Chapter 604: Six hundred and two, the person responsible for the accident

After leaving the hospital, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo arrived at Cloud City’s Public Security Office.

They wanted to find out about the background of the person responsible for the accident and see why the officers at the Public Security Office didn’t dare to handle the case. In fact, they could have resolved this matter with just a phone call. However, since they were in Cloud City, they decided to come and ask in person.

Chen Zhihe was drinking tea and reading the newspaper in his office. Ever since he was transferred here as the deputy director, his life had been very comfortable. The leaders above knew about his relationship with Luo Shu, so no one had ever made things difficult for him. Moreover, many people wanted to use his connection to get to know Luo Shu.

However, he had tactfully rejected them all, knowing well Luo Shu’s personality. If he really took advantage of her name to do things he shouldn’t, he would surely be cut down to size immediately, or even worse. Even if his parents intervened, it would be of no use.

"Knock knock knock!" A gentle knock on the door sounded.

"Come in!" Chen Zhihe took a sip of tea and spoke leisurely.

The door was pushed open, and an attractive couple walked in. The man was cold and restrained, the woman beautiful and dignified.

Upon seeing the visitors, Chen Zhihe nearly dropped the cup in his hand from shock. Fortunately, he reacted quickly, but he still spilled some tea. The scalding water splashed onto his trousers, almost making him jump up.

"Young Master Lu! Luo Shu! What brings you here? Please, have a seat!" exclaimed Chen Zhihe in surprise. He stood up, placed the teacup on the table, and slightly tugged at his trousers to make them less tight against his skin.

Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo walked over to the sofa and sat down.

"I’m here to understand the situation with the case. My big aunt was hit by a car last month, and despite knowing the license plate number of the perpetrator, your Public Security Office has not compelled the perpetrator to come forward and explain. This doesn’t seem appropriate, does it?" Luo Shu asked, displeased. If she hadn’t happened to meet her big uncle today and visited her big aunt in the hospital, this matter could have been much worse.

Chen Zhihe poured a cup of tea for both Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo, "I really didn’t know about this. Wait a moment, I’ll make a call to ask." Although this matter fell under the jurisdiction of the Public Security Office, it was actually handled by the traffic unit.

Walking over to his desk, Chen Zhihe picked up the phone and made a call. After asking a few questions, he hung up.

He looked at Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo and said, "The person who hit your aunt is a member of the Zhou Family, Zhou Chang’s cousin, Zhao Yang." They naturally didn’t dare to provoke anyone from the Zhou Family at the Public Security Office. However, he hadn’t expected that the person hit would be Luo Shu’s big aunt.

"A member of the Zhou Family?" Luo Shu frowned slightly. Apart from Zhou Chang, her impression of the Zhou Family had been fairly positive. She hadn’t expected that they, too, were the kind of people who wielded their power over others.

"I will immediately send someone to bring Zhao Yang to the Public Security Office," said Chen Zhihe, looking at Luo Shu with a hint of inquiry in his voice. He knew that Luo Shu had some connections with the Zhou Family.

"I’ll leave this matter in your hands," Luo Shu stood up, walked to the desk, took a piece of paper and pen from the desk and wrote down a phone number to give to Chen Zhihe, "If someone tries to interfere, call this number."

"Okay!" Chen Zhihe took the note and replied cheerfully. With this phone number, he had nothing to worry about.

The Public Security Office acted swiftly, and not long after Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo had left, the officers brought Zhao Yang to the office.

Chen Zhihe walked up to Zhao Yang and looked at him sternly, "On the twenty-first of last month, at 3:27 PM, did your car with the license plate number JE1324 collide with someone?"

Zhao Yang tilted his head and remained silent. When leaving, his mother had reminded him that no matter what the officers asked, he didn’t need to respond. She would handle the situation.

"Speak!" Chen Zhihe shouted.

Startled, Zhao Yang came back to his senses and glared at Chen Zhihe angrily, "Who do you think you are? Daring to scare me, do you believe I could get your hat taken off your head?" He found the officer audacious. Once he got back, he would tell his third uncle to have him expelled from the Public Security system. His third uncle was in charge of this area, and to expel someone didn’t even require effort.

Chen Zhihe smirked, "I am currently carrying out official duties. Anything you say will be recorded. This matter wasn’t serious, a simple apology and satisfactory compensation would have sufficed. I hope you consider the consequences clearly." The Zhou Family wouldn’t falter over such a trivial matter, so he would avoid offending them if possible.

Zhao Yang fell into silence once more. It would be better for his mother to handle this matter. When he had hit the person, it had scared him quite a bit, and he had hidden in his room for several days, so his mother had taken care of everything.

After asking a few more questions and seeing that Zhao Yang still wouldn’t speak, Chen Zhihe returned to his tea and said, "I’ll give you ten more minutes to think about it. Once the time is up, I’ll make a phone call. Once that call is made, it will not only affect you but the Zhou Family as well. Don’t think I’m just trying to scare you. No matter how powerful the Zhou Family might be, can they possibly be more powerful than the Lu Family?"

Zhao Yang’s face turned pale. That Lu Family he mentioned, could it be that very same Lu Family?

Meanwhile, in the living room of the Zhao Family, a middle-aged beautiful woman paced back and forth.

When she found out that Zhao Yang had hit someone, she didn’t take it too seriously. It was just an ordinary citizen. If the person died, a funeral fee would suffice.

She had planned to deal with the incident once the officers came knocking. However, she learned from the hospital that the injured party wasn’t dead and would need at least a year and a half in the hospital, along with a great deal of medication, and even then, a cure wasn’t guaranteed. After calculating the costs involved, she decided to put the matter on hold for a while.

But this time, Zhao Yang had been taken away by the officers, and she had received news that the injured old lady was no ordinary person—it was Luo Shu’s big aunt. Who was Luo Shu? How could she not know?

Not to mention anything else, the mere fact that Luo Shu was Lu Hanmo’s wife was not someone she could afford to provoke, and even the Zhou Family wouldn’t dare. The Song Family, one of the three major families, was powerful enough. In the end, they were still annihilated by the Lu Family without a trace left.

With that in mind, she grabbed her purse from the sofa and left the house. She couldn’t let this incident drag down the Zhou Family.
