house where she was temporarily staying.
"Give me the keys!" Qin Yue held out her hand, yet her gaze didn’t meet Bai Moyao’s.
"You’re going out again?" Bai Moyao inquired.
"The car isn’t mine; I have to return the keys," Qin Yue said flatly.
"I’ll return them. Whose car is it?" Bai Moyao fixed his eyes on Qin Yue, waiting for her response. He had a hunch, and it left him feeling uneasy. He really couldn’t understand—Lu Hanmo was already married, so why couldn’t she let go of him?
