Chapter 576: 574, love, family affection
Yang Le gave an awkward smile, "Aren’t you the one who usually sees reason?"
"Don’t start with me!" Zhang Xiaoling glared at Yang Le, "Yang Le, there’s something I need to make clear to you. You should know that the cake factory isn’t just mine alone, so I don’t want any of the Yang family involved in it. I also don’t want our relationship with Luo Shu to become strained because of the Yang family."
"I understand, I’ll make sure they know," Yang Le nodded. This was exactly the reason he had not told his family about Xiao Ling starting a factory. Other than his father and older brother, who were quite reasonable, the rest of his family were rather shortsighted. If they found out Xiao Ling had started a factory, they would definitely want a piece of the pie.
"As long as you understand that. Are you planning to stay with me at the guest house?" Zhang Xiaoling smiled mischievously as she glanced at Yang Le. When she had first left, she was a bit worried in her heart—Qian Xiaoxiao harbored impure intentions toward Yang Le, and without her presence, there was no telling what Qian Xiaoxiao might do to him.
"You’re my wife, of course, I’ll be wherever you are," Yang Le smiled as he looked at Zhang Xiaoling.
"You know your stuff!" Zhang Xiaoling smiled with satisfaction.
"Then I should expect a reward later!" Yang Le reached out to take the luggage from Zhang Xiaoling’s hand and pulled her toward the guest house.
Yang Xing walked forward upon hearing the discussions of the guard’s wives outside and forcefully shut the front door with a loud "bang!" before sitting down on the sofa. She had not expected Yang Le to care so much about Zhang Xiaoling, to the extent that he could even ignore his own sister.
"What should we do now?" Qian Xiaoxiao sat down next to Yang Xing. Things had veered far off from what she had anticipated.
"We’ll wait for our older sister-in-law and the rest to arrive, then discuss it," said Yang Xing. She did not believe that even in face of what their older and second brothers said, their Third Brother would not listen.
Just as Yang Le and Zhang Xiaoling were about to leave the Guard’s Members Courtyard, a young soldier ran over, "Centurion Yang, there’s a phone call for you; it’s from your home."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Xiaoling immediately had a bad feeling.
"Okay!" Yang Le frowned, exchanged a glance with Zhang Xiaoling, and pulled her toward the office.
Inside the office, Yang Le picked up the phone on the desk, "This is Yang Le."
"Le, it’s Dad. Your older brother and sister-in-law, as well as your second brother and second sister-in-law, have gone to the Northwest to find you. They found out Xiao Ling opened a factory and said they’re going to check it out."
"I got it, Dad!" Yang Le said a few words and then hung up the phone.
"They’re all coming?" Zhang Xiaoling asked with furrowed brows.
"Yeah," Yang Le nodded with a stern face. He felt somewhat guilty toward Zhang Xiaoling.
This time, with his family coming here, things wouldn’t be resolved so easily. His older brother might be reasonable, but he could not control his sister-in-law, and his second sister-in-law was also a formidable character.
"Are they so eager to carve up my factory?" Zhang Xiaoling asked with a tone of mockery.
"Xiao Ling, I’m sorry! I’ll make sure this is resolved," Yang Le said remorsefully. This matter not only affected their marital relationship but also impinged upon Lu Hanmo and his wife. Offending them would do the Yang family no good at all.
"I hope you keep your word!" Zhang Xiaoling picked up her bag from the chair and walked briskly toward the exit. A fire raged within her, uncontrollably yearning to burst forth.
Yang Le sighed deeply, wanting to follow her but unsure of how to face Zhang Xiaoling.
Zhang Xiaoling, lost in thought, unwittingly made her way to Guantong Lane and, looking at the house in front of her, sighed deeply, walked up to the door, and entered.
Sitting down on a stone bench in the yard, she stared at the two rooms not far away, lost in thought. She didn’t know what kind of storm she was about to face. She didn’t want to lose the factory, but she wanted to lose Yang Le even less. Yet, she really had no confidence in what to do next.
She was his wife, but on the other side were his family. If she were in the position to make a decision, she wouldn’t know how to either.
A light gleamed, accompanied by the sound of footsteps.
Zhang Xiaoling turned her head and saw Luo Shu coming toward her with a lantern in hand.
"Why aren’t you asleep?" Zhang Xiaoling exclaimed in surprise. This place was so far from the back courtyard; Luo Shu shouldn’t have known she was here.
"Couldn’t sleep, just came out for a walk. Why are you still here?" Luo Shu sat down opposite Zhang Xiaoling. She had known Zhang Xiaoling was inside the moment she stepped in—the house was surrounded by a monitoring formation, and as soon as anyone approached, Luo Shu could immediately sense it.
"I’m feeling upset," Zhang Xiaoling sighed.
"Is it because of your sister-in-law?" Luo Shu asked. It seemed some issues had arisen at Zhang Xiaoling’s home tonight, or she wouldn’t be here at this hour.
Zhang Xiaoling nodded, then shook her head, "Besides her, there are Yang Le’s family members. They’ve learned that I started a factory and are on their way here. Luo Shu, what do you think I should do?"
"Are you afraid that Yang Le will side with his family?" Luo Shu probed. As a woman and a wife deeply in love with her husband, the biggest concern was probably her husband’s stance.
Zhang Xiaoling nodded bitterly, "Yang Le was brought up by his older brother, and he’s always been very obedient to him. Although his older brother is quite reasonable, his sister-in-law is an extremely formidable woman." Her biggest fear was that Yang Le’s older brother, once influenced by his wife’s pillow talk, might persuade Yang Le to divorce her.
"Then what do you plan to do?" Luo Shu asked.
"Of course, I want to stand my ground. If Yang Le is on my side, I’ll continue to pursue my dream. But if it comes to a point where I must choose, I’ll shut down the factory and give you your half share. Luo Shu, would you blame me?" Zhang Xiaoling looked at Luo Shu as she spoke. Her greatest concern was how Luo Shu would react.
Luo Shu smiled faintly, "Why would I blame you?" If she had to choose between her career and Hanmo, she would choose Hanmo without hesitation.
"I’m afraid I’ll let you down," Zhang Xiaoling said with guilt in her eyes. If it weren’t for an absolutely necessary step, she really wouldn’t want to give up on her dream. But if that dream turned into a rotten apple, she’d rather let it go.
Luo Shu shook her head with a smile, "Have you ever thought about asking me for help?"
Zhang Xiaoling smiled sheepishly, "I did, but I didn’t want to bother you. You’re pregnant; how could I trouble you with this kind of thing?" As she walked down the street earlier, her heart was a tangle of thoughts, wanting Luo Shu’s help, but considering Luo Shu’s current condition, she didn’t want to involve her.
