Chapter 615: Six hundred and thirteen, destined but not fated.
Qin Yue chatted with Luo Shu for a while before saying goodbye and heading to the house she had applied for.
After arranging her luggage, Qin Yue went to Song Jiefang’s office. Song Jiefang was her uncle by marriage; his deceased wife was her mother’s younger sister. This time, it was Song Jiefang who had arranged her housing in the training camp.
Arriving outside Song Jiefang’s office, Qin Yue raised her hand and knocked on the door, which was soon followed by Song Jiefang’s voice, "Come in!"
Qin Yue pushed the door open and saluted Song Jiefang, "Greetings to the commander!"
Song Jiefang smiled and pointed to the couch beside him, "There’s no one else around, just call me uncle."
"All right, uncle!" Qin Yue nodded, walked over, and sat down on the couch.
"Have you been to Lu Hanmo’s place yet?" Song Jiefang inquired. Qin Yue was someone who got things done quickly, and her visit to the training camp this time was to see Lu Hanmo and his wife and plead for Qin Qi. He guessed that she must have sought out Lu Hanmo and his wife first thing.
"Luo Shu has already promised to help me," Qin Yue said with a smile. She was truly pleased that the matter could be resolved.
Song Jiefang raised his eyebrows slightly, "It seems there’s a good chance then." He knew that once Lu Hanmo had made up his mind, it was difficult for others to change it, except for his wife. From the events of the past few days, he could tell that Lu Hanmo, despite his cold exterior, was actually doting on his wife to an extreme.
"Lu Hanmo holds Luo Shu in high regard. As long as Luo Shu speaks to him about it, he will definitely agree," Qin Yue stated confidently. The reason Lu Hanmo hadn’t given face to anyone this time was precisely because Qin Qi had targeted Luo Shu. Unfortunately, such happiness was something she longed for but could not have.
"Did you inform your mother?" asked Song Jiefang. He knew Qin Yue had feelings for Lu Hanmo; he had even thought they would end up together, but ultimately they were fated to be apart.
"Not yet; I came here intending to call her," Qin Yue replied.
"Then make your call, do I need to step out for a bit?" Song Jiefang asked with a smile. He had brought up the matter of Qin Qi with Lu Hanmo before, but even his words had been disregarded. Now that the matter was resolved, he too was glad.
Qin Yue looked nonplussed, "Uncle, I’m calling my mom."
She stood up, walked over to Song Jiefang’s desk, picked up the phone, and dialed out.
It wasn’t long before the call was picked up on the other end and Mother Qin’s voice, tinged with a hint of hoarseness, came through, "Hello!" In recent days, out of worry for Qin Qi, Mother Qin had been practically washing her face with tears daily, and she had caught a cold over the past few days.
"Mom! I’ve arrived at uncle’s place, Luo Shu has promised me that she will talk to Lu Hanmo, and Qiqi will be fine very soon," Qin Yue immediately conveyed the good news to Mother Qin.
"That’s wonderful! Wuu wuu..." Hearing the news, Mother Qin couldn’t help but cry tears of joy. Because of this incident, Qin Qi had not only been stripped of her Guard Doctor position, but had also been detained, pending the results of an investigation to determine if she would be released or punished.
"Mom, don’t cry, the matter is resolved; you should be happy," Qin Yue consoled softly. When she got back, she would definitely need to have a serious talk with Qin Qi, to make sure she wouldn’t be so reckless and impulsive in the future.
"Happy... Mom is truly happy... Oh, Moyao came to look for you," Mother Qin said. Yesterday Bai Moyao had come looking for Qin Yue, and upon learning she had gone to the Northwest, he followed suit.
"Why would he come looking for me?" Qin Yue wondered aloud. Ever since their marriage, she and Bai Moyao had spent little time together; even when they did meet, it was as if they lived separate lives. Besides fulfilling their marital duties, there was scarcely any interaction between them. That’s why she hadn’t even told him about her pregnancy.
"I’m not sure about that, Yueyue, but since he’s already gone looking for you, wait for him there. You’re husband and wife, meant to walk together in the future. Try to get along with him," Mother Qin advised. She was quite aware of the situation between her daughter and Bai Moyao. Such marriages of convenience often evolved over time; she and Yueyue’s dad had experienced the same, developing affection as they spent more time together.
"Mom! I have to hang up now. I’ll come to see you when I get back," Qin Yue mused to herself before hanging up. She truly couldn’t fathom what Bai Moyao was thinking.
"Is Bai Moyao also coming here?" Song Jiefang asked. Although he seldom returned to Jinchen, he still had some impressions of Bai Moyao. Bai Moyao was a low-key individual but he gave the impression of being far from simple. He even felt that Bai Moyao was by no means inferior to Lu Hanmo.
"Mmm!" Qin Yue nodded. Bai Moyao was a person she found somewhat inscrutable.
"Then I’ll arrange a different room for you," Song Jiefang suggested. The room he had arranged for Qin Yue was a single, which wouldn’t work with Bai Moyao coming.
"Uncle, it’s not necessary to go through all that trouble; if he comes, we’ll probably only stay one night and then leave," Qin Yue said, blushing. If Bai Moyao arrived, it’s not like they had to stay together.
"What’s the rush? We’re about to have a holiday and the performance troupe is coming to do a comfort show. Wait to leave after watching the performance. Just so happens Lu Hanmo’s next-door neighbors just moved out, so you can stay there temporarily," Song Jiefang said as he opened a drawer, found a key, and handed it to Qin Yue. Zhao Dahai and his wife had moved out three days ago, and that room wasn’t assigned to anyone else yet.
"Thank you, uncle!" Qin Yue reached out to take the key. Since it was her uncle’s thoughtful gesture, she wouldn’t refuse it. Besides, she also wanted to learn more about Luo Shu.
Luo Shu snuggled comfortably in Lu Hanmo’s embrace, watching TV with him.
"Qin Yue has arrived at the training camp," Luo Shu said after swallowing a piece of cantaloupe.
"I know, she’s living next door to us," Lu Hanmo replied as he picked up another piece of cantaloupe with a toothpick and placed it into Luo Shu’s mouth.
"Then do you know what she came here for?" Luo Shu asked, beaming with a smile at Lu Hanmo.
Lu Hanmo affectionately stroked Luo Shu’s nose, "Didn’t you already agree to help her?" Since she had agreed, it naturally wasn’t necessary for him to pursue the matter further.
"She came a long way, and she’s pregnant; I couldn’t very well refuse. And don’t you think she and I are alike? Both utterly enchanted by you, this Living Yama," Luo Shu playfully stuck out her tongue and laughed.
Lu Hanmo, feeling both helpless and adoring, kissed Luo Shu’s red lips and gazed lovingly at her beautiful, smiling face like a blooming flower, "Having you enchanted by me is enough for me!"
