Chapter 614: Six hundred twelve, request

Song Jiefang sighed helplessly to himself upon hearing this, "I’ve already made my decision." She was always so stubborn; otherwise, with her talent, she would have been the Squadron Leader of the performance troupe long ago.

A leader must know how to be flexible. Being too rigid and indulging in one’s temperament can easily offend people.

"I’ve made my decision, too," Song Youyou said with a firm tone.

"Youyou, can’t you listen to me just this once?" Song Jiefang frowned and asked. Ever since his wife passed away, he and his daughter had been relying on each other.

Finally, he had found a woman he liked, but she faced strong opposition from his daughter. For the sake of his daughter, he had given up the idea of remarrying. Yet, she had never forgiven him for this.

This time, there was a document from above requiring the Guard’s Wives to also prepare a performance, and he had found an excuse to call his daughter for help.

"I cannot!" Song Youyou answered directly.

"What if this were an order?" Song Jiefang could only pose the question this way.

"I would follow it," Song Youyou agreed, "Does the Squadron Leader have any other instructions?"

Song Jiefang let out a long sigh, his expression sad as he asked, "Do we really have to be this way, Youyou?" He had been working hard to mend their relationship, but she had always firmly kept that door shut, not allowing him a step closer.

"The moment you betrayed Mom, our fate was sealed to be this way. If the Squadron Leader has no further instructions, I’m going to hang up." After speaking, not waiting for Song Jiefang to react, she hung up the phone with a "snap!"

For a long while, Song Jiefang slowly set down the phone and opened the drawer to take out a slightly yellowed photo. This was taken before the issues between father and daughter manifested. Back then, although Youyou was capricious, she was happy and loved to smile. But now, her face rarely showed a smile.

Shaking his head with a sigh, he returned the photo to the drawer.

Qin Yue hesitated as she looked at the training camp before her. Although she had decided to look for Luo Shu, she wasn’t holding out much hope.

Stepping forward, she took out her ID, presented it to the young soldier at the gate for registration, then entered the training camp and headed towards the family quarters.

When they saw Qin Yue dressed in a Guard uniform, other passing Guard’s Wives felt envious.

"Look at that female Guard Member, she looks so good in the Guard uniform!"

"I agree. Why don’t we have female Guard Members in our training camp?"

"Look at the epaulets on her Guard uniform, she’s the same level as my man, already a Centurion at such a young age, that’s really impressive!"

Qin Yue seemed not to hear the chatter of the crowd, focusing straight ahead as she made her way to Luo Shu’s home. She had already inquired about Luo Shu’s address at the gate.

Luo Shu had just finished training and was brewing tea in the kitchen when she heard a knock at the door. Setting down the hot water bottle in her hand, she headed to open it.

Upon opening the door and seeing Qin Yue outside, Luo Shu paused for a moment and then guessed the purpose of her visit. She stepped aside, "Come in!" Qin Yue must have come because of her sister, Qin Qi.

Qin Yue stepped into the house, and upon seeing the furnishings in Luo Shu’s home and feeling the warm atmosphere, she couldn’t help but feel a bit envious and silently pained. Although she had long let go of her feelings for Lu Hanmo, her heart was always left with a scar that couldn’t be erased, bleeding at the slightest touch.

Luo Shu poured Qin Yue a cup of tea and sat down opposite her, "What brings you here this time?"

"I’m here to ask you to speak with Lu Hanmo, to ask him to let my sister off this time. If someone must take responsibility for this, let it be me," Qin Yue looked at Luo Shu with a hint of pleading in her eyes. Her sister’s mistake was due to her.

Luo Shu looked at Qin Yue, her fingers lightly spinning the teacup in her hand, "Haven’t you already gotten an answer from the Lu family?" It didn’t bother her if the issue was just with her, but the mistake was that Qin Qi shouldn’t have trifled with the lives of seriously wounded patients to embarrass her.

"Luo Shu, for the hardships we once endured together, please help me this time," Qin Yue begged. For the first time in her life, she was asking for help.

Luo Shu took a sip from her teacup and said softly, "You should be very clear that the mistake your sister has made is not a minor one."

"I know, which is why I’m willing to bear the consequences for her. She acted against you because of me; it’s my fault for not explaining things clearly to her," Qin Yue pleaded, hoping Luo Shu would agree to her request.

"What about the child in your belly? Aren’t you concerned about that?" Luo Shu glanced at Qin Yue’s abdomen and asked.

"You can tell I’m pregnant?" Qin Yue was surprised, then remembered Luo Shu was a doctor, "I forgot you’re a doctor."

"Would you really abandon your child for the sake of your sister?" Luo Shu inquired. It seemed Qin Yue’s life was not a happy one; otherwise, she would never consider harming her child and the child of the man she loved for her sister’s sake. Luo Shu certainly wouldn’t!

Qin Yue touched her belly with a hand, a bittersweet smile on her face as she gently shook her head, "I wouldn’t want to, but I can’t ignore the situation, as it originated from me." She and Bai Moyao were together solely for the benefit of their families, without any feelings for each other.

Luo Shu sighed softly, "I’ll speak with Hanmo about this." In fact, Qin Yue and she were quite similar; they both loved Lu Hanmo silently. The only difference was that she was more fortunate than Qin Yue; in both her past life and this one, she had taken up an important place in Hanmo’s heart. This time she would help Qin Yue in return for her years of silent dedication.

"Thank you!" Qin Yue stood up and bowed gratefully to Luo Shu. As long as Luo Shu was willing to agree, Qin Qi would be safe.

Luo Shu smiled and shook her head, "Are you staying in the family quarters tonight?" It was already late, so Qin Yue probably wouldn’t rush back.

"I had already applied for a room at the training camp when I came," Qin Yue said somewhat awkwardly.

Luo Shu couldn’t help but laugh, "It seems you are prepared for a long fight."

"Well, I was afraid you wouldn’t agree," Qin Yue laughed a bit sheepishly. Luo Shu’s quick agreement was also unexpected to her.
