Chapter 596: Five hundred ninety-four, disaster victims

Seeing Lu Hanmo and Luo Shu arrive, many villagers merely glanced their way before closing their eyes again. Now, aside from the Yan Country Guard Squad, no one else could save them.

"Hanmo," Luo Shu patted Lu Hanmo’s shoulder, signaling him to let her down.

Lu Hanmo looked around and set Luo Shu down. The area was rocky, and apart from being somewhat steep, there wasn’t any muddy ground.

Luo Shu took out water and snacks from her bag and said to the villagers, "Everyone, have something to eat first and replenish your strength. The comrades from the Yan Country Guard Squad will be here soon to rescue you." Before coming here, she had already seen a group of soldiers rushing this way.

Upon hearing this, the villagers’ eyes instantly lit up, wanting to get up and rush towards Luo Shu, to snatch the food from her hands, but they truly lacked the strength; several villagers had barely stood up when they collapsed back to the ground powerlessly.

These past few days, after fleeing, sustaining injuries, enduring heavy rain and hunger... their bodies were utterly drained of strength, many people had already fainted.

"There’s enough for everyone, no need to scramble. Just sit, and we will bring the items to you," Lu Hanmo told the crowd. They had encountered this situation several times before and had gained experience from it.

After taking out the food, water, and medicine, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo started to distribute them to everyone.

"Thank you, young lady! Kind people will always receive good karma," an elderly woman said with her hands clasped together, bowing gratefully to Luo Shu as she accepted the food.

"No need to be polite, Granny!" Luo Shu shook her head and continued to walk toward the other villagers with food and medicine.

Seeing a little girl around six or seven years old, blinking her big round eyes at her, Luo Shu walked over and handed her the food and water, "Little sister, eat up."

The little girl shook her head. With her head shaking, tears also fell from her eyes. She reached out trying to grasp Luo Shu’s arm but hesitated, "Sister, can you save my daddy? He’s about to die." Her father was her only family; she couldn’t be without him.

Luo Shu squatted down, reached out to wipe the tears from the corners of the girl’s eyes, "Where’s your daddy?" Such a small child having to go through such a disaster was truly pitiful!

Seeing Luo Shu so gentle, the little girl’s tears flowed even more fiercely. She bit her lip, stretched out her hand timidly to hold Luo Shu’s and pointed to a spot not far away, "My daddy is over there."

Luo Shu looked up and saw a person lying on the ground, "Let’s go have a look."

She took the little girl’s hand and walked over with her, only to find a middle-aged man lying on the ground. Unfortunately, he had been dead for some time.

Luo Shu sighed, squatted down, and gently looked at the little girl, "Little sister, I’m sorry, I can’t save your daddy."

"Why? Is it because my daddy is already dead?" The little girl finally couldn’t hold back and burst into loud wailing. She would have no family left from now on!

Luo Shu stretched out her arm to embrace the little girl and gently patted her back, softly consoling, "Don’t cry, otherwise your daddy will also feel sad seeing you like this."

"Daddy can see me?" The little girl lifted her tear-stained face and looked at Luo Shu, choking with sobs.

Luo Shu nodded, "Your daddy would definitely want you to be happy every day, and if he saw that, he would surely be very happy."

The little girl thought for a moment, seemingly understanding and nodded her head. Turning to look at the middle-aged man on the ground, she said, "Daddy, I won’t cry anymore, you must be happy."

Luo Shu tenderly stroked the little girl’s hair, opened the packaging of the food in her hand, and handed it to her, "Go ahead and eat this first."

"Thank you, Sister!" The little girl took the food and began to eat.

Luo Shu let out a soft sigh, holding the food and medicine as she walked towards the others.

After eating the food, water, and medicine, the villagers felt they had regained some strength and looked at Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo with gratitude.

"You must be immortals sent from heaven to save us, I bow to you." If they weren’t immortals, how could they possibly bring out so much water and food from that small bag?

"Living Bodhisattvas! Thank you for saving our lives."

"Thank you! Thank you! If it weren’t for you, we would probably have died here, Da Bao, Er Bao, let’s all thank the uncle and auntie together."

Voices of thanks kept ringing in Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo’s ears, pair after pair of eyes filled with gratitude looking at them.

"We should go now, please wait here for a while; the Yan Country Guard Squad will be here soon," Luo Shu said to everyone and then proceeded to walk up the mountain with Lu Hanmo. They now needed to investigate what exactly was inside the mountain.

"Sister!" The little girl ran up, grabbing Luo Shu’s hand and refusing to let go.

Luo Shu gently stroked the little girl’s hair, a touch of sympathy in her eyes, "The uncles from the Yan Country Guard Squad will be here soon, so wait here with everyone else."

"Sister, I want to be with you." The little girl’s large, watery eyes pleaded as she looked at Luo Shu. She really liked her sister and didn’t want to be apart from her.

"Sister has some things to do; how about I come to see you after I’m done, at the uncles from the Yan Country Guard Squad’s place?" Luo Shu cooed softly. She didn’t expect the girl to be so attached to her.

The little girl didn’t speak, just looked at Luo Shu, her dark eyes showing a hint of stubbornness.

Luo Shu sighed with a mix of heartache and helplessness, "You wait here with everyone for the Yan Country Guard Squad uncle; after I finish my work, I’ll come down the mountain to see you."

The little girl thought for a moment and then nodded, "Then I’ll wait for you! Sister, you must come, okay?"

"Okay!" Luo Shu promised with a smile.

After sending the little girl back to the others, Luo Shu and Lu Hanmo continued their way up the mountain.

They arrived at a cliff, which seemed to be just a cliff, but in fact, it was a formation.

After deducing the formation with his Divine Sense, Lu Hanmo said to Luo Shu, "Shushu, you go back to the space first; I’ll take a look inside."

Luo Shu nodded and flashed into the space. She didn’t know what was inside, but the whispers of yin energy seeping out from there made her very uncomfortable.

Lu Hanmo took out a Formation Flag and scattered it. As the Formation Flag landed, a winding stone stairway suddenly appeared in what had previously seemed to be just a cliff.
