Chapter 529: 527, fishbone
In the kitchen, with the collaborative efforts of four people, eight dishes were quickly cooked and served.
"Dinner is ready!" Qi Hui called out to the four men who were chatting.
"Let’s go eat!" Xu Zhenghua stood up, smiling as he addressed Lu Hanmo and the others.
The four men took their seats at the dining table and couldn’t help but smile upon seeing the dishes laid out.
"Instructor Lu, would you like yellow wine or white wine?" Xu Zhenghua asked with a smile, swaying the two bottles in his hand. Although Lu Hanmo held the lowest position among them, they all understood that he was the one with the ultimate authority.
"White wine," Lu Hanmo replied.
After Qi Hui motioned for Luo Shu and the others to sit down, she said, "We each cooked two of these eight dishes. Try them and see if you can guess who made which ones."
"This is interesting, let me have a taste," Li Tingyao said as he picked up his chopsticks and reached for a plate of stir-fried potato shreds with vinegar closest to him.
"I can tell which two dishes are my wife’s just by looking," Xu Zhenghua said as he picked up his chopsticks and went for the braised fish.
"I’m sure I can guess right," Qian Fu confidently smiled.
Lu Hanmo glanced at Luo Shu with a tender smile, then picked up his chopsticks to take some sweet and sour ribs.
"Who cut these potato shreds? They are cut so evenly?" Li Tingyao, holding the potato shreds with his chopsticks, exclaimed in astonishment. Such knife skills could probably only be achieved by a professional chef.
"Sister-in-Law cut them. I really didn’t expect her knife skills to be this good; I was stunned when I first saw them," Wu Yuan said with a laugh.
"And the dishes she made are incredibly tasty, you’ll know once you try them," Qi Hui chimed in.
"Sister-in-Law can cook?!" Li Tingyao looked at Luo Shu in surprise. They had mentally prepared themselves, so if it wasn’t a dish they were familiar with, they wouldn’t dare touch it. Although it looked appealing, who knew if it was all show and no substance?
When they saw Lu Hanmo picking up the rib, they also stealthily observed his expression, ready to avoid the ribs at any sign of displeasure.
Qian Fu looked towards his wife, who smiled and nodded at him, and then he picked up a piece of the sweet and sour rib and put it in his mouth. Although he had his wife’s confirmation, he still didn’t harbor high hopes. Good knife skills didn’t necessarily mean good cooking skills.
The taste of the sweet and sour ribs took Qian Fu by surprise; his eyes widened in disbelief, "This is incredibly delicious! Sister-in-Law, you are really a skilled cook!" he complimented Luo Shu, giving her a thumbs up with a smile.
Hearing this, both Li Tingyao and Xu Zhenghua also reached for the sweet and sour ribs.
"Really good!"
"Delicious! Younger Brother Lu, you are really fortunate!" both men exclaimed with a laugh.
Lu Hanmo looked at Luo Shu and curled the corners of his lips, "Indeed, very fortunate!" Marrying Shushu was the greatest fortune of his life.
"Then let’s toast to Younger Brother Lu’s good fortune," Li Tingyao said, laughing as he raised his glass to Lu Hanmo.
"Cheers!" Lu Hanmo raised his glass to clink with Li Tingyao’s.
The atmosphere at the dinner table was lively and joyous, with bursts of laughter occasionally ringing out, and everybody was enjoying themselves to the fullest.
"Wow!" Suddenly, a child’s cry came from inside the room.
"Those three little rascals must be fooling around again, I’ll go check on them." Qi Hui said apologetically with a smile to everyone before standing up and walking towards the room. Although the presence of many children was lively, the noise could sometimes be exasperating.
Upon opening the door, Qi Hui saw three children standing on one side with fear in their faces, not saying a word, while Sansan was crying and complaining about pain. The food she had just served them was also spilled all over the floor.
Qi Hui’s face fell, and she suppressed her anger as she looked at the eldest and youngest, "What happened?"
"The little brother got a fishbone stuck in his throat," said the eldest, trembling with fear. Seeing his little brother choking on a fishbone, he didn’t dare to eat anymore.
"What?!" Shocked, Qi Hui ran over to Sansan, "Open your mouth wide for mommy to see." She had made sure to pick out all the bones earlier, how could there still be one left?
"Mommy it hurts... wuwuwu..." Sansan cried out.
"Good child, don’t cry. Swallow a mouthful of rice, and the fishbone will go down with it, and then you will feel better quickly," Qi Hui said, turning to look at the eldest and second child, "Little one, bring your rice over here."
The eldest hurriedly carried his bowl of rice over to Qi Hui, clearly upset seeing his little brother cry.
Qi Hui took a spoonful of rice from the eldest’s bowl and brought it to Sansan’s mouth, "Sansan, swallow this rice whole, and you’ll stop hurting right away." Since Sansan was already four years old, he could understand her.
Sansan nodded, tears welling in his eyes, opened his mouth, and ate the rice, trying hard to swallow it down. But the pain was too much, and he started crying out, "Wah! It hurts... cough cough cough..."
His crying caused rice grains to enter his nose and windpipe, which made him start coughing in distress.
"This won’t do, we need to go to the hospital." Qi Hui held Sansan anxiously and quickly ran towards the outside, patting his back all the while.
Luo Shu heard the commotion from the room and knew the child had gotten a fishbone stuck in his throat.
She stood up and walked toward the room, seeing Qi Hui holding the child in a panic as she ran out, Luo Shu said, "Sister-in-Law Xu, give me the child. Let me have a look at him." She had used Divine Sense earlier and detected a small fishbone lodged in the child’s throat, which had already pierced into the flesh. The hospital wasn’t far away, but the trip there was going to cause the child a lot of discomfort.
"He’s got a fishbone stuck, I need to take him to the hospital," Qi Hui said. She appreciated Luo Shu’s good intentions but knew that without the proper tools, the bone simply couldn’t be removed.
"I understand, I can get it out. Sister-in-Law Xu, I wouldn’t joke about something like this," Luo Shu said, looking at Qi Hui, waiting for her decision. If she didn’t trust her, then she would have no choice but to follow her to the hospital.
Everyone at the table had stopped eating and was watching the situation unfold.
"Alright!" Qi Hui handed Sansan over to Luo Shu.
Luo Shu took Sansan and said to Qi Hui, "Go get a clean bowl, and catch some duck feet saliva from outside. Have him swallow that, and the fishbone will dissolve." She could make the fishbone disappear with just a thought using Divine Sense, but just because she could didn’t mean everyone else could.
In case they encountered the same situation again, they would still be clueless. So she decided to teach them this remedy. Everyone had children, and they could use this knowledge in the future. Of course, she had also seen ducks in the yard, which is why she decided to use this method.
